Which is better in terms of a better study environment, academic quality and faculty GBPUAT Pantnagar or GBPEC Pauri Garhwal?

RS
Rajesh Sharma, Posted On : November 1st, 2021
B.Tech from Uttarakhand Technical University (2017)

It is recommended that you do not opt for GBPEC Pauri. Here are some reasons why:

  • It lacks basic life amenities and you won't be able to get proper medical facilities.
  • Availability of water will be a big problem.
  • The hygiene level of mess and hostels here is extremely low.
  • The faculty and quality of education are not at par with GBPUAT or even DIT.
  • GBPUAT Pantnagar is a better college than GBPEC Pauri in terms of infrastructure, location, and faculty.
  • The administration is suffering from internal politics and no attention is given to student grievances.

You can rather go for DIT or GEU Dehradun which will provide a comparatively better environment and facilities.

How is the life in griet?

JG
Jahnvi Gupta Posted On : May 2nd, 2021
Studied Mechanical Engineering at Gokaraju Rangaraju Institute of Engineering and Technology (2009)

My brother is an alumnus from this college from the batch of 2009. He has visited the campus a couple of times since then.

The following points are a detailed description of life at GRIET:

  • The college atmosphere is amazing. It has a hilltop view with a great infrastructure. If you want to avoid college and self-transport, you can do that, but you won’t be allowed transport post the college entrance gate.
  • There was a separate canteen as well as a bus for boys and girls when he used to be a student in this college. It’s like a boys’ or girls’ college despite being co-ed.
  • A separate block is dedicated to the pharmacy department along with an average-looking open auditorium.
  • The students of Mechanical and Civil are often heard saying that their faculty was not so good and are average.
  • My brother’s faculty was good at subjective knowledge. However, they were unable to inject it into the minds of the students.
  • GRIET has an all-in-one playground. It allows the students to play cricket, football, volleyball on a single ground and also has a separate court for basketball.
  • A technical fest named PRAGNYA is organized by the college. You are allowed to come up with good technical games and allowed to organize as well as volunteer. The best idea is selected from the bunch of ideas by the IEEE team.
  • They have another cultural fest called PULSE. This fest isn’t so entertaining or interesting. Half of it has some not-so-entertaining ramp walks and a few dance performances.

You cannot use mobile phones on campus. They are even banned in the canteen. Once you enter the campus, it’s impossible to get out of that place before the scheduled time.

How do I make the best out of IIM Ahmedabad and B-School in general?

KD
Kulkarni Dhiraj Posted On : November 23rd, 2022
PGP 2013-2015

The primary thing to focus on while at IIM Ahmedabad or any other B School is the journey and not the end. Don’t start your college with the job as the end result. Upgrade your mindset. College is much more than just placements and jobs.

College life is about life struggles, a lot of knowledge, knowing your own self, finding your area or interests and pursuing your passion. So I would say to make the most of the B School, keep the thoughts of your future job aside and adopt a nature of learning new things every day.

Make the most of the liberal days in your life because once you start working your freedom will be restricted.

There are a few interesting options to explore at the weekends in Vadodara. If you stay in MSU hostel and do not have any vehicle to commute then you can check on the following things:

SD
Saptarshi Dasgupta Posted On : June 29th, 2021
Studied B.Tech from Indian Institute of Information Technology, Vadodara (2019)

The college life at IIIT Vadodara is very exciting. It does not involve only academics like other colleges but provides a blend of academics and co-curricular activities to all the students with comfortable surroundings.

  • Unlike other colleges, the academic pressure is less on students and normally the classes are from 8.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. This gives various opportunities to students to pursue their interests in many other fields as well.
  • Normally, it is seen that students are overburdened by the assignments and other projects but the teachers at IIIT Vadodara give proper time to students to submit their assignments or any other related projects.
  • There are various clubs and societies in the college like literary club, music club, dramatic society, gaming club, photography club, and even especially designed coding club.
  • The hostel life is very exciting for the students. Though there is little shortage of basic amenities students manage to get them by nearby shops.
  • A hostel is a place where they develop never-ending bonds with helping seniors or batchmates and create innumerable memories that they could cherish for their entire life ahead.

If you get a chance for admission to IIIT Vadodara, do not miss it. It is really worth spending the entire four years of your life here.

How is life at NIT Warangal? Are sports and other activities encouraged?

