The GS paper in ESE is very important and can be crucial for determining your rank. Here is the list of topics from the syllabus and preparation strategy.
Engineering Mathematics and Numerical Analysis - Made Easy Mathematics book. This contains a lot of solved problems for practice.
Engineering Aptitude - Made Easy Aptitude book to learn some new tricks and shortcuts for faster solving. This is a fairly easy and high scoring topic.
Material Science -
General Principles of Design, Drawing, and Importance of Safety - You can follow any standard textbook from Made Easy/ACE or IES Master or class notes. Visualizing things plays a very important role to achieve success in this topic. You only need theory to learn definitions, technical terms, and formulas.
Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and Basics of Energy & Environment- Saurabh Sir and AP Singh Sir’s (Made Easy Faculty) note is enough to prepare for these two topics.
Basics of Project Management, Standards, and Quality practices in production, construction, maintenance, and services- Any standard textbook from Made Easy/ACE or IES Master or class notes will serve the purpose. Students from the Electronics branch score well on these topics.
Current Affairs - You do not need to focus a lot on current affairs. Be aware of the things happening around you. Instead of reading the entire newspaper install news apps like Inshorts or Jagran Josh
Ethics and values in the Engineering profession – You can follow the Lexicon Ethics Book but this subject is logical and there is no need for any book as such. Just be logical and think for yourself what’s ethical and what’s not.
Lastly, constant revision throughout the year is essential. You should go through the entire syllabus at least once a month. For GS preparation group study can be also helpful.
One of my friends studied at Sharda University and according to him, it was the biggest regret of his life. He pointed out some good and bad things about the college, which I will be sharing with you.
There is no ragging and the infrastructure is pretty good. It is the only thing good about the college.
The university has many flaws like -
If you scored badly in JEE or any other competitive exam but are willing to improve yourself and do not see any other options available, then you can join Sharda University.
The Institute of Technology, Nirma University, commonly known as Nirma University, admits students to its undergraduate engineering programs based on the JEE Main score. The cutoff for admission to these programs at Nirma University varies each year and depends on several factors, including the difficulty level of the exam, the number of applicants, and the availability of seats in each program.
Based on the previous year's cutoff trends, to get admission to Nirma University, a candidate should score a JEE Main rank within the top 5,000-7,000. However, the cutoff score may vary based on the candidate's category, program of interest, and the total number of seats available in that program.
It's important to note that meeting the cutoff score is only one of the eligibility criteria for admission to Nirma University. The institute considers other factors such as the candidate's academic performance, the number of applicants for a program, and the reservation policies, among others, for final admission decisions.
Unlike the other parts of Kerala, IIM Kozhikode was left mostly unscathed owing to its remarkable architecture and altitude. Some of the people I know who have graduated from there have said that the floods have left them deep emotional scars.
The Social Service Group of the institute successfully distributed funds, packed food, clothes, blankets, bed sheet, sanitary napkins, and other required amenities, with the help of faculty, students, and alumni.
The helpful acts included the following.
The student community of strength over 800 worked hard to make the lives easier of the people affected by the flood. The institution did its best to reach out to the people not so fortunate.

IGNOU is one of the most popular open universities in India and Asia. Its primary focus is to offer regular education to those who cannot afford to attend classes regularly.
IGNOU offers a plethora of degrees in regular mode, including programs like MPhil, MSc, and a variety of Doctorate Programs. Here are a few programs offered in regular mode:
|
Ph.D. in Dairy Science and Technology |
Doctor of Philosophy in Political Science |
Master of Philosophy in Theatre Arts |
|
Doctor of Philosophy Computer Science |
MPHIL in Chemistry |
Master of Philosophy in Social Work |
|
Integrated MSc-PhD in Physics and Astrophysics |
MPHIL in Geography |
MSc in Life Science |
But, to get degrees like Ph.D., Mphil, etc. students have to attend classes on a regular basis.
It is a full-time degree or diploma and so it will have more value than online. But if we compare IIT Madras’ online degree or diploma with any other college’s then it is better.
The duration of the course is 3 years. The mode of training is online, the lectures are mostly recorded and partly live sessions.
Whether the course will be good or not that depends on what subject you are planning to pursue. If you opt for a subject related to technology, then it is not a good option. This is because technology cannot be learned through books or audiovisual. It requires you to be present in the field to gain experience and knowledge.
Although IIIT Delhi has a better curriculum, academic environment, and even placement scenario, the opportunities offered at NSUT Delhi are no less. The average package of IIIT Delhi 2023 placements stood at INR 23.72 LPA while the median package of NSUT Delhi is INR 16 LPA.
However, these figures do not mean much for a fresher because IT giants like Google have the same recruitment procedure for every college. Students from all colleges be it a top NIT, IIIT-D, NSUT, or a local college were given equal chances to appear for its interview.
Surprisingly, even NSUT Delhi gets enough offers from Google so placements have nothing to do with the curriculum you have studied. NSUT students are all-round coders whereas IIIT Delhi students are proficient only in competitive coding. Even the number of students getting into IIMs is more for NSUT than IIIT Delhi.
So, NSUT is much better than IIIT Delhi because of the crowd quality and education.
NSIT organizes an amazing cultural fest and also has many societies, clubs, and sports facilities. Overall, I will suggest freshers who are certain of pursuing a career in research in computers or communication, signal processing, etc to join IIIT Delhi but if you are uncertain about your inclination, choose NSIT Delhi. It will guide you!

Yes, MDI Gurgaon is definitely better than baby IIMs in almost every aspect. Some major points of comparison between them are
Fees: The fees of the PGDM program at MDI Gurgaon are ?23.47 Lakhs (Total Fees) whereas the MBA fees of new IIMs are around 16-23 Lakhs. So MDI has higher fees.
Ranking: MDI Gurgaon ranks 13th by NIRF whereas the new IIMs come only after that.
Establishment: Almost all the new IIMs were established after 2007, whereas MDI has a great legacy because of being established as early as 1973.
Placements: The placement scenario is much better at MDI than at newer IIMs. I have drawn a comparison between MDI placement statistics and IIM Trichy, one of the best among the new IIMs.
|
Particulars |
MDI |
IIM Trichy |
|
Highest salary |
INR 1.14 CPA |
INR 34 LPA |
|
Average salary |
INR 26.65 LPA |
INR 17.01 LPA |

Amazon, Dell, Nomura |
The table clearly proves MDI is a winner in the placement race when it comes to new IIMs. In fact in all aspects MDI wins the battle so should be the preference over new IIMs.
