Did I make a mistake by choosing NSIT?
I am a student at NSUT Delhi. I do not regret joining this institution at all. At NSIT, you will get the opportunity to explore your interests and participate in various college societies. Through societies, you can connect with seniors who are very helpful and supportive.
In comparison to other colleges, NSUT Delhi has many advantages-
- Its infrastructure is much better than some newly developed IITs.
- It has good class timings and no imposition of compulsory sports.
- It is located in Delhi, the national capital. Other than that, if you are from Delhi NCR or other parts of North India, you can visit home on weekends/ holidays.
- At NSUT Delhi, you will make good connections because the crowd is friendly. This is unlike the old IITs where there is cut throat competition.
Have faith in your choice and make the most out of this opportunity. Remember that nothing comes out of regret. Also, this institution is a great place to be in.
What should a non CS student of IIT Delhi do to get job in IT or a coding related job?
Many IITians target a coding job or a job in the IT sector be it CS or non-CS students. This is somewhat easy for CS students as they are in direct contact with computer science courses and have enough knowledge of the same. So, what should Non-CS students do to get IT or coding jobs?
Non-CS students can do the Data Structures course as an open course. This course will mar you somewhat suitable for Software Engineering roles and interviews. The knowledge acquired through these courses is more than enough to clear the interview successfully. The next step is to determine what CGPA will get you what kind of job.
- 9-10 CGPA: Anything above 9 is a glittering aspect in your resume and will get you offers from Samsung, South Korea.
- 8.5 CGPA: This is also considered decently good and carries enough weightage in your resume to get you good packages
- Above 7.5: This is the usual cutoff for IT companies while shortlisting candidates.
Extracurriculars hardly matter in the IT industry unless you are targeting HUL or ITC.
For Finance jobs, the Probability and Stochastic Processes course in the 4th semester is a good choice.
How do I get admission in IIM Indore?
The first step to get into IIM Indore for your PGP is to clear the CAT exam. As there’s already plenty of information online on how to clear the exam, I’ll be moving forward to the next steps.
Once you get a call from IIM Indore, the next step is GD and PI. The GD round is all about speaking. But do not make the mistake of speaking useless things. Instead, make just 2-3 points that are logical and that take the discussion forward. Else, come up with something creative to support your opinion. For example, my friend got the topic- “Advertising: Noise Attracts Attention”. As soon as the floor was open for discussion, he made a loud thud with his foot. This attracted everyone’s attention towards him. In response, he just said- “Hence proved, noise attracts attention.” He cleared the round because of his out of the box response.
The personal interview is mainly a test of your confidence. Read general knowledge material and prepare at least one subject of your interest in depth. You’ll be asked questions on them. If you do not know a certain answer, be honest about it. You can add humor to the conversions, but do not use inappropriate jokes. You must across as a sensible gentleman.
These are a few tips to ace the GD PI round, which will ultimately lead you towards becoming a student at IIM Indore.
Which MBA college should I choose from IIM (A,B, C) , NMIMS, FMS and MDI?
For these B-School, your preference order should be IIM A > IIM C (Finance) or IIM B (if specialization isn’t a factor) > FMS > MDI. NMIMS isn’t in the same league as the others.
IIM brand value has its advantages. You can benefit a lot, if you are pursuing your MBA from IIM A, B, and C. But the IIMs charge high fees. IIM A MBA fees are INR 23 Lakhs. While FMS has negligible course fees and offers high ROI. FMS Delhi placements are comparable to IIM A, B, and C.
So, the choice comes down to brand value vs. ROI. If you want good placements and a high return on investment, choose FMS.
Which is better to go for - Manipal Jaipur or VIT Vellore?
You should go for VIT Vellore. In terms of academics, placements, facilities offered, and exposure, it is better than Manipal Jaipur. It also has a better brand presence in the industry. VIT Vellore placements 2022 ended with an average CTC of INR 8.19 LPA. While the highest CTC offered was INR 75 LPA.
What is the correct ranking between IIT Roorkee, IIT Guwahati, and IIIT Hyderabad for Masters in Computer Science?
Before I rank these institutes, I will warn you against joining IIT Roorkee for CS. IIT Roorkee is understaffed and also lacks facilities for research work. Despite being the oldest IIT, it has failed to meet IIT standards and has become a big disappointment
Only a few professors around 10 are there in the CS department and most of them are least interested in doing or promoting research work. So for research aspirants, IIT Roorkee is the last love to be.
