Why is IMT Ghaziabad not as good as it was before?

AB
Akshara Bachkheti Posted On : January 25th, 2023
PGDM Finance, Institute of Management Technology, Ghaziabad (2019)

IMT Ghaziabad was considered one of the best B Schools in the early 2000 or the late 90s.In recent years, it has witnessed a slight decline in its quality of education. This stems from the increment in the batch size thereby declining the talent pool of candidates. The CAT cutoff was reduced to attract more and more candidates. This resulted in substandard crowds and low competition. Another reason was the previous director whose major aim was to earn money.

Recently again though IMT Ghaziabad is gaining fame because of its new director Dr. Atish Chattopadhyay who is managing the institution excellently. He has reduced the students intake and increased the cutoff. He is constantly working towards improving the lost image of the institution.

The college offers excellent placement opportunities and its low average package is the result of large batch-size only. So don’t just look at placement reports, ask the alumni about its recent improvements.

Can a branch be upgraded in Thapar University Patiala and UIET Chandigarh on the basis of the first-year CGPA?

NJ
Nikhil Jain Posted On : May 14th, 2021
Studied Electrical engineering at Thapar University

I have a few friends at Thapar University, so I can tell you the branch up-gradation procedure at Thapar.

  • If you want to update your branch, CGPA is not helpful. But that doesn't mean that you can't update your branch in some way.
  • At the end of the first semester, there is a "December exam," which has general PCM plus topics covered in the first semester.
  • The institute forms a rank list based on the December examination result. A counseling session for all empty seats in all branches is held based on the ranking list.
  • If in the December test two students have the same marks, their JEE rank is considered to resolve the dispute.

In general, one or two students leave each branch, so if you put in the required effort it’s not tough to upgrade your branch.

B.Tech Computer Engineering, Aligarh Muslim University (2018)

The Hostels are allotted during the admission process itself. There are 19 Halls of Residence in total and one Non-Resident Students Centre (NRSC). Out of the total, 13 hostels are for boys and 04 are for girls.

All the hostels in AMU have sharing rooms. There are four-seater, three-seaters and two-seaters rooms. No individual room is allotted to students in hostels. In case a student needs a single room then he can opt for a private hostel or PG’s around the university. Basic facilities in hostel rooms such as light, fan, cupboards are available. The hostels are situated in the midst of scenic beauty.

The hostel facilities at AMU are really very good. It provides a new corporate life at the University. Each hall has a Common Room with facilities for indoor games, a Reading Room, Library, Sports Clubs, and a Literary and Cultural Society. Also, Self-governance by students is encouraged. Badminton courts, Basketball courts, and TT Tables are also present in all hostels

Internet Connectivity: Internet connectivity is good in the hostels. High-speed WI-FI service of 72MBps is available in the hostels of AMU.

Cheap Dining fee: The monthly dining charges of AMU hostels vary between 1000–1300 per month, which is really cheap as compared to other government universities.

Canteens are also available on the campus as well as around the hostels. Water supply in the washrooms is available 24 hours. Power cut-off is very rare in these hostels. All in all, a student will not be disappointed if he /she opts for a hostel facility at Aligarh Muslim University considering the facilities provided in it.

Are BHU and IIT BHU the same institute ?

TG
Tejaswani Guha Posted On : June 16th, 2022
B.Sc from Banaras Hindu University

Although BHU and IIT BHU share the same campus, these are not the same. BHU is a central university that consists of many faculties and departments. IIT BHU used to be a part of BHU until it become an IIT. Now, it is an autonomous institute and works independently according to the IIT rules and regulations. BHU authority doesn’t have any authority over the management and decision of IIT BHU.

But these two institutes share some common campus facilities such as auditorium, badminton-squash court, swimming pool, etc.

Is Adamas University a good placement from the WBJEE ?

GS
Gaurav Singhal Posted On : August 14th, 2020
B.Tech from RCC Institute Of Information Technology (2021)

Adamas University is one of the private universities that takes engineering students through WBJEE. The campus and college life are pretty good here. Well experienced and helpful faculties are there. The infrastructure is well developed with well-equipped labs and AC classrooms. The campus is clean and green. The overall environment of the university is wonderful.

