Which one is better for CSE: Jaypee Institute of Information Technology or NIT Hamirpur?
There are several factors which one can consider while comparing two institutions. Here are some things that I considered while choosing my college.
NIT Hamirpur will offer you the prestigious ‘NIT’ tag. As compared to other colleges in this region, the environment over there is superior. By environment I mean the learning, interaction and personal development offered at an institution. The placements are continuously improving with new companies visiting the campus each year, offering better packages. This college has shown positive growth in terms of exposure and student- teacher interaction as well.
Even though I’m a student of NIT Hamirpur, my opinion is devoid of such biases. Thus, according to me, NIT Hamirpur is a better choice for your CSE program.
Is CSE dual-degree at IIEST Shibpur or EE/Mech/IT at Jadavpur University better placement wise?
Being one of the most prestigious Universities in India, IIEST Shibpur sees a lot more top companies for placement purposes every year. Jadavpur University on the other hand also has a high placement rate but oversees more core companies as compared to IIEST.
- Funds: IIEST Shibpur receives a high amount of funding from the central government annually, being a public university, and therefore has a better campus, more equipped facilities, and better tech services as compared to Jadavpur University.
- Crowd: Since IIEST is considered among the top college of national importance, it enrolls students from all over the country, therefore, making it a diverse environment culturally.
- Placements: Although, for students looking for courses in CSE, Jadavpur University is known to offer a 100% placement record with an average salary package of 19.96 LPA. Some of the top recruiting companies are Microsoft, Reliance, Samsung, Oracle, and more. IIEST offers the highest placements across the Information Technology branch with an average salary of 5 LPA.
- Course Offered: If students are looking for an integrated course that offers placement services, then the BTech+MTech dual degree course offered by IIEST Shibpur is apt considering Jadavpur University does not offer dual degree courses as part of their curriculum. But in terms of individual placements in the streams of Civil, Mechanical, andEE, Jadavpur University offers some great placements for students amongst some top recruiting companies.
Being well known nationally, IIEST attracts more number of companies for placements but Jadavpur University offers a higher number of core company placements across specific streams. It offers the highest salary package of 42 LPA whereas IIEST offers the highest salary package of 39.12 LPA.
Therefore, students can make a choice related to which university offers better placements depending upon the core subjects they are looking at studying.
Which is better in Pune for CSE - MIT-WPU, VIT Pune or PICT?
All three universities namely MIT-WPU, VIT Pune, and PICT are well-known for their computer science and engineering programs in Pune. Here's a brief comparison between the three institutes:
- MIT-WPU MIT is one of the top universities in Pune offering various programs in engineering, including computer science and engineering. It has a well-updated curriculum, experienced faculty, and state-of-the-art infrastructure. It also has ties with international universities that offer exposure to global trends in the field of computer science. The placement percentage is around 80-90%.
- VIT Pune: VIT is also a top engineering institute in Pune with a strong academic foundation and an industry-oriented curriculum. It has ties with several reputed organizations such as IBM, TCS, etc. for training and placement activities. Its placement percentage is around 85-90%.
- PICT: PICT is a well-established institute for computer science and engineering in Pune. It offers good quality education that is delivered by experienced faculty and a strong industry-academia interface. The placement percentage is around 80-85%.
Personally, I will recommend you follow this preference order for CS
PICT>VIT Pune>MIT.
Should I prefer civil engineering in IIT Hyderabad or CSE in RVCE?
My suggestion would be to opt for IIT Hyderabad Civil Engineering and prepare for a branch change.
IITs cannot be compared to any private college other than BITS. Even if you are unable to change your branch, don’t feel disheartened as the IIT Brand name is more than enough.
I know many people who were part of the Chemical, Biotech, and Civil Engineering branches of IIT and are earning more than 12 LPA currently. Irrespective of the branch you belong to, IITs offer an excellent coding culture making you proficient in the same. The quality of peer groups you will be interacting with is also better at IITs than at private colleges like RVCE.
All in all, IIT as a brand is better than RVCE and other private colleges except BITS.
Which is the better choice for a CSE, ISM Dhanbad, IIT Bhubaneswar or IIT Gandhinagar?
