What are the chances of getting an IIM with academics 88/70/65, and how much percentile should I get to get a chance for older IIMs?
It is understandable that your 12th and graduation scores are not up to the mark for the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) A, B, and I. Even IIM L may also be difficult for you to secure a call from because of your low scores. However, it is important for you to know that there are other options available to you. Even though it may be challenging, it is still possible to secure a call from IIM C and IIM K with a very high CAT score of 99.9 or above. Unfortunately, it seems that IIM Shillong may also not be an option for you due to your low score in 12th.
Given this situation, it is advisable for you to give your best effort in preparing for the Common Admission Test (CAT) and also consider appearing for other entrance exams like the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) and the Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT). With a decent CAT score of 99.8 or above, you may have a chance at prestigious institutes like the Faculty of Management Studies (FMS), the Management Development Institute (MDI), and some Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).
Additionally, keep in mind that the weightage of the entrance exam and interview is very high for IIFT, so it is important for you to prepare well for that as well.
It is worth mentioning that, although your current scores may seem like a setback, it does not mean that your aspirations should be limited. Keep in mind that there are many other options available, and with hard work and determination, you can still achieve your goals. Remember to keep your head held high and keep pushing forward.
How is girls hostel in IIT Hyderabad?
IIT Hyderabad has separate accommodation facilities for girls and boys through the facilities and infrastructure of both hostels’ are somewhat similar. Boys are not allowed to enter the girls' hostel.
IIT Hyderabad Hostel
Kandi campus of IIT Hyderabad has beautifully designed hostel buildings designed with unique infrastructure. IIT Hyderabad (new campus) provides single-seater rooms for all students. Girls are usually allocated to the new campus. Each hostel block has seven floors, with no rooms on the ground floor, and rooms on 6 floors only. Each floor has 32 rooms. So approximately, 192 students live in one block.
Some key highlights of the hostel are
- Dwelling Design: IIT Hyderabad’s hostel architecture is designed by the Japanese who have used Dwelling Design. This helps the equal amount of breeze flow in all the rooms irrespective of the location of the room and direction of airflow.
- Radiant Cooling: The walls and ceiling of the hostel rooms have hidden pipes that have cold water running through them. The temperature of this water is controlled depending on the season and outside temperature. This keeps the room warm in winter and cool in summer.
- Washrooms: Each floor is divided into 4 comprising 8 rooms each. Every pod has two bathrooms, two urinal pots, and two toilets.
- Toilets: Out of the 2 washrooms, one is Indian and one is Western. There are motion sensor lights in the hostel washrooms. There are both hot and cold water options available 24/7.
- Rooms: Rooms are spacious enough for one person. A typical room has a single bed, a table, and a chair. There is also a built-in almirah.
All in all, IIT Hyderabad has excellent accommodation facilities for both girls and boys.
How would you arrange these in terms of education quality- CBIT, VASAVI, MVSR, VNR, SNIST, MGIT, GRRR?
All these colleges are good at their own places and in terms of ranking. It becomes difficult to arrange these colleges in terms of education quality as everyone possesses a good hold on education.
The quality is the same and it all depends upon the students. There are few who don’t get a job even after 3 years of grad and while some are hard workers.
Let’s take a look below at the arrangement of these colleges: CBIT>VASAVI> MVSR >VNR >SNIST>MGIT>GRRR
These particular colleges contain what matters the most. They have the best professors as they need to maintain their repo. One of my friends is an alumnus from VNR and told me that these colleges have everything that you would want into Engineering.
VASAVI too has its own ways, which do well. CBIT and SNIST are also good. CBIT and VNR are a little freedom-giving. None of the four compromises on the students’ education track record.

How is the new NMIMS campus in Navi Mumbai??
NMIMS Navi Mumbai campus is the newest addition to the NMIMS family. It is slowly gaining popularity. The campus offers an encouraging learning environment. Being situated in the finance capital of our country, it also offers decent placements to students.
NMIMS Navi Mumbai Placement:

How is the hostel in IIT Gandhinagar?
IIT Gandhinagar has some of the best hostels among all the IITs. My cousin studying here once visited IIT Roorkee for the Inter-IIT cultural meet and concluded that their own hostels were the best. - IIT Gandhinagar hostel rooms are well-designed with large single and double rooms comprising basic amenities like a desk, a chair, a bed, a fan, and a cupboard.
- Students have access to warm water at any time of the day.
- There are a wide variety of eateries like Amul Store, Tea Post, Sainath Canteen, Dawat Canteen, Grocers, General Store, Mahavir Healthy Foods, Anytime Snacks, and a salon operating in the hostel buildings.

What is the average package at IIT, Kharagpur for applied geology?
The average packages of “Applied Geology” or any other branch apart from CS, ECE, EE, and MnC are highly misleading as they include both core and non-core jobs with non-core jobs forming the majority.
In reality, IIT campus placements offer very few core jobs in certain departments and Applied Geology Is one of them. So most of the students tend to go for Non-Core jobs related to their field of interest like Coding, Finance, Data Analysis, etc. The number of companies offering core jobs in departments such as Mechanical or Chemical is very low. So out of the entire batch, only toppers are offered core jobs while the rest go for non-core jobs. The placement percentage is a combination of both these jobs and thus cannot tell you specifically about the placements of that particular department.
On an average batch size of 25-30 students, only 4-5 get core jobs in Applied Geology while the rest get non-core jobs. So your skills and abilities matter a lot during such branch placements. The median salary of Applied Geology is around INR 15 LPA and some top recruiters include Capgemini, Cipla, Cognizant, Genpact, IBM, ICICI, Just dial, Oil India Limited, YesBank, and more.
