How is the CSE department at Haldia Institute of Technology? What about its faculty and placement in recent times?

HR
Himani Roy Posted On : April 8th, 2021
B.Tech (IT) from Haldia Institute of Technology (2019)

Haldia Institute of Technology will be of no help to you if you dream to be the best at coding and be proud of yourself as a CSE graduate in the future.

  • When it comes to placement, it is good. But, if you consider your learning and look at the knowledge that you acquire in four years, you will not be satisfied.
  • Teaching is an art and most of the teachers lack this art at HIT. And, the rest are average. One of my friends attended HIT. During his time, the algorithm which is one of the most important topics was taught by a well-qualified professor. But, due to a lack of the art of teaching, the students lost interest in the subject.
  • Lab classes are under par. The lab assistant throws tantrums as if he is the dean of the college. Also, most of the teachers are alumni of the college. You won’t find the academic environment very encouraging.
  • No exposure. Even if it has been more than 15 years of the establishment of the college, it has failed to foresee Wipro, TCS, Infosys, CTS, and Tech Mahindra. This is quite unfair to the students who deserve more.
  • The CSE department has talented students but the teachers, who shape these minds don’t put in the required effort.

Despite all these, the students have made it to fortune 500 companies such as SAP Labs, Broadcom, Intel Security, Manhattan Associates. All the credits go to their hark-work and sheer determination.

College gives you a degree, it is you who with your hard work and determination, will make a great CSE graduate.

How is BIT Mesra Jaipur campus for CSE? How good are the placements?

AB
Arun Biswas Posted On : August 17th, 2023
Studied at Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra

You will be placed from the BIT Mesra (main) campus after your final semester. As most of the placements happen at Mesra campus, you will get the opportunity to showcase your skills in front of big-shot brands like Amazon, Flipkart, Directi, etc. For the 2023 placements from the Jaipur campus, as per now, the highest package for B.Tech stands at INR 51 LPA and the median package stands at INR 8.2 LPA. A total of 53% B.Tech students from the Jaipur campus have been placed.

Moreover, your degree will have the BIT Mesra tag, your campus name (Jaipur Campus) will not be mentioned in your degree ( this is regardless of whichever campus you belong to). As BIT Mesra is a brand in itself, you will easily grab a good job after your degree. However, you should consult the alumni from the Jaipur campus to know about the teaching faculty for CSE over there. This is because faculty matters as much.

BIT Jaipur campus is a good place to pursue your B.Tech CSE in terms of placements. You should talk to the seniors and alumni of the college to find out about the faculty and overall environment over there.

Which is better BITS Pilani (Pilani Campus) CSE, IIT Indore CSE, or BITS Pilani (Goa/Hyderabad) CSE?

DS
Divya Saraf Posted On : June 17th, 2023
Lives in Hyderabad

BITS Pilani campus is way better than Goa or Hyderabad campus unless you have a specific locational preference. So that leaves you with 2 options; BITS Pilani and IIT Indore.

  • BITS Pilani is one of the oldest technical institutions and is considered a prestigious college often compared to the top IITs. IIT Indore is a second-generation IIT that has made its name because of its exponential growth.
  • One of the major factors to consider while deciding between IIT Indore and BITS Pilani is the fees. IIT Indore fees are ?2.34 Lakhs for the first year while the entire BITS Pilani fee just for the first campus is INR 2,31,500. So unless you have any financial constraints, BITS Pilani CSE would be a better option.
  • The best part is that BITS Pilani has no reservation policy which makes for an excellent peer culture over there.
  • BITS Pilani has an elaborate alumni pool and is thus better than IIT Indore.
  • The placement scenario of both the colleges is similar so that should be your last concern.

So unless you have any financial issues, BITS Pilani is the best choice unless you are adamant about the IIT tag.

B.E.(Hons.) Electrical Engineering, BITS Pilani, Hyderabad Campus (2018)

For CSE, BITS Hyderabad is better. The course structure and curriculum are the same for all three of the BITS campus. The placements are also similar. It is the location that differentiates the two campuses. Being an IT hub, Hyderabad offers better live projects, internships, and placement opportunities. BITS Hyderabad placement highlights show the average CTC for CSE to be around INR 22 LPA.

