How is Computer Science Engineering at MANIT, Bhopal and what are the prospects if you are really a hard worker?
MANIT, Bhopal offers a good Computer Science Engineering course. In recent years, some new courses have been added as electives for the course. These courses include Machine Learning, Image Processing, Big Data, etc. Students can study these courses from their 3rd year. However, there are no good faculties to teach these courses in depth.
The course work includes only one programming language, i.e. C programming. It is very basic and taught by contract professors. Students are required to do two projects. Most students do Machine Learning projects.
The computer labs aren’t in good condition. You will need to do most of the work on your personal computer.
Compared to most NITs, MANIT Bhopal offers good placement opportunities for CSE. Recruiters like Amazon, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, etc. visit the campus placements. For CSE, the average CTC stays around INR 12.5 LPA.
What is the average package offered at NIT?

One of my friends studied at VTU Belgaum. According to him, they follow a CBCS, which is a Choice Based Credit System wherein students have the choice of selecting their subjects/courses based on their interests- core, elective, and foundations.

- The process of converting percentage to CGPA is very easy. You just have to divide your percentage by 9.5 that will give you the CGPA.
- For example - If you have 73% then 73/9.5 = 7.6 CGPA
- And if you have CGPA and wish to convert it to percentage then just multiply your CGPA by 9.5.
The last semester is different from all the others because it has project work and internship as well that get graded. Therefore, this is how you will be able to convert a percentage to the CGPA.
What are the facilities available in the hostels of BHU?
BHU is the largest residential university in Asia. Also a national university, BHUs hostel facilities are top notch. The hostels are allotted on the basis of your rank. So if you want a hostel with good facilities, study hard and score good marks.

IIT Tirupati placements have been pretty good for the last few years. During the 2021 placement drive, students received an average CTC of INR 11 LPA. While the highest CTC offered was INR 40 LPA. The 2022 graduating batch received summer internships from more than 35 companies.
Students get recruited in diverse roles in IT, R&D, core engineering, analytics, etc.
What should I be prepared for before joining IIT Delhi?
Nothing can prepare you enough for the intense life you will be experiencing at IIT Delhi. Yet, here are a few pointers that might help
- You will see a drastic decline in your rank. Students who were once school toppers will reach the bottom of the class. This is usually because students are chilled after JEE or face massive competition.
- The first-year Physics lecture and lab activities are the most challenging things you will face.
- Never copy your assignments as your professors are way smarter than you think
- Listen to the advice of seniors but pay heed to only the ones that your brain justifies.
- Make sure to use your freedom well and don’t let it become a reason for your downfall
- You might face partiality to a little extent but you must bear with it.
Which is better: MTech in IIT Madras or CSE in NIT Trichy?
The choice of the branch, as well as the Institute, depends on a lot of factors like your personal preferences and the other options you have. It’s difficult to say which is better between the Mechanical Engineering program at IIT Madras and CSE at NIT Trichy, as both are highly reputable institutions with strong engineering programs. Both offer excellent curricula, experienced faculty, and ample opportunities for research and extracurricular activities.
Joining NIT Trichy for CSE is a good choice if
- You are more interested in computer science and software development
- If you are only after the CS roles and placements. The placements of this branch are pretty good at NIT Trichy with the average package at INR 17-24 LPA and placement rate at 98-100%.
- If you want to pursue higher studies in MS
Joining IIT Madras for Mechanical Engineering is a good choice if
- You are looking for an amazing campus life and the IIT tag
- You are open to non-core jobs because core Mechanical jobs are average.
- If you want to start a career in CS by learning to code or taking minor courses in CS
Some other options to consider are
- CSE at IIIT Hyderabad or new IITs
- ECE at IIT Guwahati
- EE at IIT Hyderabad
All these have average packages above 20 LPA and are excellent options. The preference order for branches on the basis of job prospects and the current demands in the market is as follows
CSE > M&C > ECE > EE
All these branches are open to software profiles whereas other branches usually offer non-core profiles even Mechanical. Ultimately, it's important to research both programs and consider your own interests and goals before making a decision.

What is the procedure to defer admission to IIM Ahmedabad?
Every student that gets selected to IIM Ahmedabad gets an option to defer their admission provided that the person must have full time work experience of less than 2 years.
This corporate experience gives a better understanding of the PGP program.
Some important points related to deferring admission are:

Defer can be for a maximum of 2 years and a minimum of 1 year

1 year deferment is not allowed for freshers. They need to defer for at least 2 years and gain experience.

A separate form needs to be filled for applying for deferment.

Fees include Security Deposit + deferment fee = 2 lacs. If you don’t join after the end of the deferment period, this amount will be forfeited.

Your progress will be monitored throughout.
To get your admission deferred, all you need to do is apply and send the form to IIM Ahmedabad. Such requests rarely go unaccepted.
