As far as computer science is concerned, everyone is very well aware that it is quite a well-reputed branch in engineering. Coincidentally, it is also one of the best branches at Bhartiya Vidyapeeth. Additionally, the fact that it is located in Pune and its role in the IT industry could also play an advantage to you.

However, when it comes to faculty, it is not that great. The teachers are known to be quite uncooperative and a few of them probably don’t have much idea about programming. You will also be disappointed by their teaching.

The course curriculum is definitely updated regularly but you will have to study on your own. There are a lot of advanced topics included in your course which will eventually help you in your placements.

If you are a boy, hostel facilities will only be available for a year for you. For girls, these are available throughout the course. The mess is okay enough with the Wi-Fi facility in the hostel. They also provide you with any medical aid you may need. Libraries are also open up till midnight if you wish to study late.

The college is old and reputed but you will definitely have to take some risks if you wish to attend CS at Bhartiya Vidyapeeth.

While discussing both the branches, they consider COE to be better than CSE because of several reasons. These include:

• COE is the oldest branch at Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology.
• COE being a bit experienced has better placement records than CSE. 
• COE also has a strong alumni network.
• The subjects of COE are related to both software and hardware. Thus, students will learn about programming languages too.

If we see CSE it is a new branch started this year only and has no placement records. Also, little or no hardware knowledge is given to CSE students as compared to COE.

A few of my friends have pursued CSE from various universities and institutes. If looked into their experiences, I will tell you to go to Thapar University.

Following are some of the reasons why Thapar is preferable for CSE:

• Faculty are young, motivated, and dedicated, with a high proportion of Ph.D. holders.
• Many faculty members hold certifications in cutting-edge computer science and engineering fields.
• Extensive student engagement framework based on regular interactions, annual educational tours, a feedback mechanism, and professional chapters and societies.
• The department has a long list of prominent visitors for research and academic research from India and outside.
• The department is ISO certified and NBA accredited. The department has an innovation lab with high-performance computer technology.
• Many sponsored research projects from the MHRD, DST, UGC, AICTE, TCS, and others are being carried out by the department.
• Google, Microsoft, DeShaw, Adobe, Amazon, Yahoo, Samsung, NVidia, and a long list of other dream firms are top recruiters who visit the campus every year for placement drives.

As a result, Thapar is without a doubt the best option for computer engineering.

My brother is currently pursuing CML at Thapar University and he highly recommends the course as you will get to learn a lot compared to the core CS. Here are some of the reasons why he chose this course.

• In the current industry, Data Analysis and Machine Learning have high demand. Almost every big company needs Data Scientists. 
• In CML, you will get an extra degree of honors in Machine Learning and Data Analysis apart from the normal BE in CS.
• The only startup of the first year is run by students of CML. 
• CML is the only branch that got a 200% increase in seats from the original plan to the second year.

If you talk to the graduates from IITs who are currently working as Data scientists in the industry they will definitely recommend this course. As it offers immense opportunities. 

Both of them are very good colleges and are recognized and reputed colleges of our country, but there are certain aspects which make them different from each other and in this scenario, CSE at SGSITS will be much better than at IET DAVV. Here are the reasons. 

• Faculty: The faculty of SGSITS is very talented and experienced, and all of them have done PhD from IITs and IISC. This can be considered a big achievement and can be one of the major reasons to join SGSITS. 
• Campus Life: The campus life of SGSITS is very good and the technical fest is amazing. But the cultural fest of IET DAVV is very good too. 
• Placements: The placements of SGSITS are very good as its alumni network is very good which has resulted in good placements every year. Companies like Infosys, Wipro, Microsoft, Deloitte, TCS, and many other top companies visit the campus every year and recruit many students. And the highest number of students recruited are from the CSE branch.
• Brand Value: As SGSITS is a very old institute and has produced remarkable results over the years, it is widely recognized by people and holds great value in the corporate world which can be much beneficial for your career, in securing higher packages.

Overall, it is safe to say that SGSIT is a better alternative.

Yes, according to my preferences a computer science and engineering course at Thapar University is definitely worth it. One of my friends studied there, and here are some things I got to know from him. He was recruited via on-campus placement by Oracle for a prominent job role at the corporation. 

• The University provides you with a relaxed course scheme and many skilled and experienced faculty members. 
• The placement scenario at the university is also good. If you maintain a CGPA of around 7.5, there is a very high probability for you to get recruited on-campus.

The major recruiting firms that visit the campus of the university for recruitment almost every year include IBM, Oracle, Wipro, D.E. Shaw, Microsoft, TCS, and Infosys. 

Both of these institutions would definitely be on the list if you are planning your engineering from one of the many colleges in Mumbai.

Placements - Thadomal Shahani Engineering College:

The Computer Engineering department at TSEC enjoys top priority in the placement drives. In the placement year 2020, the highest CTC offered at Thadomal Shahani Engineering College was around INR 20 LPA. The average CTC ranges between INR 6-7 LPA. Some of the companies visiting the campus for placements are as follows.

Placement - KJ Somaiya:

It is one of the top management colleges in India. In the placement drive for the year 2020-21, it was observed that the highest CTC offered stood at INR 28.5 LPA while the average placement was around INR 10-11 LPA. More than 150 recruiters visited the campus. Some of the companies visiting the campus for placements are-

Both of these colleges are among the best management colleges in Mumbai. You should take note, talk with the recent pass-out students to know the current placement situation. This will help in making the right choice.

Currently, IIIT Una facilitates education through two temporary campuses of Dev Bhumy Group of Institutes, Himachal Pradesh and the NIT campus at Hamirpur, the main campus is still under construction and the placement is average. 

The first batch of IIIT Una passed in 2018, with an average salary of INR 3-4 LPA and highest salary of INR 10-12 LPA. In 2020, 90% students were placed and the average salary increased to 8 LPA and the highest to 16 LPA, hence it is being assumed that these statistics will improve in the upcoming years to reach the level of performance of NIT Hamirpur. 

For now, you'd like to know these -

• NIT Hamirpur has been ranked #98 by NIRF and Thapar ranks #29 on the same.
• As IIIT Una is working under the aegis of NIT Hamirpur, the institute receives the same companies for placement as does NIT Hamirpur. This year, names like Infosys, Reliance and IBM graced the campus and the highest package offered was INR 62 LPA.
• For COE, Thapar University students receive an average salary of INR 6-7 LPA.

It is difficult to assume anything in the case of IIIT Una, it has improved from the 2018 statistics, but it cannot be said how successful it'll be in four years' time. Whereas Thapar University is developing well as far as placements are concerned, in 2020 the highest package offered to Thapar University students was INR 39 LPA and 990+ companies made offers to them.
