How much can an average student score in an MA programme at IGNOU?

RA
Ram Achal Posted On : November 3rd, 2022
Career Guidance Counsellor

The word average student is vague. The examiner checking your answer sheets has no idea whether you are an average student or a topper. So it all depends on your preparation for the exam. You can get above-average marks if you study well and attempt the exam well. Similarly, not studying well might result in below-average marks.

The rough estimate of average IGNOU marks is around 55-60 marks (out of 100).

So it can be said that an average student can score first division easily. It mostly depends on how you write your answers.

What are the best things for KIIT University students to do on weekends?

SD
Salini Dasgupta Posted On : July 26th, 2023
studied at Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (2020)

I am an alumnus of KIIT. I was a B.Tech Electrical Engineering student. I would first like to tell you how our weekdays looked like. Our classes went on from 10 in the morning to 5 in the evening. After which, we spent some time chatting amongst ourselves in the Kathajodi Campus. The Soc people ended up planning some group activities. Others mostly returned to the hostels.

One thing that I regret is not spending much time in the library. A library is the biggest resource present at any institution. Weekdays are usually filled with other commitments, so make sure to spend some time in the library during the weekends. The library is not meant to just study your curriculum or for lab copywriting. Make sure to do some extra reading. Other than that, try exploring the KIIT campus on foot.

I thought I must offer some advice because I regret not putting in some extra hours for my personality development. You will get numerous other fun tips from people around you at KIIT, but none will tell you to do some extra work for just a few hours during the weekends.

Is it possible to convert XLRI BM call with 97.985 percentile in XAT for a fresher?

KC
Khushi Chitra Posted On : May 21st, 2021
studied at Delhi University (2019)

Yes, it is definitely possible. My brother had a 97.6 percentile in XAT 2018. He converted both XL BM and HRM calls that year as a fresher. XAT percent is just one of the major aspects looked into for selection.

Besides XAT there are Other important aspects. Let’s look into them -

  1. Consistent academic profile: Scores in the 10th and 12th boards are also important because they reveal the student's capability.
  2. Diverse co-curricular and extracurricular profile: Include your interests, hobbies, extra-curricular, etc. as it will increase your chances of getting admission.
  3. Positions of Responsibility: Use your undergrad years to shoulder techno-managerial responsibilities. This will allow you to grow and evolve from a variety of experiences. It will help you build an overall profile and thrive at a B-school. While serving as Vice President of IEEE and Head of Department and College Fests, my brother was a member of his college's editorial board.
  4. Research Projects and Internships: During your undergrad, pursue technical projects and internships to build a diverse profile. Apart from interning with ONGC, Teleysia Networks Pvt. Ltd., and Bharti Airtel, my brother also served as a managerial intern at IIM Ahmedabad.

Giving your best to a meaningful and learning-oriented work experience will also help you secure and justify a shortlist and subsequent selection with one top B-school.

How is an MS in surgery at Allied AIIMS Rishikesh, Jodhpur, Bhubaneswar, Raipur, Patna, and Bhopal?

PA
Puneet Aarya Posted On : June 4th, 2023
MBBS from All India Institute of Medical Sciences

General surgery at any of the AIIMS provides a lesser hands-on experience as there are so many MCh residents/Non-Academic. A surgery resident at AIIMS Rishikesh is posted in General Surgery as well as through all the surgical super-specialties. There will be a lot to learn here and the faculties are also good. Residents are made to do minor surgeries independently like Hydrocoele, Appendicectomy, etc. But in AIIMS you will just be assisting in most of the surgeries. You might be allowed to do these surgeries in the senior year although the number is very less. The institute usually handles complex cases so you might have little knowledge on general cases. The emergency cases are managed by JR and SR only. So you will get a lot of experience here.

You will be doing very minimal work on surgical super-specialties like Plastics, Surgical Gastro, Surgical onco, Neurosurgery, Pediatric Surgery, Urology et cetera. A unique aspect of AIIMS Rishikesh is its separate IBCC (Integrated Breast care center) under Dept of General Surgery which focuses on the multifaceted management of Breast cases in one place. So you will get the best hands-on experience here.

AIIMS Rishikesh General Surgery has 3 units. Each unit focuses on one or two of the organ systems like the colorectal unit, Hepato-pancreatic-biliary unit, etc.

Despite it all, I think pursuing surgery from a state college is better than the central institutes unless you are willing to do MCh in a particular branch.
