How good is NIT Goa?

AM
Ajay Mishra Posted On : August 20th, 2021
MBA in Marketing, Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (2011)

NIT Goa is an Institute of National Importance. A lot of my friends studied at NIT Goa and here are some things about the college I got to know from them. Let us look at the various aspects of the institute to decide if it is really good for you or not.

Infrastructure

  • It operates from the temporary campus at Goa Engineering College (GEC) at Farmagudi, Ponda in Goa.
  • Though the campus is small, it is really a lush green campus and has all the modern facilities.
  • All the necessary machines and equipment needed for running a fully functional lab of an engineering college are present.
  • The faculty are really good and cooperative.

Hostel and sports facilities

  • The college houses the students in rented 2 BHK flats on the GEC campus.
  • The hostels are not cleaned properly and there are frequent water shortages.
  • The mess food is also quite average. Thus mess and hostel are the weakest links of NIT Goa.
  • For sports, the campus has courts and grounds nearby.
  • The college also has its own mini sports room which has many indoor sports equipment.

Campus life

  • You are in Goa and thus beach parties, waterfall visits, and nature trails are very common.
  • You will also have many events going on throughout the year in Goa.
  • Apart from that, the campus hosts a tech-fest (Technival) and a cultural fest (Raag).
  • The temporary campus has its own day canteens which you can enjoy during study breaks.

Placements

Below given are some of the details of the campus placement drive at the college during the year 2020-21.

Categories NIT Goa
Eligible Students 52
Students Placed 47
Placement Percentage 90.38%
Companies Visited 29
Highest CTC 20 LPA
Average CTC 7.61 LPA
Lowest CTC 3.5 LPA
Recruiting Companies Reliance, ZS Associates, L&T, Capgemini, etc.

To conclude, the college is actually good. Yes, you will not get the full facilities of a permanent campus and the hostel facilities are sub-par. But for an educational institution, it is quite good.

Is NIT Goa good??

SR
Supraja Rane Posted On : April 5th, 2021
Btech Electrical and Electronics Engineering, National Institute of Technology, Goa

My brother was a student at this institute. He scored 180 in JEE Main and bagged an AIR of 13000. The day he entered the institute, he realized this wasn't for him. But as time passed, he got familiar with the college and even started enjoying his time there. Here are some snippets of his experience at the institute.

  • One of the best faculty members taught them.
  • They had a campus of their own, even though temporary.
  • The quality of placements has increased. The placements in this campus are considered to have the best status among all the new NITs.
  • Sports facilities are building up and the administration is also coming up with various opportunities.
  • NIT Goa is considered to be the 12th best among all the 30 NITs.
  • The institute is 0% tolerant of ragging. No cases of ragging have come up in recent times.
  • NIT Goa is far better than GEC Goa. So your choice should always be NIT Goa.

Being a part of the first few batches my brother had many opportunities. They even started a cultural festival in college. My brother does not regret choosing NIT Goa one bit. Most of his batchmates secured job offers at reputed MNCs.

Which is better, IISc or IIT Bombay?

SG
Shree Gupta Posted On : April 5th, 2022
Ph.D. at Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore (2020)

It actually depends on your degree. For bachelor's courses, IIT Bombay is a better choice. IISc started delivering UG courses recently. But for PG courses like M.Tech or Ph.D. IISc is definitely the better option.

B.Tech is the most valued course at IIT Bombay. It gives the UG student a sense of superiority. While each department of IISc has a limited number of PG and Ph.D. students. The building and resources are completely separate for UG and PG students.

The student-professor ratio of IISc is around 7-8 students per professor. While it is around 25-30 students per professor at IIT Bombay.

IISc MTech branches have a better placement record as well. Good placement opportunities, multidisciplinary approach, research focus, are some of the perks of joining IISc.

Is Manipal University good for middle class people?

RP
Radhika Pathak Posted On : June 1st, 2021
Studied Mechatronics at Manipal Institute Of Technology (2021)

Yes, it is quite good for middle-class students. Some even take education loans to study at the Manipal University. You will find students from a similar financial background as you.

The university has a very good reputation both nationally and internationally. It is known to offer the best opportunities for placements. One good point is that it does not sponsor seats, unlike various other institutes.

However, there are other things to take into account. A huge number of students arrive from very affluent lifestyles. Students sometimes fall trap of unlawful activities outside the campus. It is because of factors like that they suffer from distraction both academically and mentally.

