Which is better for an MTech in electrical engineering, NIT Trichy or IIT Guwahati?
The choice of the institute for pursuing an MTech in Electrical Engineering depends on what you want from your Masters.
- For those on the lookout for placements, NIT Trichy has a good placement scenario, especially for Electrical Engineering. They are even better than some well-known IITs in M.Tech, especially Power Systems.
- However, if you are willing to pursue a career in research after MTech (Ph.D.) then you will have to give great importance to the choice of the institute. An IIT is best suitable for prospective Ph.D. holders as they have global recognition too.
Ultimately, the better institute is a matter of preferences and career prospects.
How is the FPM in Finance at IIM Indore, Lucknow, Kozhikode?
The FPM or the Fellow Program in Management is a full-time, residential, fully financially supported doctoral program of the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode.
One of my friends joined IIM Kozhikode for research under financial accounting and control. According to her, the first year is full of rigor and a rigid curriculum. The FPM students share the curriculum with MBA students in the first year along with 3 FPM courses. The shared curriculum enables them to get in insight into various aspects of Management.
Like the first year, the second to has 3 semesters of 3 months each. This year comprises core FOm courses that give a depth understanding of methodologies and various econometric tools.
One major drawback my friend faced was the improper ratio between the number of courses and their period of study. The second year has 7 courses in each term which imply 12 days per subject which is insufficient. If we consider the 30 hours of classes per course, it means we attend classes for 210 hrs ( appr 8 days).
So IIM Kozhikode no doubt offers top-notch facilities and resources but you will have to prepare yourself to physically and mentally tire yourself to avail of them. FPM is an excellent course for research aspirants and not for casual learners.
What should I choose. 1. CSE Jadavpur University 2. B.Tech + M.Tech dual degree CSE @ IIEST, Shibpur 3. CSE @ NIT Durgapur?
First of all, never compare Jadavpur University with NIT Durgapur for the Engineering stream. Second important thing is, people usually prefer B.Tech and M.Tech students over the one who has opted for Dual degree program. The reason for this is dual degree programs are not valuable in industry or research.
Talking particularly about CSE, Jadavpur University is quite good and even better than the new IITs and most of the NITs. Among the given options, CSE at Jadavpur University is the best option to opt for. You will enjoy your studies here. You will have a good range of research projects. You will get abundant internship opportunities from here. Although placements at JU are not as great as compared to IITs, NITs, BITS, and IIITs.

So before even dwelling on the worth of the courses individually you should self-analyze your inclinations and choose one path you are sure about.
Jot down your short and long-term goals. What exactly are you willing to do in your life apart from earning money? Are you more inclined to the corporate world or are the technical elements that attract you more? Having clarity of goals and understanding of what you want from your life is the primary determining factor for choosing your college as well as course.
Objectively, both courses offer a plethora of job prospects and you will gain a lot by choosing any of the two. But making a wise decision here is most important. Choosing an MBA just because it has good career prospects despite having an interest in technology is deluding yourself. Which one should I choose, automobile engineering in PSG College of Technology or mechanical engineering in Coimbatore Institute of Technology?
One of my relatives pursued his graduation from the Coimbatore Institute of Technology. As per his experience, Mechanical Engineering will be a good option at CIT. Here are the following reasons why you should choose the Coimbatore Institute of Technology over PSG College of Technology.
Faculty:

- Many of its professors work in organizations like DRDO.

- The campus life of CIT is better. It provides a friendly environment for students.
- However, the hostel and its food quality are low, but you will get used to it.

What should I prefer: Mechanical Engineering at HBTI, Kanpur or CSE at IET, Lucknow?
Both of the institutions are situated at a distance of 80 km from each other. IET Lucknow is situated in the industrial capital of Uttar Pradesh and the HBTI Kanpur is situated in the Political capital. If you live in one of the two cities, you can choose accordingly; otherwise, this factor has no significance.
- According to AKTU, both the institutes are ranked at number 1 and number 2 in UP, but the situation is completely different analytically. HBTI is a well-known institution and has been the parent institute of IIT Kanpur and Uttar Pradesh Textile Institute.
- Both the institutes are government-run with complete control over examinations and the curriculum of courses offered by them.
- If you enjoy programming, Computer Science would be the appropriate course for you, while Mechanical Engineering is for those who want to acquire a genuine sense of what engineering is all about.
- The faculty of IET Lucknow is better than that of HBTI.
- You will have numerous opportunities outside the campus. The placement statistics for the mechanical department are not very good at both institutes, but placement in the CS department is extremely good.
Make your decision based on the branch and not the institution as it would have a major impact on your career.
