EE(P) at IIT Delhi typically sees higher closing salaries than ECE at IIT Kharagpur. Here’s why EE(P) at IITD is more desirable:
Overall, the combination of these factors makes EE(P) at IITD a more attractive option!
IIT Delhi and IIT Roorkee both offer strong B.Tech programs in Computer Science Engineering, but IIT Delhi has the edge when it comes to placements and career outcomes. The internship opportunities at IIT Delhi are abundant, with major companies like Amazon and Google actively recruiting students, which is a significant advantage for landing high-paying jobs. While IIT Roorkee also provides good internship prospects, the overall experience at IIT Delhi, along with its industry connections and higher faculty expertise, can lead to better job packages. If you're aiming for top-tier placements and a vibrant campus life, IIT Delhi is the way to go, while IIT Roorkee is a solid choice for those looking for a balanced experience with a slightly different focus.
IIT Delhi is the clear winner here.
Reasons include:
Additionally, IIT Delhi is located in the heart of Delhi (specifically South Delhi) and is conveniently close to the Delhi airport. There are plenty of restaurants, malls, theatres, and bars to enjoy on weekends.
In contrast, the nearest city to IIT Kharagpur is Kolkata, which is about 140 km away. The closest decent restaurant to IIT Kharagpur is a Domino’s outlet, and it doesn’t even deliver pizzas inside the campus!
Also, while I usually don’t put much stock in QS Rankings, it’s worth noting that they rank IIT Delhi higher than IIT Kharagpur.
Cheers!

In my opinion, IIT Delhi's Electrical Engineering (Power) is the better choice if your long-term goal is a solid job. Contrary to popular belief, there isn't a boom in Civil Engineering right now.
However, keep in mind that Electrical Engineering (Power) is a very challenging branch!
IIT Delhi's B.Tech in Energy Engineering stands out for its vibrant campus life and world-class faculty, offering a challenging curriculum that prepares you for real-world problems. However, if you're looking for a more hands-on approach and a diverse range of subjects, IIT Kharagpur's Instrumentation Engineering could be more appealing, especially given its competitive placement opportunities. While IIT Delhi has an edge in terms of overall prestige and placement stats, IIT Kharagpur might provide a more well-rounded experience with practical applications.
Personally, I'd lean towards IIT Delhi for its strong focus on energy and technology, but if you're more interested in instrumentation and a broader engineering foundation, IIT Kharagpur could be the better fit.
You can easily land non-core jobs here! Many companies are coming to recruit. However, I don't have much knowledge about Agricultural and Food Engineering.
IIT Delhi for B.Tech in Civil Engineering offers a solid academic environment with highly qualified faculty and a strong focus on self-learning, but the campus life may feel a bit traditional compared to the vibrant atmosphere at IIIT Hyderabad. IIIT Hyderabad, on the other hand, is known for its cutting-edge Computer Science curriculum, excellent tech placements, and a lively campus culture with student-run clubs and events, making it a great choice for those looking to dive into the tech world. If you’re passionate about engineering and prefer a well-rounded campus experience, IIT Delhi is a good pick, but if you’re inclined towards computer science and want a more dynamic college life, IIIT Hyderabad stands out.
Two students studied OENA at IIT KGP. One is now a successful analyst at CITIBANK after completing a dual degree in OENA + MBA from VGSOM while in college. The other is about to graduate from Harvard Business School.
What I'm trying to say is that you can find success in OENA, but it's rare in the core field. Pursue OENA if you want, but consider switching to better opportunities. This generally holds true for all branches at all colleges, except CS.