KS
Kalyan Shastri Posted On : August 19th, 2023
Lives in Warangal

My brother completed his B.Tech first year at NIT Warangal. These are his views about NITW-

  1. Hostels- Boys hostels at NIT Warangal are well-maintained. The new girls' hostels are good but the old ones, Sarojini Hall and Priyadarshini Hall, need improvement. For first-year girl students, a single room is shared by four individuals and you will be allotted a room in Sarojini Hall. For first-year boys, the room is shared by two students. First-year students have a hostel curfew of 9 p.m. which is extended to 11 p.m. for seniors. Girls and boys are not allowed into each other’s hostels. You may not find the campus gender-neutral.
  2. Sports and Extracurriculars- You will find all the equipment for sports and extracurricular activities. The campus will provide you with all the facilities. But in terms of encouragement for the same, there is none. You can pursue extracurriculars for your all around development.
  3. Studies- NIT Warangal is known for its academic excellence. The faculty over there is good and the labs have all the necessary equipment.
  4. Placements- NIT Warangal offers good placements, requiring that you maintain a good CGPA.

NITW offers you a good experience along with a bright future. You will get all the growth opportunities at NIT Warangal.

AC
Anudeep Chaterjee Posted On : September 20th, 2023
National Institute of Technology, Srinagar

The mess food is of everywhere quality and not worth the fees they charge. the situation in most places. On any typical day at NIT Srinagar the menu looks like this

  • Breakfast: Bread Pakoda and Tea
  • Lunch: Rice, Chapati, Aloo Matar, Chola Dal and Salad
  • Veg Dinner: Rice, Roti, Shahi Paneer and Arhar Dal
  • Non-veg Dinner: Rice, Roti, Chicken and Arhar Dal

Non-veg dinner is not served on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Evening Tea is served with a pack of Biscuits or Samosa. Overall the taste and fees charge us better than most NITs. Moreover, mess here in NIT Srinagar provides both rice and roti, but most NITs provide only one of them.

How is the gym in IIT Madras?

TB
Tushar Banerjee Posted On : March 30th, 2023
studied at Indian Institute of Technology, Madras

IIT Madras has excellent gym facilities and is a savior for health freaks. You can find all weight training equipment not available even in the local gyms. Some highlights of the gym at IIT Madras are

  • The gym has no treadmills but one can make use of the synthetic track to run.
  • A wide range of weights is available for both beginners and experts. Beginners might face some problems getting the required weight but once you reach 10+ kgs, it’s free.
  • There are 3 trainers to guide you who are quite good at what they do.
  • The timings of the gym are from early morning to late night.
  • There is a separate girls' facility where boys are strictly prohibited to enter.
  • The ambiance is decent and you can always ask for help from your seniors though some might intimidate you.

As a beginner, decide on a fixed workout plan and work on it daily and you will feel the difference.

What is it like to study at IMT Ghaziabad?

DJ
Devesh Jain Posted On : January 25th, 2023
PGDM from Institute of Management Technology, Ghaziabad (2016)

IMT Ghaziabad’s campus life is quite a rigorous and dynamic one. You enter the college all naive and unaware and leave the college as one of the most confident and informed people. They nourish you and make you industry ready.

To get a clearer experience of life at IMT Ghaziabad, I have explained in detail the term-wise experience of my cousin who recently passed out of this college.

First term: Right when you join the college, you will have to sit for interviews to get into various companies, attend classes, attend Personality Development Programs, and do various other assignments. All this will make you extremely busy during the initial months. The term ends with Final Exams which are the most difficult. You can get help from committees that arrange examination sessions.

Second Term: The rigor only increases in the second term. Apart from the regular classes and assignments you now have to get involved in various events held by the committees. You will have to contribute by getting sponsorship for the committee, designing the concept of the event, marketing the event, getting participation, etc. Once the event has been successfully wound up, you can enjoy the IMT Committee parties which are real stress boosters. This term too ends with Final Exams which are the climax of stress and hard work.

Third Term: While many may think that after 2 hectic terms, you will now get accustomed to the rigorous, and the third term may seem a bit less stressful, you are wrong. This term is the most stressful period of the first term owing to the Summer Placements. You have to constantly prepare for placements and the campus is unusually busy and everyone is working hard. During the placement week, the companies visit, and most of the students who get placed are relaxed. Yet the ones who fail to get placed keep preparing as some companies visit after the placement week also. This term also witnessed another round of commuter events which because of clashing with placements are a real challenge. Students somehow manage both together. This term is famous for the great entertainment Management event Passion organized by SAWC and the Cultural Committee. The event ends with a freshers' party and the term ends with Final exams yet again.

Fourth Term: This is the most relaxing term as you are now over with the placements and events. The electives are also fewer and everything sails smoothly. You can relax and prepare well for your internship.

This is how a typical year passes at IMT Ghaziabad.
