How good is placement at NIT Jamshedpur ECE?

VS
Vaishali Sharma Posted On : March 15th, 2024
Studied B.Tech in CSE from NIT Jamshedpur

The B.Tech ECE branch at NIT Jamshedpur receives really good placements.

You can apply for core, software and analytics firms, based on interest, as all of them visit the department for recruitments. Core companies like L&T, Siemens, Commscope, etc. visit for recruitments. From the IT domain, companies like Amazon, Oracle, UHG etc. visit the department with job offers.

From the Analytics domain, this list includes ZS, MU Sigma, EXL, etc. The department students are placed in each of these domains in a good number, each year. Last year, the placement percentage for B.Tech ECE was 100%. The highest package for this branch was 83.4 LPA, and the average package was 22.03 LPA.

Thus, the ECE placements at NIT Jamshedpur are quite good.

Do you enjoy your life at NIT Surathkal?

TA

Founder, NextBigWhat

One of my friends recently joined NIT Surathkal and shared her experiences of studying at this college. During the orientation, the SJA was filled with students, profs, deans, parents, seniors, and many others. Surprisingly this was followed by a veg together on the beach, and she knew right then that this wasn’t an ordinary college and she was going to have the best college life.

It’s true that the infrastructure, hostels, and mess food aren’t at par with other NITs but she realized that all these things were secondary. What mattered was the abundance of opportunities she was getting and not to forget the serene beach view.

She along with her friends would leave for the classes at the last minute and mostly submit her assignments in time. She enjoyed a lot with her friends dancing and roaming around the campus or gossiping in the evenings sitting outside the sports complex. They would bunk the classes occasionally and play CS, and COD. She looked upon her seniors and faculties and respected them a lot. Overall, her life at NIT Surathkal was nothing like she expected before joining.

Do companies offer PPOs or internships to third years at KIIT?

FS
Falguni Sharma Posted On : July 25th, 2023
Studied at Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology

Yes several companies coming to KIIT offer decent internship opportunities in their third year. However, these companies have rigid criteria and screening processes.

As for the PPO, it completely depends on how well you have performed during your internship and is the quality of work you delivered was at par with the needs of the company. Very few companies offer PPOs beforehand.

Companies like Standard Chartered, HSBC, MuSigma, L&T Infotech, and Mass Recruiters like Accenture, Capgemini, Wipro, etc. offer full-time job opportunities.

It’s important to note that every recruiter has its own unique criteria for selection. For instance, Amazon conducts a test and interview but Dell selects the students on the basis of CGPA. A good placement preparation will take you a long way as the opportunities offered here are in abundance. Try to maintain a good CGPA and if you are in CS/IT, work on your coding skills. Don’t forget to give time to extracurricular activities also.

So it’s better to track the companies visiting around the summer break!

What makes XIMB different from other B-Schools? Let's put it this way, why should a candidate prioritize XIMB over others?

NT
Niharika Taneja Posted On : May 25th, 2021
MBA Marketing, Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (2018)

It is ranked under the top 20 among B-schools in India. Since it was established many years ago, it has a very strong alumni base. The well-educated faculty with industrial experience gives you an edge in your learning and helps you to learn many different ways of a single situation.

As experienced by one of my cousins, the infrastructure is also very eye catchy with high-speed wifi, library, gym, and other sports facilities.

  • XIMB is a residential B-school where you spend most of your time with your seniors and batch-mates that help you to interact with different people to complete your assignments and projects.
  • Xpressions, the management fest of XIMB, is one of the biggest attractions of the management school that prepares you for managing things whether you are in an organizing team or participating team.
  • My cousin told me once that this fest is very beneficial as you see and learn many different concepts apart from your regular curriculum of management

The placement cell is very active providing 100% placements to all that give innumerable opportunities. As seen from the placement of the latest batch of 2019-21 in which my cousin got placed in a very prestigious company:

Package

Amount

Highest CTC

INR 24 LPA

Average CTC

INR 15.51 LPA

Median CTC

INR 14.5 LPA

XIMB focuses more on your overall development from the grass-roots level only that enhances your skills and makes you a perfect master not only in academics but also in co-curricular activities. The institute prepares you for all future endeavors rather than focusing on academic excellence.