Is ECE good at IIIT Allahabad?

SS
Shikha Shukla Posted On : July 5th, 2021
Studied Computer Science at Indian Institute of Information Technology, Allahabad (2019)

There are a lot of things that come into consideration while choosing a course. One of my friends opted for ECE at IIIT Allahabad, let me share his experience, with which you might get a proper understanding.

  • If your AIR is around 7k-10k then, it is really good. Because at this rank you don’t consider yourself for branches like CS/ECE/IT in top NIT’s.
  • When you look at the insights of IIIT-A, you find it is underrated.
  • Although the college is younger than most of the top NIT’s, some professors are really outstanding.
  • The labs here are better as compared to the NITs.
  • Projects are assigned to students which carry the weightage of 5 credits. The projects start right from the fifth semester.
  • The VLSI lab has various machines and instruments which help students to work on VLSI projects.

Choosing the best college for you depends on the various parameters like your interest, location, professors, infrastructure, laboratories, culture, academic records, alumni network, and placement. Thus, choose wisely.

What is a better option to take, IIT Bombay for mechanical or BITS Pilani for CSE?

A
Amit Posted On : July 12th, 2024
Btech student at IIT Bombay

I am a second-year BTech student at IIT Bombay. My suggestion would be that you go for Mechanical at IIT Bombay. IIT Bombay is placed #3 in the Engineering category by NIRF 2023, and #118 by QS World Rankings 2025. IIT Bombay is currently among the top 3 IITs, and one of the fastest-growing engineering institutes in India.

Here is a comparison table between IIT Bombay and BITS Pilani:

Parameters

IIT Bombay

BITS Pilani

NIRF 2023 Engineering Ranking

#3

#25

Total Course Fee

INR 8.75 Lakhs

INR 23.9 Lakhs

QS World University Ranking

#118

951-1000

Highest Package 2023

INR 3.67 CPA (overall)

INR 60.75 LPA (overall)

Average Package 2023

INR 21.82 LPA (overall)

INR 30.37 LPA (overall)

Top Recruiters

American Express, Deloitte, IBM, NEC Japan, Syntel, etc.

Google, Amazon, Cisco, Microsoft, Adobe, etc.

In 2023, 104 students were placed from B.E. CSE at BITS Pilani, and the CTC Range was INR 11-38 LPA.

IIT Bombay is a much more affordable institution than BITS Pilani, and it has equally good placements. This makes it stand much higher in terms of ROI. Moreover, the IIT Bombay tag holds a lot of repute both nationally and globally.

Because of these reasons, I would suggest you choose IIT Bombay Mechanical over BITS Pilani CSE.

Which branch should I choose: B.Tech (Electrical Engineering) in IIT Roorkee or Dual Degree (Electrical Engineering) in IIT Kharaghpur?

S
Shruti Posted On : July 3rd, 2024
student at IIT Roorkee

According to me, B.Tech (Electrical engineering) from IIT Roorkee is a better option due to the following reasons:

  • B.Tech electrical engineering is a 4 year program while dual degree (electrical engineering) is a five year program. This means that choosing IIT Roorkee will help you enter the workforce earlier.
  • The B.Tech curriculum focuses equally on theoretical and practical learning. This will prepare you for industry roles.

On the other hand, the dual degree curriculum gives more importance to research and specialisation in electrical engineering.

  • Here are the 2023 placement figures for IIT Roorkee and IIT KGP:
Parameters IIT KGP (Phase-I) IIT Roorkee
Highest Package INR 2.6 CPA INR 1.3 CPA
(Highest International- INR 1.06 CPA)
Top Recruiters (2024) OLA, OneByZero, SecPod, SIRION LABS, TCS Research, and others. American Express, Barclays, Chegg Inc, Flipkart, Google, Microsoft, Myntra, and more.

Unfortunately, the branch-wise placements are not available for either of these IITs.

I would recommend you choose B.Tech Electrical at IIT Roorkee over Dual Degree in Electrical at IIT KGP due to the above reasons.
