Is it advisable to settle on JBIMS, if one only aimed for IIM's?
Comparing JBIMS with IIMs is highly unjustified as IIMs are way ahead of JBIMS or FMS even if we consider the ROI. They are unique in many aspects such as
- IIM ABC and ISB is the only B-schools that offer Investment banking profiles in placement. Even if we look at other profiles, it’s easy to infer that they are much superior in terms of quality than the ones offered at JBIMS.
- Being a pass out of IIMs or ISB, you have an upper hand in the higher spectrum of one’s career, i.e, leadership roles.
- JBIMS or FMS lack the general ambiance and culture of a typical B School due to a lack of residential and campus facilities.
- The peer quality of IIMS and ISB are much better than JBIMS whose gender ratio, diversity, and competitive exam are very one-dimensional.
- The only significant aspect of JBIMS is the ROI which when negated makes JBIMS as mediocre as SP Jain and MDI.
- The placement statistics of JBIMS are much similar to that of new IIMs or average B Schools like MDI, and SP Jain. They are in no way in comparison to the top IIMs even with batch sizes as small as 120.
So one should choose JBIMS or FMS over IIM only if one wants to spend low fees, take no loans, or pursue MBA in Mumbai or Delhi.
Which branch and college did you get in the CSAB round 1 of counseling in 2019, and at what rank?
One of my friends got MNIT Jaipur Computer Science in the CSAB round 1 of counseling. He had filled in the following four choices-
- MNIT Jaipur -CS
- IIIT Allahabad- IT
- SVNIT Surat - CS
- VNIT Nagpur- CS
He knew that if he failed to make it into any of these, he would have to join BITS leaving everything. He however had hoped to get into MNIT Jaipur as it had a vacancy for OS GEN EWS Quota. The Round 7 EWS cutoff was 572 and his rank was 596. Luckily, he was able to make it after a long wait of two days.
What happens in KIIT counselling?
This is a pressing question for most freshers. Most of the new students remain curious about the KIIT counseling.
First of all, you will have to report to the venue on the stated date and time. You will be seated at a particular place with the other candidates and over there, verification of all the candidates will be done. Candidates will be called in groups to the Convention Centre, Campus-6 auditorium, based on ranks.
Once there, you will be given a form in which you will fill in the necessary details including the branch that you wish to opt for (Choice 1, 2, and so on). There will be a speech after which you and the other candidates will be called in the front, on the basis of ranks or according to some serial number. In the front, there are counters.
In these counters, you need to submit the required documents like statement of marks, TC, Migration, Photographs, DD, etc. After this step, you will be given a receipt of the amount that you have deposited, a provisional admission letter, and some other documents.
With this, your admission process into KIIT will be completed. KIIT also provides buses for a campus tour.
What should be the order of colleges for choice filling in MP DTE counselling among SGSITS, IET-DAVV, JEC, and MITS?
Well, it completely depends on you and what type of college you want to take admission to. However, consideration is always for the college’s placement process, branch, reputation, and location.
Every one of you must have different desires regarding your aspirations for educational institutes. It mainly includes good placement opportunities and location. Thereby, it is important that you must choose the institutes which will cover all your preferences. You can fill this in admission counseling.

You should decide as per your subject choices because some of the branches are good enough then its reputation and ranks in some colleges.
Besides, it can be mentioned that you must choose the city first over college. The reason behind is that all of these are the Government institutes, so, at the end the degree matter, because you need to study on your own.
Indore must be your first preference as it has huge exposure than the other cities. The maximum number of placements will be happening in this city during your final year. Everybody wants to be recruited by the companies at the end of their course, which is less in the case of JEC and MITS.

In reality IIM Udaipur is an IIM that has an extensive research culture. The rankings are a reflection of how quickly it has climbed the ladder. It is due to its high-quality research that many excellent permanent faculty has become a part of IIM Udaipur. This does not make it the best IIM but still, it is heading toward becoming the best.
Another major attraction of this institute is its impartial nature in every aspect be it placements or admissions. The students are not deceived at any point at all.

Is attending IIM Kozhikode a good decision?
Whether attending IIM Kozhikode is a good decision or not, you can know only after knowing the pros and cons of the same.
Pros

Campus: IIM Kozhikode is well known for its resort-like campus surrounded by lush green scenery. The natural ambiance helps students get a breath of fresh air amidst back to back classes.

Faculty: The faculty at IIM Kozhikode is not as responsible as the older IIMs. This means you are responsible for your own education. They do provide excellent classes but they treat you more like adults and you have to be your own motivator.

Hostels: The hostels are the best in the country. The safety here is top notch. The public and hostel toilets are very clean.

Academics: The academic rigour is as good as that at the other older IIMs. IIM Kozhikode offers a number of interesting courses in the second year like Strategy of Poker.

Placements: All the usual recruiters that you find at other older IIMs visit IIM Kozhikode. In addition, there are a lot of opportunities to work in the Middle East.

Student activities:There are a large number of student activities on the campus of IIM Kozhikode. There are clubs for Dramatics, Photography, Astronomy, Fine Arts, Quizzing, and a host of other extra curricular activities.

Slow decision making:IIMK has not had a Director for more than 2 years. So, a lot of decision making has become slow.

Increasing batch size: The increasing batch size might affect key resources like canteen facilities, water, and internet bandwidth.

Limited sports facilities:The IIM Kozhikode campus has limited sports facilities. The students have to go to the nearby NIT to play Badminton and Tennis.

Food:If you are a vegetarian, there would be limited options for having a meal outside the campus.
The pros weigh out the cons and it’s actually a good decision to join IIM Kozhikode.
Should freshers take a 15 lakh bank loan, and study for a MBA in TAPMI or KJ SOMAIYA?

What is the exact counselling procedure for the B.Tech admissions in BITS Pilani?
The whole counseling process completes with a total of 5 rounds of seat allocation for its various courses at various campuses. The whole process is given below, in brief.
- First you have to fill out the campus preference form online.
- After the first round of seat allocation, the selected candidates have to pay a part of the fee for seat locking without which you would not be considered for further rounds.
- Then the second and the third round of seat allocation takes place after roughly every 10 days.
- After the third round is over, you need to report to your allotted campus within 7-8 days. You would have to get your hostel allocation and all other hostel amenities as well after you visit the campus.
- In the final admission, document verification takes place and you will need to pay the full 1st-semester fee minus the seat locking fee paid earlier. On this day also you need to “freeze” your campus. If you freeze your campus, then you are eligible to get the higher preference branch only in your campus where you have taken the admission. If you do not freeze your campus you are still eligible for the other campus programs as well.
Finally, the 4th and the 5th rounds of seat allocation happens usually in the first two weeks of August and the process is completed.
Is there any reason why one should not join IIM Bangalore?
Honestly, there is no major reason one should let go of such a golden opportunity if joining IIM Bangalore. Yet I have stated some reasons which might lead to this decision:
- You have got a call from IIM Ahmedabad as well and you prefer it over IIM Bangalore.
- If you are tight on budget and cannot afford the high fees here.
- If you are not confident that you will be able to bear the peer pressure and the level of competition at IIM Bangalore.
- If you are not interested in pursuing an MBA.
All these reasons validate your decision not to join IIM Bangalore.