However, if your only agenda is to secure a well-paid job, IIT Roorkee with its tag will definitely fetch you one. Many top companies offer excellent job profiles to CS students and students of these students are most sought after. Even MTech students are allowed to sit for placements.
In my opinion, the ranking should be
IIIT Hyderabad>IIT Guwahati>IIT Roorkee
Which is preferred: a PESIT VTU degree or a PES University degree? Why?
It's challenging to determine which is preferred between a PESIT VTU degree and a PES University degree, as both have their pros and cons.
PESIT VTU degree may be preferred as it has a long-standing reputation and has been around for a while. The degree is recognized by many top companies, and graduates from PESIT have gone on to secure excellent job opportunities. The syllabus is well-established and has been tried and tested for years, ensuring a well-rounded education.
On the other hand, the PES University degree is a relatively new degree, and its value is yet to be determined. However, it is independent of the VTU and provides more specialized education in the chosen field. The syllabus is enhanced, and the university has modern infrastructure and technology that can be advantageous to students.
Ultimately, it depends on what one's priorities are. If a well-established reputation and recognition by top companies are important, then a PESIT VTU degree may be preferred. However, if specialized education and access to modern infrastructure and technology are priorities, then a PES University degree may be the better option.
Which previous years did IIM Lucknow conduct the CAT, and what should be the strategy to write the CAT when IIM Lucknow is conducting it?
IIM Lucknow and CAT conducting:
the CAT (Common Admission Test) is conducted by IIMs on a rotational basis. IIM Lucknow has conducted CAT in several past years. the conducting IIM doesn't fundamentally change the strategy — the exam format and difficulty are standardized regardless of which IIM conducts it.
CAT strategy regardless of conducting IIM:
- focus on all 3 sections: VARC (Verbal Ability + Reading Comprehension), DILR (Data Interpretation + Logical Reasoning), QA (Quantitative Ability)
- sectional time limits exist — practice time management per section
- VARC: read extensively, practice RC daily. VA (para jumbles, odd sentence) needs specific technique
- DILR: practice LR sets from previous years. speed + accuracy essential
- QA: NCERT ? Arun Sharma for concepts ? previous year CAT questions
- take full mocks every 2 weeks from July onwards, analyze each mock carefully
the conducting IIM adds their branding to the exam but doesn't change what you need to do. focus on your preparation, not on which IIM is running it that year.
If the college from where one do an MBBS does not matter, why should one aspire to study in AIIMS Delhi?
First of all, the college from where you do your MBBS matters a lot. There is no second opinion on this. Irrespective of many people claiming otherwise, trust me, an MBBS from a good college matters a lot.
Everything is affected directly. The better the institute, the better the quality of lab sessions, the better the faculty, and the more hands-on experience on dissection. Top medical colleges provide better
clinical exposure than average colleges. A good college teaches you better to tackle problems. The hostel facilities also play a major role in this. A more comfortable learning environment increases your potential tenfold. The hostel facilities of AIIMS are top notch with single rooms from the first year itself. It’s these small differences that bring out a bigger result.
AIIMS Delhi is rightly the dream college of many, as it provides the best education, opportunities, and facilities. Yes, your own passion also is a major determining factor but the institute equally plays a big role. The opportunities it offers make you realize your actual potential.
How can I score good marks in Andhra University semester exams?
Some of my friends graduated from Andhra University. According to them, the major thing required is a proper presentation. Properly presented answers are given an upper hand. So make sure you do it well.
Here are some tips on how you can improve your presentation.
- The question pattern usually is to answer 5 out of 8 questions. The first 2 questions have to be the best.
- There are 2 marks of bit questions. Never attempt the bit questions first unless you are familiar with all the bits.
- The idea behind this is to find out if students have covered all units or not.
- Draw diagrams wherever possible. They should be neat and labeled.
- Highlight the important points of the answer
- Provide statistics and examples wherever necessary.
- Use color to differentiate the important terms or parts of the answer.
- Don’t use any shade of red or green since it is not allowed.
Finally, it is suggested that you try making your answer sheets as neat as possible. As the evaluator has to go through numerous answer sheets, they won't be able to read everything thoroughly. So try highlighting important parts of your answers, to make them stand out. Overall, try keeping the answer sheets as neat as possible.
