How is LNCT Bhopal for CS?
LNCT is one of the best private institutes in central India. It has world-class facilities, great infrastructure, well-equipped laboratories, and libraries along with a student-friendly campus all contribute greatly to the overall development.
Computer Science is one of the most sought branches of the institute with excellent career prospects and job opportunities in the future. You will also have a chance for securing a job in top MNCs. Major companies like Wipro, Cognizant, Amdocs, Infosys, DXC, Accenture, TCS, and many others come regularly to recruit from the institute. For 2021 batch, the highest package offered was 19.5 LPA by VMWARE
The curriculum followed is up-to-date with the standards of RGPV. The faculty members are well-qualified and provides quality teaching.
Which is better, a CSE at IIIT Delhi or an MCE at DTU?
As a third year student of MCE at DTU, I can only tell you about my college and branch-
- The curriculum of MCE is a mixture of Mathematics, Computer Science and Finance.
- This branch will equip you for a career in three fields.
- The focus is more on Mathematics, but CS is an important part.
- MCE offers good placements. Graduates get job offers from top brands like Amazon, Flipkart, etc. MCE gives competition to well-established branches like CoE, IT, SE, etc. in this aspect.
- DTU is a well-recognized institution with a strong alumni network. More than 250 companies visit the campus every year during the placement season.
- Mathematics faculty is top-notch, while CS faculty is average.
If you want to focus solely on programming, choose CSE at IIIT Delhi. MCE offers programming knowledge alongside advanced Mathematical studies. It will help you design and understand really complex solutions.
At the end, the choice must be based on your personal preference.
Which one is better for computer science and engineering and why: VNIT Nagpur, NIT Calicut, or NIT Rourkela?
As an alumnus of VNIT Nagpur, I will share some pros and cons of studying CSE from there. To know about the CSE at NIT Calicut and NIT Rourkela, you can consult the alumni from those institutions.
Pros of studying CSE at VNIT Nagpur-
- The placements for CSE branch are excellent. The majority of students (around 75%) are placed within the initial months of the final year. Those who are not placed mostly have very low grades or backlogs (at most 10-15 students out of around 90).
- The Alumni Internship allows 2nd and 3rd year students to intern at the companies of college alumni.
- The CSE faculty is quite good and experienced.
- The coding culture is good with a coding club and monthly internal coding contests.
- Visiting faculties from IT companies like Persistent and Infosys offers exposure to industry standards and the latest industry developments.
- Lab work and assignments allow students to put their skills to practice. You will get ample time to publish research papers or work on your own projects as a CSE student over there.
Cons-
- Summers are hot in Nagpur, especially during April and May. But the weather is fine for the rest of the year.
- The college offers all the courses required for B.Tech. But some advanced elective courses like Computational Biology are not offered. However, such courses are not guaranteed to be offered by other NITs as well.
After looking into the various factors, make an informed choice for your CSE among VNIT Nagpur, NIT Calicut, and NIT Rourkela. VNIT Nagpur is a great choice for a CSE as per my personal experience.
I was willing to join Chandigarh University to do my BE (CSE). How good are the placements for CSE students and the chances of getting placed?
Regarding infrastructure and facilities, Chandigarh University's average cannot be compared with LPU, SRM, or any other big university. However, in terms of placements, CGC brings great happiness. The placement opportunities at CGC are pretty good, especially for software engineering. Many reputed companies like Google, Amazon, Flipkart, Dell, IBM, Infosys, Cognizant, etc., visit the campus for recruitment.
CGC is growing very fast and is becoming the number-one university in the northern region for software engineering. However, the number of students per stream is around 1400, which is quite a large number, making competition challenging. The teachers in the first year may need improvement, but after you go to your core branch in the second year, the staff is well experienced and quite good.
CGC conducts various competitive fests and workshops. Additionally, they provide international internships with foreign universities in the USA, Canada, and more. CGC has also started the TPP program, which teaches students aptitude, C, C++, and communication skills, preparing them for technical interviews during placements.
Overall, CGC is a good college, but attendance is a major issue. A minimum of 75% attendance is compulsory to give the examination. Even if you get 74.4%, you will not be able to give your final exams. In case, you're thinking of doing B. Tech from Chandigarh, you should first give preference to Thapar, CCET, and PEC.
What should I choose between IIT Mandi Civil and DTU CSE?
My sister too had to choose between IIT Mandi and another institute but chose IIT Mandi mainly because of its highly lenient branch change policy.
Placement-wise too, IIT Mandi gives an edge to DTU and NSIT. Here is a head-on comparison between the placement statistics of IIT Mandi and DTU.

While the highest CTC of DTU might seem higher, it’s the average package that actually determines the placement scenario of an institute. Considering that IIT Mandi is better than DTU. In fact, Electrical in IIT Mandi is even then DTU. Secondly, DTU’s increasing batch size is another major concern these days. I personally think DTU is overhyped because of its NCR location. Considering the fact that Delhiites get a quota of 80% you can infer how diluted the talent pool of DTU is.
