NLSIU reserves 25% of seats for Karnataka students. At least 25% of students admitted to NLSIU programs are Karnataka students. However, the remaining seats are open to students from other parts of India. 

Admission to NLSIU’s BA LLB (Hons.) program is based on the performance of candidates in CLAT. Since 2021, there has been 25% of reservation at NLSIU for Karnataka students, under the NLSIU Inclusion and Expansion Plan 2021–25.

NLSIU (National Law School of India University) is one of India's most prestigious law schools. BA LLB (Hons.) is the flagship program at NLSIU, the admissions into which are purely based on the candidates’ CLAT scores. 

10th-grade results are not a part of the eligibility criteria for admission to NLSIU. A student's 10th result is only considered a good academic record, and this will be useful in applying for internships, scholarships, further studies, or employment opportunities in the future. 

To be eligible for the BA LLB (Hons.) program at NLSIU, a candidate must:

1. Pass their 10+2 (or equivalent exam) with a min. of 45% marks (or its equivalent grade). This is the percentage requirement for General, OBC and PwD candidates. If the candidate belongs to the SC or ST category, they must secure 40% marks in 10+2.
2. Must appear in the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT).
3. Candidates appearing for their qualifying exam (10+2 or equivalent) in the same year, can also sit for the CLAT exam. But their admission to the course will be subject to their fulfilling the conditions stipulated in the regulations, and producing supporting documentary evidence at the time of admission.
4. There is no upper age limit for BA LLB (Hons.) admissions.

GNLU’s LLM merit list for JK residents has been released for the academic year 2024–25 on June 6, 2024. The selected candidates in the merit list were required to pay INR 2,62,200 on or before June 12, 2024 by 5:00 pm to confirm their seats.

The difficulty level of the IIT Kharagpur law entrance exam is easy to moderate. But it's also highly competitive as a large number of students aim for admission to this prestigious institution. 

The entrance test for both LLB and LLM is conducted in CBT mode. All questions for LLB are MCQ type, carrying 2 marks each. There is negative marking. Questions comprise of Maths, Science, English, Logical reasoning and Legal Aptitude.

The answer highly depends on the NLU in question. If you are getting an admission into an NLU that is ranked lower to IIT Kharagpur, I would recommend you choose the latter. 

Moreover, IIT Kharagpur’s LLB is designed to provide knowledge regarding Intellectual Property Rights. On the other hand, NLUs offer a general BA LLB/LLB program. 

I am a student at the law department of IIT Kharagpur, which is known as the ‘Rajiv Gandhi School of Intellectual Property Law’. The department offers an LLB Honours in Intellectual Property Rights, an LLM, and a Doctoral Program in Law. 

The department students receive job training through workshops, clinical legal education, and courtroom exercises. We also have a wide selection of electives and a variety of subjects. The department alumni currently hold prominent positions in business, law companies, academia, and other legal institutions. Many alumni have successfully launched their own legal firms as well.

The placements at our department are also good. During the 2023 placements, the median package offered to LLB graduates was INR 9 LPA, and the median package of LLM graduates was INR 12 LPA at IIT Kharagpur.

Yes, SLS Pune does have uniforms for its students. This helps in maintaining uniformity and building discipline among the students of SLS. Upon taking admission at SLS Pune, you will have to wear the designated uniform.

The uniform prescribes a full sleeve shirt in white color with black blazer and black trousers, for both girls and boys. The dress code is strictly black and white. One can also wear a decent Kurta/ T-shirt/ Top in white color, with black trousers or jeans. One can wear casual clothes on Wednesday, but they must be ethnic and mostly Khadi clothes.

SLS Pune is a much older institution, while NLU Jabalpur has very recently come into existence. SLS Pune has a vast alumni network, and a strong industry presence for its legal studies. Even though NLU Jabalpur is a National Law University, it will take quite some time to reach the level of SLS Pune. 

Thus, SLS Pune is a better institution in comparison to NLU Jabalpur.

Yes, SLS Pune provides direct admission through its Management Quota seats. The number of management quota seats at SLS Pune is 15% of the total number of seats. The eligibility criteria for management quota admission is that the students must have passed 10+2 from a recognized board with a minimum of 45%. Other than that, they must appear for the entrance exam after filling out the application form for SLS Pune.
