What is the timing of Shri Shikshayatan College Kolkata?
The timing depends on each department. Each department usually has different shifts.
Most of the days the classes start from 9:00 AM or 9:45 AM and go on till 3:30 PM to 4:15 PM.
Some classes can also start from 8:15 AM but this goes for the final year students only.
A BA or B.Sc. students have class timings from 10 AM to 4 PM. B.Com students have both morning and evening classes. BBA only has morning shifts.
Is the PhD from Amity University Noida (ECE) worth spending 3 years (if I enroll now)?
Admission for Ph.D. programs at Amity University campuses is conducted twice a year i.e. for January and July sessions. A Ph.D. program is offered in two modes- full time(3 years) and part-time (4.5 years). There is no distance learning for Ph.D. courses in Amity and maximum duration in the case of both the modes is 6 years. Eligible students are selected based on their performance on PET( Ph.D Entrance Test) which is followed by a personal interview.
Doing a Ph.D. from Amity University is highly expensive compared to other government colleges.
- For Full-Time Ph.D. Fee is Rs 50,000 per semester
- For Part TIme Ph.D. Fee is Rs 33,500 per semester
The University encourages interdisciplinary research and exchange of ideas and knowledge in various related fields. Furthermore, it allows scholars to appoint a Co-Guide from outside Amity University as per university rules.
Although, if we compare, PhDs offered by Amity University are not at par with government universities. PhDs in private universities are rated lower than those of government universities.
Should I join M.Tech IIT Kharagpur/Bombay/Madras if I want to prepare for IES?
This is a bit of a subjective question. An M.tech from the IITs won’t help in your IES preparation in any way. So both the paths are very different.

Bannari Amman Institute has really good standards in the placement scenario. The institute organizes several training and activities to help students secure decent placement. They also arrange special tuitions for Aptitude, Verbal and Communication skills from renowned placement centers operating in Coimbatore.

Placement Training:
- The trainer takes each class every week to train the students. Students are given question papers to solve and understand how the situations are to be faced in the interviews.

Here are some of the basic tips for placements.
- You must not have backlogs as this is the first criteria for most of the companies. Few MNCs are an exemption where they allow a maximum of 2 backlogs.
- You should have decent communication skills. Your English should be enough for them to understand clearly. You don’t have to be fluent in it.
- Keep your basics strong in the areas of your interest.
- Practice and spend time improving your skills in the months before placements.
Overall Bannari Amman Institute of Technology holds a great placement record. It also trains students well for placements.
Should one specialize in HR from IIM Ahmedabad?
Although IIM Ahmedabad is not the best HR campus, it is the best in its class. Furthermore, it is believed that the 'Specialization' thing should not be dependent on the institute, but rather on what a person sees their career as being in. Choose wisely, regardless of the institute, because you will have to live with it for many years.
IIM Ahmedabad does not offer an HR specialization. However, you can always add more HR electives to your PGP program in the second year to help your cause. If you are certain that you want to work in human resources, apply to XLRI or TISS. They offer the best HRM education in India.
Who are some of the best professors at IIT Ropar?
As some of my friends studied at IIT Ropar, and also after reading some reviews online, I can say that the best professor is Dr. Dhiraj K. Mahajan.
He values knowledge above marks and he takes his own open time exam for students to understand their potential.
He has guided 5-6 students personally for a year and with his efforts. He helped students in securing a job opportunity in Germany for international exposure.
Apart from him, here are some of the other good professors - Dr. Narayanan C. Krishnan, Dr. Nitin Auluck, Dr. Balwinder Sodhi, Dr. Deepti Bathula, Dr. Apoorva Mudgal, Dr. Yashveer Singh, and Dr. M. Prabhakar.
What questions are asked in a personal interview for admission in Sharda University for a B.Tech in CSE?
Sharda University's interview for a BTech will start with an introduction round. You will be asked to introduce yourself. There may be some basic questions on what you have studied in 10+2. The questions asked aren’t too difficult. They ask questions such as - ‘What is Molality?’ ‘State Gauss Law.’ The interview usually takes around 15-20 mins.
How are the hostels at DCRUST Murthal?
One of my friends studied at DCRUST Murthal. He also availed the hostel and got the benefits of utilizing their facilities. Let me share what he mentioned about the hostels.
- The rooms are spacious enough for a single occupant. But this becomes problematic when you have to share it, as it is not appropriate for accommodating two students.
- The single and sharing rooms are of the same size.
- You cannot expect much from university hostels when it comes to food facilities.
- Though DCRUST is considered to have better mess food and canteen facilities than other colleges.
- The food items are healthy, hygienic, and affordable.
- Washing of clothes is free of cost.
- The whole hostel is wifi enabled, which is a really good thing.
- For boys, there are not many restrictions, but girls have a curfew time of 7 PM which changes to 5:30 PM during the winter season.
Lastly, for recreational activities, the hostels have a volleyball court, a badminton court, and a table tennis court. They also have games like carrom and a TV for students' break time.
The only thing that might sometimes become annoying is the frequent power cuts. Sometimes it occurs during exam season, which also troubles the students.
How was the life of a medico in Madras Medical College?
The campus life of Madras Medical College can be quite good. They offer decent hostel facilities. The hostels are well-maintained and clean. The rooms are three sharing. Mess facilities are. Food offered at mess is good.
The college conducts many cultural events throughout the year. REVIVALS - intercollege cultural fest, ENCIERRO - sports fest, and KALAIOMA - intercollege fest, are some of the events celebrated on campus. Other than these hostel days are celebrated separately for boys and girls.
The department and the faculties are great. The hospital has a huge patient load, so you will get to witness many case studies.
