Presidency University, Kolkata is a better to place to study economics than BITS, Goa, or Hyderabad. Presidency University, Kolkata is well known for its economics department. It also has an excellent subject record.

In the national ranking too Presidency University comes at the top. One of my cousins studies at Presidency University, Kolkata. And he vouches for the Economics degree provided by the institute.

Taking into consideration various factors like fees, faculty, it is safe to say Pracidency University is the better alternative.

But if you are looking for placement after graduation, then joining Presdancyi will not be a good idea. Although their Economics dept. Is well-renowned, they don’t offer placements after graduation. You will have better placement opportunities at BITS Goa.

Both RL Jalappa and Panimalar are good institutions for ECE. Before choosing an institution consider important facts like the faculty, the infrastructure, the placements, events, etc. The placement at RL Jalappa has been a big issue which still exists now. Overall the college seems to be average when it comes to placements. The Panimalar Engineering College also has a good placement cell. Visiting the college websites will give a better idea about the college.

While looking for colleges also go through other institutions offering this course and compare their attributes. There are other universities in India offering better placements, infrastructure and faculty Some of them are Lovely Professional University (LPU), BITS Pilani, Delhi College of Engineering, VIT Vellore, etc.

International Management Institute Delhi has been ranked 28 for MBA by NIRF 2020. IMI Delhi provides post-graduation management and doctoral courses. It is among the only 5 B-Schools in India with AMBA accreditation. Whereas, XISS Ranchi has a NIRF Ranking of 76 for MBA. Both IMI Delhi and XISS Ranchi offer decent Post Graduate Diploma Management programs in Human Resource Management. It is a 2-year duration course.

Admission:

IMI Delhi-

Applicants need to apply online to the institute website and make the payment of fees.

• The applicant must have a bachelor's degree with a minimum of 50% marks in any discipline.

• The application process consists of three stages, i.e. shortlisting of candidates on the basis of the performance in the Common Admission Test (CAT) and Graduate Management Test (GMAT), written test scores, and personal interview.

XISS Ranchi-

• Admission for MBA at XISS through CAT/XAT/GMAT. The institute also conducts written tests and interviews for selection.

• The application procedure at XISS includes registration from the official website of the institution, uploading of details and documents, payment of application form online of INR 2100.

IMI Delhi-

• 100+ companies participate in the recruitment of students from all prominent sectors of the business world.

• As per the reports of 2017-2019 placement stats, PGDM HRM had the highest placement package as 13.3 LPA and the average placement package as 11 LPA.

• The major recruiters are HDFC Bank, Oyo, Lenskart, Radio Mirchi, Sony pictures, Asian paints, etc.

XISS Ranchi-

• 78% of students from the Human Resource Management streams got hired by the recruiters.

• HRMS is one of the most popular courses under PGDM.

• The highest package offered was 14 LPA and the average package offered was 8.5 LPA.

• The top recruiters from HRM include Tata, ACC, and Adani group.

For an HRM, The grand total fees at IMI is much greater than XISS. The placements stats are very good in both XISS and IMI, however, the average placement at XISS is better than IMI.

According to NIRF rankings 2020, the rank of MNNIT Allahabad is #48^th for B.Tech courses and the rank of JU is #117^th for B.Tech courses (in India). MNNIT Allahabad has more number of qualified faculties in their institution as compared to JU. JU as well as MNNIT Allahabad are approved by AICTE. • JU:The selection is completed on the basis of the merit list. The university conducts an entrance exam namelyJET for admission.
• MNNIT Allahabad:The candidate must have completed his/her 10+2 in Science stream acquiring a minimum of 75% marks in the examination.Passing the entrance exam, i.e., JEE Main conducted by CBSE is necessary.

JU:

MNNIT Allahabad:

• The placement rate for the ECE department is 90.63%with a total of 285 companies visiting the campus for placement.
• Some of the top recruiters of the institute are as follows: Indian Navy, Dell, Canon, BHEL, E-bay, Adobe, Bharat Institute of Technology, etc. followed by frequently visiting companies like Google, Infosys, Amazon, Flipkart, HCL, Axis bank, Dell, E-bay, Cisco, etc.
• In the campus selection, the highest salary offered to an ECE student was INR 25.33 LPA and the average salary offered was INR 10.95 LPA.
• Cut off of other state candidate for the general category is ranging between 4615-6752 and for home state general candidate ranged from 3600-7128.

One should not only look for placement rate and salary as the key point to decide which institution is better. It is always advisable to look for other factors also like faculty, city life, which atmosphere suits him/her better, extra facilities, extracurricular activities, etc. Then a conclusion can be drawn to know which institution is better for them.

NIT Durgapur is ranked 46th by NIRF among the top colleges of India whereas the Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology - (IIEST) Shibpur is ranked 19th by NIRF.

Cut-off:

• For the CSE program at NIT Durgapur, the JEE Mains cut-off is 17031 whereas, the cut-off at IIEST Shibpur is 4978-9379.

• The eligibility criteria remain the same to be applicable for the CSE program at both the colleges which is 10+2 in the Science stream with 75% marks.

Fees:

• The 1st year course fee for CSE at NIT Durgapur is INR 1.4 lakhs.

• At IIEST Shibpur the 1st year course fee is INR 1.36 lakhs for CSE.

Placement:

NIT DGP- The placement record of NIT DGP is higher than that of IIEST Shibpur with a placement rate of 85.5%. Top recruiters that visited NIT DGP is Infosys, Amazon, CTS, TCS, PwC. Students received the highest salary package of 32.54 LPA and an average salary of around 9.09 LPA according to the placement statistics of 2019.

IIET Shibpur- IIEST Shibpur witnessed a placement record of 75% for the CSE program in last year’s placement drive. Top recruiters that visited IIEST Shibpur are Microsoft, Maruti, TCS, HSBC Technologies. It witnessed the highest salary package of INR 39.12 LPA and an average salary of 9 LPA in 2019 placements.

The course fees are less at IIEST Shibpur than that at NIT Durgapur for the CSE program. And, also the rankings differ a lot between both the colleges. Placement rates are almost similar for both the colleges and also the salary packages. So, choose the institute which will be more convenient for you.