Hence, if you have an inclination towards it and you are keen to take forward your career without further hindrance or distraction, then Manipal University can be a good choice nonetheless.

What are the disadvantages of NIT Trichy?

KS
Kalyani Shrivastava Posted On : July 24th, 2023
NIT Trichy

The disadvantages faced by NIT Trichy students because of its remote location and hot climate are known to many so I will talk about issues no one has yet commented on.

  • North Indians face major language barriers here, especially with shopkeepers, teachers, and peers. They are least interested in learning the language of the locals.
  • NIT Trichy does not offer any effective treatment for the street dogs that roam inside the campus. You can find dogs everywhere like hostels, canteens, and messes. They should either be sent to the forest authority or should be treated fairly. Many times I have seen dogs die because of malnutrition.
  • Students hailing from Telangana face major ragging issues.
  • NIT Trichy has no amusement places nearby where you can hang out with friends.

I hope the administration takes measures against these issues.

How good is an MBA from IP university New Delhi?

HV
Harsh Verma Posted On : January 7th, 2022
studied at University of Delhi (2019)

According to the reviews online, the majority of the students said it is not a good option to pursue MBA from IP University, Delhi.

Here are some reasons why:

  • More focus is given on theoretical preparation than the practicals. Students often complain about the incomplete training.
  • If you wish to learn about your course, it will not provide you with the satisfaction. Because mostly students tend to mug up last year’s questions and answer books.
  • Scoring is easy even if you study only 2-4 days before the exam.
  • The same 10-15 questions are repeated every year.
  • If you want to build yourself, you mostly have to do it all on your own, because the college won't make much effort.
  • Placements here are average. Only the top 10 students are usually given access to sit for the placements.

Therefore a lot of students do not get the proper opportunities to get a job. If you are willing to work on your own and are confident enough, then only opt for IP University, Delhi.

How is NIT Rourkela?

SV
Sudeeksha Verma Posted On : August 9th, 2023
B.Tech from National Institute of Technology, Rourkela (2020)

The standard of education and the institute's credibility can alone be determined by going through the rankings. So, I will be stating some highlights pertaining to the campus life at BIT Mesra, in general,

  • BIT Mesra has an active club culture with more than 60 clubs promoting a number of extracurricular activities
  • NIT Rourkela has the 2nd largest campus in India and is a great place to be at.
  • The hostel life is also great with minimal restrictions at least for boys.
  • The mess is in close proximity to the hostel and the level of hygiene is commendable here. The mess follows a 4-meal per day system wherein Breakfast is served in the morning at around 7 -9.30 am, lunch at 12–1:30 pm, snacks at 5–6 pm, and finally dinner at 8–9:30 pm.
  • Many night canteens run till 3 in the morning to cater to the midnight cravings of the students.
  • The institute is a heaven for sports lovers. It has facilities for almost every kind of sport like football, cricket, hockey, volleyball, basketball, and kabaddi.
  • The internet connection facilities are however poor and this matter needs to be taken care of.

You will be surprised to know that my friends in other NITs keep complaining about the campus life there while I was very satisfied with the quality of campus life offered at NIT Rourkela. So, in addition to academics, NIT Rourkela also offers a vibrant college life!

How is life at NIT Delhi?

DS
Darshan Sethi Posted On : October 10th, 2023
Lives in Delhi

Life at NT Delhi is both challenging as well as rewarding in terms of the opportunities it offers both academically and non-academically. The relatively small batch size ensures a good rapport between the peers and also with the faculty. The small intake also ensures a decent package for everyone during placements.

  • Sentience is the annual cultural and technical fest of NIT Delhi. Although is not held at the same level as other engineering colleges, it is extravagant and dynamic.
  • The permanent campus has excellent hostel facilities with provisions of AC rooms for which students are required to pay an extra 10k.
  • The Nilerd campus and SRHC also have decent hostel facilities. The mess food is average and this campus is almost 5km away from the main campus. The commute is easy as a bus runs at the college’s expense to transport you to and fro both the campuses 5 times a week.
  • The NILERD campus has decent sports facilities at least in comparison to the main campus which has sports facilities still under construction.
  • NIT Delhi does not have an active club life.
  • Students get a plethora of opportunities to participate in various activities and sports due to the low intake.
  • The college is located in close proximity to many IT hubs so many companies visit the campus during placements.
NIT Delhi has a number of canteens on campus to cater to various necessities like stationary, snacks, etc.

Life at NIT Delhi is pretty engaging and dynamic offering ample opportunities to build a successful career.
