Which among IIIT Bangalore (integrated M.Tech CSE) and CSE at PEC Chandigarh is better??
I have friends at both these institutes and based on what I have heard from them, I can vouch that the Integrated MTech CSE program offered by IIIT Bangalore is great. Here a few of the reasons why you should choose this institute for your int. Mtech.
Reputation: IIIT Bangalore is among the most reputed colleges not only in Bangalore but in the whole world.
Faculty: One of the major reasons for choosing the institute is the faculty base. You can check out the official website for the faculty profiles. Most of them have PhDs from top universities of the world like MIT, UC Barkley, IISc, IIT, etc.
Most of the faculty members also have years of experience working in the industry and they can teach you according to the current industry needs.
Research-Industry:
- If you are interested in doing research, there are many courses available through which you can publish your paper. This will help you in your research afterward.
- If you are interested to work in the industry, there are many courses offered by IIIT Bangalore which teaches about the problems and required solution in the current industry scenario. So after your course, you will be ready to join the industry. The project on which you will work at IIIT B holds weights.
Hostel:
The hostels at IIIT B are amazing. It offers 24/7 water, power supply. There is also a stable internet connection available in the hostels.

Which is the better option for me? Mtech IT from IIIT Allahabad or Mtech CSE from IIT(ISM) Dhanbad?
The first thing you should consider is whether you want to pursue a Ph.D. or want a job after the completion of the course. I have a few friends at IIT ISM and I can tell you there are very few good faculties for CSE if you want guidance regarding Ph.D.

Moreover, the summer and 6-month internships have also been good over the past few years. For instance, the 2021 passing out batch has received several summer intern offers from companies like Goldman Sachs, Amazon, and Microsoft.
If you prepare for the coding session interviews from the beginning of the 1st year, then you are more likely to obtain internship opportunities. You can convert it to PPO before the placement season begins.
Other Parameters:
There is another thing you should consider. It is the number of students from either CSE or IT in B.Tech + M.Tech taking part in the placement season,
A total of 372 students participated in the placement drive from IIIT Allahabad while 203 participated from ISM Dhanbad.
However, there might not be a significant difference between companies that visit both institutes. Fewer participants in placements mean less competition.
So, I will suggest that you take all these factors into consideration and also do your own research. Consider other options too, if you have any.
Which should I prefer for M.Tech CSE: NIT Kurukshetra or PEC Chandigarh?

