What are the future prospects of getting a BSc degree from DU? What are the best colleges in DU?

PM
Prashant Mathur Posted On : October 12th, 2022
Chemistry Honors from University of Delhi

In today's world, getting a bachelor's degree from any college isn't worth much.

DU has a brand name, but if your overall grades aren't good enough, having a degree from Delhi University is pointless.

By providing many resources and an intellectual environment, Delhi University will assist you in exploring various aspects of your personality.

However, if you have a bachelor's degree in any of the Science subjects or even Mathematics, you will need to do a master's or even a PhD to get a decent-paying job.

However, if you are an SRCC or Stephens graduate, you may be able to get a good placement from the college itself if you have a degree in Arts or Commerce with above-average marks.

The best colleges vary depending on your subject, such as SRCC for those interested in commerce. Stephen's is also regarded as one of the most prestigious universities. Other good colleges include Miranda House, Hindu, and Lady Shri Ram.

ISI Kolkata does not provide a B.Math program. The majority of B.Stat students return for M.Stat while some people join CMI, TIFR, IIM, and other such organizations.

M.Stat employees earn an average of 16–17 LPA, and many of them attend prestigious US graduate institutions. There are no fees for the entire program, and a stipend is provided. So, if you're looking for a career here, your future is bright.

What is the procedure to calculate the percentage for B.Sc Honours from Patna University? Does it involve only the marks of honours papers or are papers of qualifying nature only involved?

SR
Shreya Rai, Posted On : November 11th, 2021
B.A. Mass Communication, Patna University (2018)

In Patna University you have to calculate the percentage from total marks you obtained in your honours.

If you have four honours papers of 100 marks each and you have got 320 out of 400. Your percentage will be 80%.

In subsidiary papers you only need to pass as they are not included while calculating the percentage.

Among JADAVPUR University, ST XAVIER'S AND CALCUTTA University, which is best to pursue B. Sc. in mathematics Honors?

PP
Pablo Patranabis Posted On : January 11th, 2021
M.A Comparative Literature & Latin American Literature, Jadavpur University (2014)

Among the three mentioned universities, Jadavpur University is the best to pursue BSc in mathematics Honours without any doubt. The classes are assured regularly and rigorous for those who desire to have a future in mathematics; there should be no doubt in selecting JU.

Comparison: (Winning Institution - Jadavpur University)

  • St. Xaviers became a university recently. A BSc degree from JU holds more value than a bachelor’s degree from St. Xaviers.
  • Jadavpur University was ranked 196th in Asia by The World University Ranking 2020.
  • The faculty at JU is top-notch. The syllabus adopted by JU is of advantage if you want to pursue higher studies after your degree. You will have better exposure at Jadavpur through regular seminars. Attending seminars delivered by guest faculty from distinguished National institutes, and your seniors pursuing masters and Ph.D. will make an immense difference.
  • If you are choosing St. Xaviers because of the campus, you should visit the Jadavpur University campus.
  • The classes are regular, and JU follows a rigorous pedagogy. The political environment people talk about is quite exaggerated. If you don't get involved in campus politics, it is never going to bother you.

Jadavpur University contributes much more than just a degree that gives you quality education, which is not restricted to classroom learning. They make sure the students turn into the person they can be and gives them the confidence that no other college in Kolkata does.

As per UGC rules, students can do two courses simultaneously, provided one is in regular mode and the other is in distance mode. The degrees can be from different streams as well as from different institutions. So, it’s entirely possible to do a B.Tech from a regular college while doing a BSc from IGNOU.

For someone who is a fresher and also from a non engineering background, it might be a difficult task to convert a call from TAPMI but it is not impossible. He/she will have to compete with people with experience or a technical background. He/she should be expecting more questions on academic record, personal skills, and strengths.

Below are some general suggestions;