The aforementioned IITs have witnessed exponential growth over the past few years and are good options for engineering. You will have to consider your personal preferences to make the right decision. All the IITs mentioned have progressed well. You need to look over various factors while making a choice. Also, I will like to add IIT Patna and IIT Ropar as they also have been doing quite well.
- On the basis of the cutoff, IIT Gandhinagar is the winner after which comes IIT Ropar.
- All the new IITs except IIT Ropar have managed to shift to their newly constructed permanent campus out of which IIT Gandhinagar seems to have the most beautiful campus.
- IIT Gandhinagar CSE has been established not very long ago and lacks the credibility yet. However, since IIT Gandhinagar functions under IIT Bombay, it will soon give promising results with a rich coding culture.
- Sparing IIT Gandhinagar, the CSE placements of all new IITs is visibly good.
- ISM is a new IIT but an old institute and thus has better cultural clubs and events than the newly established IITs.
In my opinion, IIT Gandhinagar should be your first choice among the new IITs followed by IIT Patna.
Which one to choose between TAPMI PGDM and IMI Delhi PGDM (Banking & Finance)? Give reasons for the choice.
I am certain that if I had been in your place I would have opted for TAPMI PGDM over IMI Delhi PGDM. I even have a friend who recently joined this program and is very happy with her decision so I have more assurance in this regard.
TAPMI is well recognized not only in India but abroad as well, especially in the Middle East. I know many colleagues from my last workplace who relocated to the Middle East and other foreign countries after graduating from TAPMI.
The infrastructure and campus are very beautiful, unlike the NCR campus which is hot and congested. Delhi is suitable only if you are interested in Sales roles. Else for specialization in Finance and Banking TAPMI is the best choice one can make. Some companies that visited the campus during placements are

- CRISIL
- Fincare
- HDFC Bank
- Invesco
I think TAPMI is the best option if you are looking for a sales role in a Finance company.
I have 6 years of work experience in IT and wish to get into product management. Which is a better course to join - ISB's PGP or IIM Bangalore's EPGP
There are two scenarios for product management
- B2B: Business to Business product management does not necessarily require MBA
- B2C: Business-to-customer product management is better with an MBA degree. The placements for MBA will get you a high-paying job in B2C product management. B Schools like ISB prefer a work experience of at least 4-6 years. Roles offered through placements include senior product manager to product manager.
The fact is no matter what your skills are, this industry is biased towards MBA. So the final decision should depend on what you are going for.
Is there a separate entrance exam for MD psychiatry course in NIMHANS?
NIMHANS conducts one common online entrance test of 2 hours duration comprising 150 questions. This entrance exam is conducted for MD in Psychiatry, Ph.D. in clinical Neurosciences, DM in Neurology, and M.Ch. in Neurosurgery courses for candidates with MBBS qualification.
- Seat Breakdown: 31 Seats- 8 seats for Karnataka domiciles, 2 seats for sponsored candidates out of which 1 seat is for domiciles of Karnataka
- Duration : 3 years for post-MBBS candidates and 2 years for post-DPM candidates
- Minimum Qualification required: MBBS or DPM

What are the eligibility criteria through the NRI quota at JBIMS?
You must have a minimum of 50% marks in total to be eligible for admission to JBIMS. You must also be a graduate in any discipline from a recognized institute. Your eligibility for admission will be determined based on your valid scores in MAH CET or CAT. Which college is good for an MBA with 44 months of experience, K. J. Somaiya or IMT Ghaziabad?
KJ Somaiya is definitely a better option of the two. My cousin is a KJ Somaiya alumni and he claims the college to be one of the best in the country
- KJ. Somaiya has a location advantage over IMT Ghaziabad
- It boasts of a splendid infrastructure world-class amenities
- You can expect a high ROI from this college
- It has seen an improvement in its rankings and now its NIRF ranking is 71st
- The placement scenario has changed for the better. The placement percentage this year was 93%, the highest CTC stood at Rs.22.50 LPA and the average salary stood at Rs.12.23 LPA
Judging from these points one can easily say that KJ Somaiya is a better option than IMT Ghaziabad. Also if you have an excellent resume and a strong profile you can also go for IIMs or other top B Schools.