Can we apply for an M.Tech in CS through the GATE score in other than the CSIT paper (like mechanical) at ISI Kolkata?
According to the qualification needed for M.Tech a student needs to qualify the GATE exam. A senior of mine was the first one in my knowledge to join M.Tech CS. She ranked within the top 300 in GATE electrical engineering.
Gradually mechanical and other core branches are also allowed to apply for M.Tech in CS. It is also mentioned in the GATE brochure of ISI Kolkata that graduates from other branches can apply to M.Tech in CS
Gradually a lot of my seniors applied for M.Tech in CS after completing their graduation. A survey says that major of the applicants for M.Tech in CS are from other branches like mechanical and core branches also.
How would the MTech be at IIT Bhubaneswar ?
The M.Tech course delivered at IIT Bhubaneswar is quite good. Besides being taught by experienced and renowned faculty, the institute offers many opportunities through placements to students who pursue their M.Tech. Around 65 percent of M.Tech students who got enrolled in the institute got placed in renowned companies like HCL, Infosys, Goldman Sachs, Accenture, including others in this year’s placement drive before the countrywide lockdown. Some have even managed to secure themselves in top PSUs like IOCL, HPCL, etc. Among 69 students in M.Tech who were interested in placements, 40 students got placed.
Besides the impressive placement scenario, you will get the opportunity to pursue your project under the guidance of venerated faculty. After the completion of the M.Tech course, most of the students opt for Ph.D. in renowned foreign institutes. Others, who prefer jobs, get recruited in reputed companies. What should I prefer, MTech (CSE) at DTU or MTech (CSE) at MNNIT Allahabad?
You should prefer MTech CSE at DTU. It offers better facilities. The infrastructure and hostel facilities of DTU are great. Located in the heart of Delhi, it offers better exposure to the industry. It is comparably easier to receive live projects, internships, and placement opportunities. Companies such as Microsoft, Wipro, Cisco, etc. take part in DTU placements. The average CTC for MTech CSE students is around INR 10 LPA - 12 LPA.
Which is a better option, an ME in IIEST Shibpur or an ME in BIT Mesra?
BIT Mesra and IIEST Shibpur are both extremely renowned institutes of India. It has been seen that the Birla Institute of Technology is a government-aided institute whereas IIEST Shibpur is a full government institute. As far as the rankings are concerned IIEST Shibpur has been ranked 19th by NIRF among the top colleges in India and BIT’s ranking is 33.
Admission Process:
- The eligibility criteria for admission at IIEST Shibpur is students must have completed their 10+2 examination with 75% marks. And the selection criteria are based on the JEE rankings. For ME the cut-off was 11669 - 19625.
- BIT Mesra also offers admission on the basis of NEET/JEE for B.Tech aspiring students.
Fees:
- For studying ME at IIEST Shibpur 136,500 for the first year and a grand total of ?5.36 Lakhs.
- At BIT Mesra the cost of studying ME is INR 425,500 for the first year and a total of ?13.15 Lakhs.
Placement:
- At BIT Mesra a total number of 120 companies participated in the recruitment process for the year 2019. And, the total number of 831 jobs were offered. The highest received salary was INR. 49.76 LPA
- Headed by a Renowned Ex IIT Director, IIEST Shibpur got the highest placement record of 72% in IT, last year. IIEST Shibpur witnessed the highest salary package of rupees 39.12LPA
Though the salary package is higher at BIT Mesra on other aspects IIEST Shibpur is clearly winning. The university fees are also less as compared to BIT Mesra. So, it is suggested that one must go for IIEST Shibpur.
Do MTech students get a single-seater room in PEC Chandigarh?
Both M.Tech and Ph.D. students studying at PEC have access to the 'Aravali' hostel.
- The majority of the rooms at Aravali hostel are single seated.
- There are a few double-seated rooms available as well.
- As a result, you get the choice of making the right decision for yourself.
- The college seniors are provided with single seated rooms in the hostel.
- But they are discontinuing hostel facilities for new M. tech and Ph.D. students this year, and old students will be assigned to shared rooms.
Thinking about hostels in PEC Chandigarh is not a very good choice for M.tech students.
How is the M.Tech course in Mizoram University? Is there a placement in an MZU M.Tech?
M.Tech in the Mizoram university is very new and will take a bit to settle, so the placement is not quite good.
The students collaborate with NIT Mizoram students to send the companies so that the process of placement could be completed. But the package they offer is not at all satisfying for the students.
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering has started M.Tech. and Ph.D. Programme from academic session 2017-18. Along with this 2 more M.Tech. programmes in Computer Science and Engineering, Power and Energy Systems Engineering; Ph.D. programme in Electrical Engineering started their academic sessions from the year 2018-19.
The placements will take time to improve but currently it is average, so if you prefer self learning and training only then opt for MZU, otherwise go for more experienced colleges.
Which one is better (this includes- placements, faculty, students, and course structures) for an MTech (ISM): IIITM Gwalior or IGDTUW?
IIITM Gwalior is better for an MTech ISM. It has an active coding culture. Being an IT-oriented institute, it offers better technological exposure. It has a good placement record. According to the highlights of IIITM Gwalior placements 2022, students received an average CTC of INR 16.85 LPA. The highest CTC offered was INR 59.27 LPA.
IIITM G is lenient regarding attendance and academic schedule. So, it’s easier to follow interests outside the course-work.
