There are various pros and cons of joining IIM Kashipur:
Pros:
Located at a wonderful intersection of industry (300+ operational plants of companies like Parle, Titan, Mahindra, Dabur, and others), tourism (places like Corbett National Park, Nainital, Mussorie, and so on), and agriculture (sugar cane producers, agricultural university, and so on), there is a lot of scope for multidisciplinary learning and management education application.
The new campus has 200+ acres of sprawling lush greenery as well as all relevant amenities. IIM Kashipur was the first to do so. Among the new IIMs with the highest number of international placements/summer internships and comparable, if not better, overall placements than all other new IIMs. IIM Kashipur is a place for fostering new ideas and feeling satisfied when they come to fruition.
Cons:
If you believe in a traditional legacy-driven culture, and the comfort of having a tremendously established alumni pool, then IIM Kashipur may be suitable for you but after 10 years or so.
If you like to contribute new ideas and believe in working towards them, or maybe in organizing events as formative batches to make them a legacy for your juniors to carry forward, then IIM Kashipur is the place for you.
As a student at IIM Sirmaur, you will have the opportunity to learn from faculty members of IIM Lucknow, which, along with the diverse peer-to-peer learning in your batch, creates a dynamic and stimulating learning environment. The campus has several committees and clubs that ensure that you are active and engaged throughout your time here. Additionally, being part of the initial batches of students at IIM Sirmaur also provides unique freedoms and opportunities for you to be a trailblazer.
The program includes regular guest lectures by industry leaders, which provide valuable insights into the business world. Additionally, there is a one-month international immersion program in association with ICPE and Jožef Stefan Institute, Slovenia. The quality of students at IIM Sirmaur is outstanding, with many students having CAT percentiles as high as 99.5x.
The location of the campus is also a plus, with two airports (Dehradun and Chandigarh airports) located just two and a half hours away, and the beautiful river Yamuna flowing just beside the campus, surrounded by serene mountains, making it a beautiful place to live.
Delhi University almost every year comes up with a different set of rules and regulations.
So even though you can get admission by securing 2.5% more than the declared cut off, however, the final list for General candidates was 97.25% last year. You might have to score a 99.75% in your class 12th examinations.
In case cut offs increase, you will need a perfect 100 in 4 subjects. So getting in is really difficult.
If you are not from the general category, then the cut offs will be lower and you might get through even without mathematics.
However, in the beginning, the admission requirements change often, hence you may never know that some small changes in the rules might get you in. So always follow the official website of DU for any updates.

My uncle works as a full-time faculty member at NIT Srinagar and has been in frequent contact with the faculty members. From what he has observed only one faculty member till date has been partial in grading. However, he was just a contractual faculty member and did not stay for a long time. He was biased towards Kshmiris both in terms of teaching and grading. Apart from him, he never came across a single teacher who has been biased towards or against locals or non-locals. They don’t care about the cultural background of the students and focus only on academics.
So rest assured, you won’t find any kind of partiality here!
Let me make this clear, there is no fixed specialization that will help you make it into counseling.
For working professionals: Companies that visit the campus for placements usually prefer Finance and Operations background. People with a technological background opt for tech consulting while many go for Sales and Operations consulting as well. The companies are not interested in specialization, rather they look for how good your CV is. So, we can say a guy from a pure manufacturing background who is currently studying marketing can also make it into consulting.
For freshers: The best specialization to choose to make it into a big consulting firm for a fresher is Finance. The concepts included in the Finance specialization are more connected with consulting. So if your area of interest covers both, Finance and Consulting, then opt for Finance while the target for consulting. As far as Operations is concerned, it’s not easy to get admission. Even if you do the chances are lower unless you do internships and projects.
Lastly, remember there is no direct relation between the choice of specialization and placements. Even if you fail to get into your desired company, know that it is not the end. You can slowly achieve your goal provided you are certain of it and are working hard towards achieving it.
The competition for admission to most Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) is typically fierce, as there are a large number of highly qualified candidates vying for a limited number of spots. While some IIMs may be more selective than others, the difference in the opportunities available to students after graduating from one IIM versus another is usually not significant, with most top recruiters hiring from a range of IIMs. This is especially true for IIMs like IIM Shillong and IIM Trichy, which have strong placement records and productive faculty.
To give a sense of the level of competition at IIM Shillong, it may be helpful to consider the percentile scores that are typically required for shortlisting. While an older IIM like IIM Ahmedabad or IIM Lucknow may not consider candidates with a CAT percentile score below 99% for most general category students (with some exceptions for certain groups such as economics/art students, females, and other deserving categories), IIM Shillong or IIM Trichy may consider candidates with a score as low as 98% or even slightly lower.
It's worth noting that this year, the competition for admission to IIM Shillong may be somewhat less intense due to the expansion of the batch sizes at the ABCL campuses. Campus A and B are planning batches of 450 students, with a goal of increasing to 650 students in the next few years. As a result, candidates may have a better chance of being admitted to IIM Shillong this year.
Overall, the admission process at IIM Shillong involves an initial review of the CAT merit list, followed by the consideration of scores for academic proficiency and the selection of a pool of 1000 students for every 200 seats at the campus for interviews. During the interview stage, only the candidates' CAT scores and their performance in the interview are taken into account. The final selection is made based on the ability of the candidates to adapt to the challenges of the corporate world and their potential to excel academically, as indicated by their high CAT scores.
If you are goal-oriented and serious about getting into FMS Delhi then all you need to do is score the highest CAT percentile you can. This is because, unlike other B Schools, FMS does not focus on your past mistakes or academics. Rather it focuses more on how ambitious you are now to achieve your goal which is currently to get into FMS. Some tips that will help you achieve a high CAT score and make it into FMS are
Lastly, remember that the mock tests do not reflect your CAT score. I have seen instances where people have scored 70% in mock but 99+ in CAT. So it’s just for practice. Don’t let the mock score demotivate you to give up. The ultimate key is to revise, practice, and have patience.
IIM Ahmedabad has decided to give little importance to the bachelor's degree components from the shortlisting criteria and to apply it uniformly to all the candidates. The AR now will be computed on a scale of 25 (considering class 10th marks, class 12th marks, and the candidate's work experience) and the points will be pro-rated to 35.
The following formula will now be used for computing the Composite Score (CS):
CS = 0.35* Pro-rated AR Score/35 + 0.65* Normalized overall CAT Score
Pro-rated AR Score= [(AR score computed by taking 0 points for Bachelor’s degree)/25] * 35.
