Which college should I prefer for an MBA between IIT KGP VGSOM NMIMS Mumbai IIM Ranchi SP Jain marketing SIBM Pune and IIT Delhi DMS?

- SP Jain - Despite the high fee, the maximum salary package offered was INR 52.16 LPA, while the average salary package stood at INR 32.06 LPA during 2022 placements, and the job roles offered are on par with top-tier institutions like FMS or IIM ABC. Missing out on this opportunity would not be wise.
- IIM Ranchi/IIT Delhi - If you are an engineer, it is recommended to go for IIT Delhi as the MBA course structure is heavily inclined towards statistics and technology. On the other hand, if you are interested in pursuing a career in HR, IIM Ranchi is the best option due to its reputation for providing excellent HR placements and the prestigious IIM tag.
- SIBM Pune - Although not on par with the previously mentioned B Schools, this college is one of the biggest brands you can opt for. The average salary for the 2021-22 batch was INR 23.06 LPA and the job roles offered were on par with the new IIMs. Additionally, you will benefit from a robust alumni network due to the college's age.
- NMIMS - While this college is located in Mumbai and might be a good option for students from that area, the high fee can be a concern. However, it is known for its Finance specialization.
- IIT KGP - As this college only accepts engineers, the batch will not be diverse, and neither will the job roles offered. Given the other options provided, this college may not be the best choice for you.

What are the pros and cons of SIBM Pune and SCMHRD? And the difficulty level compared to CAT (98 percentile plus is required I heard, but how difficult is that to achieve)?

CAT is a challenging exam that takes substantial preparation and devotion to get 98 percentile or higher. Need to appear for 10-12 mocks before the exam to know the weak areas and work on that.
Which college is better for MBA, IIM Trichy, IIM Udaipur or SIBM Pune??
In the long run, it can be argued that the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) may offer better opportunities for learning and growth compared to the Symbiosis Institute of Business Management (SIBM). While an opportunity to learn from any IIM is certainly wonderful, it is worth noting that the IIMs are known for their rigorous academic programs and may push students very hard.

Both the colleges give an equal edge to each other in terms of establishment and worth yet if I had to choose one, I would definitely go for SIBM. I have stated a few points favoring and reasoning my choice
- Batch size: The major perk of SIBM over NMIMS is its small batch size in comparison to NMIMS. This facilitates better placements and teacher-student interaction.
- Fees: The fees of SIBM Pune is lower than that of NMIMS because of accommodation and living costs.
- SIBM Pune MBA fees: ? 13,49,000/Yr
- NMIMS MBA fees: ?11.95 Lakhs (1st Year Fees)
- Hostel: SIBM Pune has a hostel facility in contrast to NMIMS which has hostels for limited people that too at a high cost.
- Campus life: SIBM Pune provided you with an experience of campus life which is lacking on the part of NMIMS.
- Placements: Although both the B Schools have a 1% placement percentage, the quality of roles is low at NMIMS due to the huge batch size. The time taken for the batch to get placed is also more in the case of NMIMS.
- COL: The cost of living is less in the case of SIBM Pune whereas a lot is in the case of NMIMS Mumbai.
- Specialization: While NMIMS is mostly known only for its Finance, SIBM excels in both Finance as well as Marketing.
All these points conclude that SIBM Pune is a safer and better option.

Overall all institutes are good for and the admission process of all institutes is also not that tough. But if we particularly talk about placements then NMIMS and SIBM are better than SCMHRD and NMIMS even has a record of 100% placement last year. With this, all institutes have an engaging and encouraging environment.

What is the scope of management consulting at B Schools like NMIMS, SIBM, SCMHRD and XIMB? Do non-engineers, freshers get such roles?
This would certainly not be easy for a non-engineer fresher to get management consulting roles in firms such as Accenture, McKinsey, Deloitte, EY, Capgemini etc.
- Most of the above companies provide IT consulting, operations consulting, risk consulting, etc. at these institutes. You may expect these profiles.
- However, if you are looking for strategic consulting, then these roles are offered at only top B-schools such as IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, IIM Calcutta, XLRI, FMS, SPJIMR Mumbai, etc. Do not expect them to be offered at the listed institutes here.
Even if some companies do offer such roles, they care about your academics in your MBA, your work experience, your personality, and your background. They want to know if you are an engineer or not, they also want to know if you know about IT or not. There are various rounds of interviews lined up to test your skills and abilities.
So, yes there will be scope especially in IT consulting roles from these institutes. All you have to do is give your best efforts and leave the rest on the companies to decide what kind of professional they want.
How do I prepare for the Symbiosis MBA entrance test, if I intend to get admission in SIBM or SCMHRD?
Structured and disciplined study is best for SNAP 2024. Preparation tips:
- Exam structure: General English, Quantitative, Data Interpretation & Data Sufficiency, Analytical & Logical Reasoning, and Current Affairs comprise the SNAP exam. Learn the exam format and syllabus to prepare.
- Practise prior year papers to understand the sort of questions, difficulty level, and time management needed to pass the test. This will reveal your strengths and weaknesses.
- Improve fundamentals: Improve accuracy and speed by reviewing each section's basics. Practise fundamental math, reasoning, reading comprehension, etc.
- Mock exams: Take mock tests to simulate the exam and enhance your speed and accuracy. After each test, assess your weaknesses and improve.
- Current events: The Current Affairs section demands current events knowledge. To stay current, read newspapers, magazines, and web portals.
- Join an MBA entrance test coaching institute if you can't prepare on your own. To prepare for the exam, they offer structured assistance, study material, and practise examinations.

Human Resources has become a promising field in today’s time. A good HR assures that the aspects of the business they work for proves to be fulfilled along with allowing the employees their own space wherein they give importance to the clients.

My suggestion would be to consider NMAT and even SNAP so that you get a better view to choose from. Some promising prospects are indeed offered by NMIMS and SIBM-P, but I believe you should go for that particular institute which is reputed for its HR department.
I have converted calls from NMIMS, Mumbai and SIBM, Pune. Which one should I choose given that I have an inclination towards finance specialization?
NMIMS is well known for its Finance specialization. Many might consider its huge Finance intake or the entire batch size, in general, a drawback. But if we compare the placement reports of SIBM Pune and NMIMS Mumbai, the latter is visited by most of the top Finance companies. Most companies in the Finance sector prefer NMIMS over other B Schools and students who are Finance enthusiasts too prefer NMIMS over other B Schools. The main reasons pertaining to this preference are
- Better placements than SIBM Pune
- More number of companies visiting the campus than SIBM Pune
- Its location in the Finance capital gives it a lot of advantage over SIBM Pune
- More corporate exposure owing to its location than SIBM Pune
Finance companies give more preferences to your knowledge and inclination towards the domain rather than your work experience. The only drawback of NMIMS is its high fees and lack of campus life. But the Finance roles offered are good enough to overshadow this flaw.