But as you are looking it for engineering, you must wait for the next counseling round and get upgraded for a better college. Nearly 70% of the college that comes under WBJEE is not as good as they should be. This is because placements are not up to mark in these colleges. Most of the students graduating in B.E. or B.Tech from Adamas University are unplaced because students here only get a degree but not quality education which can provide them good technical skills and knowledge. The students who get placed get very less package and many of them remain jobless.

Some of the faculties are very good. They are from very esteemed institutions like IITs and NITs. They have a really good approach towards teaching but this is not the case with all teachers.

So, overall, I would advise you to wait for the next round as Adamas University is not a very good choice.

What should I choose between UCMS, Delhi and KGMU, Lucknow?

SD
Sagar Dikshit Posted On : September 26th, 2023
lives in Lucknow

Without any second thoughts, go for UCMS. The academic ambiance is almost the same at both the colleges and both of them are highly reputed. Here are a few additional benefits of choosing UCMS over KGMU

  1. You will not have to go through the rural bond
  2. Generally, colleges in Delhi are far better than the colleges in UP. So as 50% of seats in NEET are reserved for State counseling admission to UCMS will be far easier.
  3. Under the UP system, extra merit is given to those who have worked in PHCs for state counseling making it difficult for a fresher. Delhi doesn’t have such a policy.
  4. Life outside campus is fun both in Delhi and Lucknow. Lucknow is known to have excellent food places while Delhi is the capital city.
  5. UCMS allows its students to attend the festival of various other Delhi colleges including AIIMS's Pulse.

Overall, both colleges have their strengths and weaknesses so choose wisely!

How did you manage to get admission into AIIMS Nagpur?

AB
Advait Bettamwar Posted On : June 6th, 2023
AIIMS Nagpur

My friend shared the strategy she adopted that helped her get admission to AIIMS Nagpur. Here are a few tips that helped her

  • Study 3-4 hours daily right from the start
  • Give equal attention to all subjects and solve at least 50 MCQs daily.
  • Solve previous year's question papers as most of the questions are based on these
  • Make a well-structured timetable and follow it religiously.
  • Revise your concepts regularly instead of just completing the syllabus.
  • The sooner you complete the syllabus the more time you will have to do mock tests and revise. I would recommend you complete your syllabus 2 months prior or at least a month before.
  • NCERT is the best option for all subjects. Additionally, you can refer to HC Verma for Physics and Trueman for Biology.
  • Taking care of your mental and physical health is equally important to utilize your potential to the fullest.
  • Eating a balanced diet and getting enough sleep are very necessary.
  • Reward yourself with breaks and cheat days to ensure a break from studies.

Thus with the right mindset, level of dedication, and hard work, anyone can get admission to AIIMS Nagpur.

I have done my master's from IIM Raipur. How can I apply for jobs in other countries, maybe New Zealand/Canada?

KS
Keshav Singh Posted On : February 9th, 2023
Elecronics Assembler at Hella New Zealand (2020–present)

When it comes to obtaining work visas in different countries, it is important to understand that most countries do not provide direct entry to international students. This is because it is a source of income for the country, so they require international students to complete their education and then apply for a work visa. However, some countries, such as those with a skill gap in their industries, are inviting high-skill migrants with more than 3 years of work experience to fill that gap.

When it comes to New Zealand, it does not provide any kind of work visa, you must have to take a course and then apply for the work visa. It is an important aspect to keep in mind while planning to work in New Zealand.

Canada, on the other hand, is providing express entry to skilled migrants if they want to settle in Canada. This is a great opportunity for those who have the skills and qualifications that Canada is looking for. If you are interested in working in Canada, it is a good idea to research the express entry program and see if you qualify.

Which is better Kurukshetra University Kurukshetra or Maharshi Dayanand University Rohtak?

AK
Ashutosh Kumar Posted On : October 22nd, 2021
Studied B.Com at Kurukshetra University (2019)

Both universities are on the same level and are reputed state-level Universities with UGC recognition. Only these two are amongst the other 62 universities in India from Harayana, who have autonomy because of their high standards of excellence.

Kurukshetra University was ranked A+ Grade by NAAC and ranked 8th among state universities in India.

MDU, on the other hand, has a great infrastructure with new records in sports every year. The university has a comparatively low fee structure and a safe environment for girls. However, in terms of placements and faculty, MDU is still lacking behind.

You should go to Kurukshetra University as it will offer great exposure along with academics.
