Before checking if your profile is eligible for getting shortlisted, let’s go through the admission criteria of IIM Trichy once.

Stage 1: Criteria for shortlisting candidates for PI

  • Quantitative Aptitude- 70
  • Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning- 70
  • Verbal & Reading Comprehension- 70
  • Total (Overall Percentile)- 92

From your profile, your CAT percentile of 96.33 is enough to get you shortlisted for the PI round. Even your sectional cutoff is pretty good.

Stage 2: Criteria to Select Candidates post Personal Interview (PI)

Parameter

Weightage

CAT

50%

PI

25%

Verbal Comprehension

3%

Class 12 scores

3%

Class 10 scores

2%

Work Experience

5%

UG marks

5%

Professional Qualification

2%

Gender Diversity

5%

Since your CAT percentile is already good, you need to work hard for your Personal Interview. In PI, you will be judged for the following:

  • Communication Skills
  • Academic Ability
  • Current Affairs & General Awareness
  • Managerial & Leadership Abilities
  • Co-curricular and Extra-curricular Activities

Next comes the UG score which is calculated as - UG performance score = (percent score at UG * discipline weightage) * 0.5

In your case the total score will be- 25.704

You lack in the following areas

  • 10th and 12th scores
  • Gender Diversity

10th and 12th marks carry very little weightage. Still, you can compensate for these low marks by paying extra attention to your PI preparing and acing the interview. Another area where you have an upper hand is work experience.

So I will say your chances of converting IIM Trichy are not exactly low. With the right motivation and an excellent interview, you can increase your chances of getting a call. Your CAT percentile has already got you halfway there so put in extra some efforts to make it into IIM Trichy.

What is the eligibility criteria for UG courses from NMIMS?

NK
Nimai Kaur Posted On : July 26th, 2021
Studied at Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode
  • As you might already know, NPAT is the entrance exam conducted by NMIMS for admission into UG Course. NPAT paves the way for admissions into multiple courses and that's why the eligibility criteria are different for each program. The criteria are structured with different levels which you must clear to get to the selection procedure.

    It includes the following factors:

      • Age: The upper age limit fixed by the board is 25 years.
      • Educational Qualification: You should have qualified 10+2 from a recognized board or hold a diploma degree in International Baccalaureate (IB certificate or/and DP awarded are not eligible). You should have 50% marks or more in 12th and even if you're going to take your 12th exams, you can still apply for the entrance.
      • Nationality: You must be a citizen of India.
      • After the prerequisites, you need to apply for and qualify for the NPAT and attach the results with the application to choose your desired program.
      • You should remain alert for the official notification. Although the exams are held in the third week of June, the process begins early on. However now, it might get delayed to July as well.

Presently, I will go to BTech final year. I want to do an MBA in IIM Bangalore. How can I achieve it? What is the eligibility criteria?

SS

Studied at IIM Bangalore (2019)

After completing your graduation you can start your preparation for MBA. Being a student of IIM Bangalore, I can provide some insights which might be helpful for you.

IIMB selection is done through CAT. The cut-off for top B-schools is above the 99.5 percentile, which varies over the years.

The selection process of every B-school is almost the same. After clearing the cut-off you will get an interview call but few B-schools follow different procedures too. After getting shortlisted, you will be called to give Written Assessment (WAT).

Written Assessment:

  • You have to express your thoughts on the given argument. Around 20 to 30 minutes will be given.
  • Topics can be asked from current affairs, business, economics, social issues, etc.
  • After WAT, candidates will be assessed with Group Discussion and then a Personal Interview.
  • The interview process is 30 to 45 minutes long.
  • The academic scores have a weightage of 5%.
  • An extra weightage will be given to candidates who have good scores in 10th, 12th, and bachelors degree.
  • The final decision will be taken only after looking at the performance of the candidates in all these stages.

You have to give your 100% to get selected in one of the top B-Schools in India. To make sure you get selected, start preparing for CAT well in advance, improve your writing skills and interviewing skills. Read as much as you can from books, newspapers, so that you can be comfortable in facing the selection process.

I have scored 56? in 10th and 82% in 12th. Can I have chances to get into IIM Indore?

HJ
Himanshi Jain Posted On : June 15th, 2023
Studied at Indian Institute of Management Indore (2019)

These score records are not good enough to predict whether you’d get admission into IIM Indore or not. But the possibilities are meager since IIM Indore is one of the few colleges that give too much weightage to your past academic scores. Here’s a table for your reference:

Component

Weightage

CAT

20%

X Marks

34%

XII Marks

40%

Diversity Factor

6%

Total

100%

It is very evident that for you to have a shortlist call you need to score exceptionally well in CAT and be in the top 1 % in the country. Once you get the PI call, it would be totally up to you and you will have a fair chance of converting your interview call. It gives 40 % weightage to your PI score so start working on your resume and give as many mocks as possible if you’re preparing for next year.

Which is better, civil engineering at IIT Bhubaneswar or chemical engineering at BITS Hyderabad??

Muskan Agrahari Posted On : June 24th, 2025

Both choices are good, but it will depend on your priorities — branch interest, campus life, or brand value. Here is a condensed comparison to guide your decision:

Quick Comparison: IIT Bhubaneswar (Civil) vs BITS Hyderabad (Chemical)

Category IIT Bhubaneswar (Civil) BITS Hyderabad (Chemical)
Institute Type Govt. (IIT), NIRF Rank 47 Private (BITS Pilani campus), well-ranked
Admissions JEE Advanced BITSAT
Avg. Package 12–13.6 LPA (Civil avg. slightly lower) 10–13 LPA (Chemical)
Placement Rate ~68% (Civil) ~80–90% (Chemical)
Highest Package 64 LPA (IITBBS overall) 30–40 LPA (BITS Hyd overall, rare)
Academics Traditional IIT model Flexible curriculum, dual degree options
Campus Life Growing student life, IIT tag Very vibrant, student-run fests & freedom
Brand Value IIT system legacy Strong BITS industry reputation

Both of these colleges provide good education and placements, but IIT Bhubaneswar provides you with the IIT label and main civil exposure, while BITS Hyderabad provides a free-flowing, student-oriented experience with good placement support in and outside chemical engineering. Decide according to what suits your long-term interests and learning pace.

Which has better placements, IIT (BHU) Electrical or IIT (BHU) Electronics??

VB
Vinima Bhola Posted On : June 23rd, 2025

Electrical Engineering at IIT (BHU) has a well-documented and strong placement record, with high placement rates (81–86%) and top packages reaching up to ?1.68 crore per annum (in B.Tech overall, with Electrical also benefitting from high offers).

The Max CTC for Electronics Engineering is ?50 LPA for 2024–2025, which is less than the highest mentioned for Electrical. However, placement details for Electronics Engineering are less commonly recorded. This might, however, represent a single offer or a particular position rather than the branch's highest or average overall.

Both branches are highly sought after and have strong industry connections, but Electrical Engineering currently has more publicly available and impressive placement statistics.