S
Sagardeep Posted On : January 3rd, 2023
Studied at Faculty of Management Studies, the University of Delhi

The MBA programme at FMS Delhi is inexpensive, but the placements at FMS are on par with or even exceed the packages received by students at the top three IIMs during campus placements. , at the risk of being forced to do so. As a result, many candidates who are offered admission to IIMs select the FMS Delhi MBA programme as their top choice.

The two-year MBA programme at FMS Delhi costs Rs.1.92 lakhs. The FMS Delhi MBA fees have risen significantly. FMS Delhi MBA fees for its two-year full-time course have now increased to Rs.48,000/- per semester (Rs.1.92 lakhs for two years) from Rs.25,000/- two years ago. The fee is due at the start of the academic year. PWD students will be exempt from paying all fees except the Admission fee and the Identity Card fee.

In addition to this fee, the students have established a registered body, the Management Science Association (MSA), which consists of various societies and charges a membership fee for carrying out student activities. The fee is set by the students on an ongoing basis.

NG

studied at Kalasalingam University

A few of my friends graduated from Kalasalingam University. According to them, the college offers decent academics and infrastructural facilities.

  • The college is accredited by UGC. Teaching is mostly examination-oriented.
  • Classes and examinations are conducted on time. You will need to maintain 80% attendance to sit in the examination.
  • Most faculties are friendly.
  • In college premises, students need to maintain proper dressing. Wearing jeans isn’t allowed for both boys and girls. Girls are only allowed to wear churidar and shawl.
  • The hostel accommodation is decent. The 1st year hostels are separate. Hostel rooms have an occupancy of 3 people. The rooms have all basic amenities. The rooms and washrooms are well-maintained and cleaned regularly. Food offered at the mess is decent.

As we are living amidst a pandemic, you will need only the following things, if you are getting admission to IIT BHU, this year.

  • Get a stable internet connection.
  • Your classes will be held online. So, download Google Classroom and MS Teams.

Learning the basics of Canva and Photoshop will help you a lot. This pretty much sums up the requirements for online IIT BHU. The campus will be open for physical classes following all Covid-19 protocols and updates.

In case, offline classes start, the basic amenities that you need to pack are as follows.

  • Cloths, bedding, a first aid kit, ATM card.
  • Pack all the documents that you may need.
  • You can bring your laptop too. But for the first semester, it won’t be that necessary. You can do most of the course work using your smartphone.

Also, pack smart, don’t bring too many things along with you. You can buy a lot of the iteams in the market near campus.

How would you compare and contrast PMCH and AIIMS, Patna for an undergraduate?

TA
Tithi Aggrawal Posted On : June 3rd, 2023
Lives in New Delhi

AIIMS Patna with its fast-paced growth and the AIIMS tag seems a more lucrative option than PMCH. Here are a few points of comparison between the 2

    • Infrastructure: AIIMS Patna is a winner in this aspect as it is new and has modern facilities and design.
    • Location- PMCH is situated in the very heart of Patna City just 1.5 km from Gandhi Maidan while AIIMS Patna is around 15 km from Gandhi Maidan in PhulwariSharif. However, both colleges are easily accessible.
    • Hygiene- AIIMS Patna maintains a hygienic environment which is not the case for PMCH. You will be surprised to see how frequently the campus is cleaned in a day.
    • Equipment: Owing to its recent establishment, AIIMS Patna has state-of-the-art lab facilities and modern equipment in comparison to PMCH.
    • Faculties- AIIMS Patna has a better and more filtered faculty pool because of the rigorous faculty recruitment process of central institutions like AIIMS.
    • Hostels: AIIMS Patna students get single occupancy rooms right from the first day while PMCH provides shared rooms initially.
  • Peer pool: AIIMS Patna has no reservation quota and thus the peer pool is diverse and comprises the brightest students from all over the country.
  • Research: In general, AIIMS colleges have better research opportunities than state medical colleges.

All in all, both are prestigious medical institutes of the country with AIIMS Patna being a much better choice.