Thapar University has 670 seats for CSE students. Does this affect placements, because after seeing the number of CSE seats, I'm a bit tensed to join Thapar University?
Yes, the huge batch size can be concerning. In case, if you compare the present statistics with the 2017 batch, you will notice the seat difference. 2017 saw a peak of only about 220 seats which undeniably helped students acquire multiple offers in the span of their course period even if they were not particularly exposed to the course academically.
Comparably, as the number of seats has drastically spiked, recruiters are often seen to only choose a handful of students who have the best skill set. The number of people getting into dream companies remains the same as before but you will need to compete with more people to get selected.
But if you think you can particularly ace Computer Science, then you can opt for Thapar University. There you will have the opportunity to sit for the interview sessions oftop firms, such as Microsoft and Amazon. According to the 2020 placement highlights, 264 companies visited the placement drive and the highest CTC offered was 43 LPA.
Should I go for CSE or COE at Thapar Patiala?
A few of my friends graduated from Thapar University and here’s what they have to say about it.
While discussing both the branches, they consider COE to be better than CSE because of several reasons. These include:
- COE is the oldest branch at Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology.
- COE being a bit experienced has better placement records than CSE.
- COE also has a strong alumni network.
- The subjects of COE are related to both software and hardware. Thus, students will learn about programming languages too.
If we see CSE it is a new branch started this year only and has no placement records. Also, little or no hardware knowledge is given to CSE students as compared to COE.
I have a choice between IT (Information Technology) in NIT, Surathkal and CS (computer science) in RVCE, Bangalore. Which one would be a better choice in terms of placements, Brand name etc.?
Between the options, you should choose NIT Surathkal IT. Here are the reasons why.
- The syllabus difference between IT and CSE is not so much in this institute.
- The placement process in the institute is exceptional, specifically for the circuit branches, including IT, CSE, ECE, and EEE. However, in the last year, students are recruited by Google and Microsoft.
- NITK has its own brand name. Maybe it is an NIT, but the students here get a lot of exposure. JEE Mains toppers mainly take admission in this institute every year.

You will have to stay here in the hostel, which provides a good experience for them. During the tenure of the course, you will learn how to take care of yourself. Also, if your hometown is Bangalore, then you can frequently visit home.
Which is better for Computer Science? College of Engineering, Guindy or Madras Institute of Technology, Chrompet?
If you are an academically interested person, both NIT Kurukshetra and PEC Chandigarh will cherish you, and you will get very good opportunities in both colleges. Here are some key points to consider when deciding between the two:
Commonalities between the two colleges:
- Both are constituent colleges of Anna University, so they share certain components, including course offerings, examination schedules, and university calendar events.
- Faculty transfers between the colleges occasionally, and collaboration in research is not uncommon.
- Both colleges have bright and interesting peers and professors to inspire you.
Where PEC Chandigarh is better:
- Scale: PEC is a bigger college with more people.
- Exposure: PEC is in the center of the city and is a well-known institution in the area.
- Faculty: PEC's faculty in the CS department has more doctorates, and the department has been around for a few decades.
- Seniors: PEC has been teaching computer science for longer than NIT Kurukshetra, so there are more alumni out there creating and contributing to organizations.
- Sponsors: Due to the above reasons, PEC has very good sponsorship for college events.
- Campus: PEC's campus is beautiful, with easy access to AU events like counseling, placements, and festivals that happen in AU grounds.
Where NIT Kurukshetra is better:
- Seniors Link: The link with seniors is much stronger at NIT Kurukshetra, with a strong emotional dimension to the senior-junior relationship.
- Entrepreneurship: NIT Kurukshetra has an incubation center on campus, which is great for students interested in starting up early on.
- Programming: NIT Kurukshetra has a good competitive programming culture, with consistently high rankings in the Regional ACM-ICPC competitions.
- Campus: NIT Kurukshetra's campus is conveniently located near Chromepet Railway station and the bus stop, making it easy to get around the area. The campus also has a rich history, serving as a hanger for wartime planes, and the aeronautics department hosts a couple of legacy planes for people to admire.
Ultimately, the decision between NIT Kurukshetra and PEC Chandigarh depends on your personal preferences and priorities. Consider factors such as location, campus facilities, faculty, and alumni network when making your choice.
Which is better: CSE at BIT Mesra or IT at NIT Allahabad?
It’s highly illogical to compare BIT Mesra with NIT Allahabad. MNNIT Allahabad belongs to a different league and is way better than BIT Mesra. Its CS and IT placements are surprisingly better than the new IITs too.
The best part about MNIT Allahabad is its extensive job opportunities. Companies coming for CS students allow IT and ECE students to sit for placements as well. So all you need to do is become proficient in coding and clear the interview smartly.
