Do you think the NIT Calicut hostel is good?

RB
Rishav Bhuniya Posted On : March 26th, 2021
B.Tech from National Institute of Technology, Calicut (2020)

One of my friends once shared his experiences considering the Hostel of NIT Calicut, whether it is good or bad or anything, but the student must be prepared to incident all kind of things at the time of staying in the hostel.

  • There are 4 people in one room, specifically in the first year, second year, and third year. However, it is fine and can be accepted.
  • The hostel rooms of NIT Calicut are prepared for 3 accommodations only, that in a room, 3 students can stay; there are 3 beds with proper spacing in the room, 3 cupboards, and charging points.
  • My friend told me that the college administration might try to bring all the students very close to each other to increase unity. The reason behind this thinking is that 4 students are staying in one single room, although the accommodation is for 3 students in each room.

You might be given a basic crash course regarding the student's body language. This will help you to understand the language spoken by hostel guards and managers as they were from Kerala and speak in Malayalam. Thus, the students from North India and Andhrapradesh (Telegu) must be ready to face this issue in the hostel.

There is always an electricity problem is a hostel, and a student has to use their own mobile data to perform their academics and assignment. Because no electricity means no internet, no fan, no light, and this is very common in the hostel of NIT Calicut. Students may face 2 nights without electricity.

Should I choose Vellore Institute of Technology or Mahindra Ecole Centrale or Manipal Institute of Technology?

AS
Aishwarya Shastri Posted On : September 8th, 2023

While comparing institutes, you should consider these parameters-infrastructure, faculty, fee structure, and placement record:

  • Infrastructure- VIT Vellore campus is clean and hygienic. Its hostels and mess are also good.

Mahindra Ecole Centrale (MEC) has a world-class infrastructure with a good campus environment and good sports facilities.

  • Faculty- The faculty at VIT consists of qualified Ph.D. teachers. MEC has Indian and international Ph.D. holders as its faculty. They teach well and give high value to research. The curriculum is co-designed with Ecole Centrale

Paris, and is of good quality.

  • Fee- B.Tech CSE at VIT Vellore will cost you INR 1.95 lakhs each year. From MIT, this course will cost you INR 18.62 lakhs in total, while from MEC, it will cost you 4.50 lakhs per year. So VIT Vellore is more adorable than the other two.
  • Placements- B.Tech placements of VIT Vellore are good. The average package of VIT Vellore stood at INR 9.23 LPA in 2023. MNCs like Amazon, Microsoft, D.E. Shaw, Paypal, etc. visit the campus for placements.

At MEC, the average package stands near 7 LPA. At Manipal, the average package for 2023 was INR 14.10 LPA, and the median package was INR 8.5 LPA.

I would suggest you reach out to the alumni from each college. This will give you a clearer picture of how things are at the ground level. According to me, Manipal Institute of Technology, VIT, and MEC, all have their own strengths and weaknesses.

What is the salary range for an MTech graduate in mechanical engineering from IIT Bombay?

SB
Sumit Bose Posted On : March 18th, 2023
IIT Bombay (2019)

The salary of an MTech graduate in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Bombay varies from branch to branch.

  • Mechanical Designers get more salary ranging from 5 to 12 lakh than others some even get around 20 LPA.
  • Thermal Engineering students get slightly lower packages than design students
  • Manufacturing Engineering students get salaries of around 4 Lakhs to 8 Lakhs

MTech students are usually hired by core companies that gain less profit than Software Companies and hence end up with lower packages than BTech students. Moreover, companies are aware that BTech students are all-rounders and thus prefer them to MTech students. However, the promotion of MTech students is faster than that of BTech students.

Masters from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi

The course structure is very similar to that of the full-time course with very few exceptions like

  • Less courses per semester but longer duration
  • No hostel facilities provided
  • Not allowed to sit for general placements

Apart from these, both part-timers and full-timers can access the same lab facilities, attend the same classes and sit for the same exams and are also evaluated together.

SK
Sagarika Kaul, Posted On : October 21st, 2021
B.Tech Electrical Engineering, Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology DCRUST (2012)

One of my friends studied at DCRUST. According to him, if you are willing to study at DCRUST Murthal, opt for either CSE or ECE. As the core engineering departments like mechanical or electrical do not have good placements. It is better to go for CSE or ECE as many corporate firms participate in their placement program.

Categories CS/IT at DCRUST
Course Fee 2.36 lakhs
Placement Percentage 70-80%
Highest CTC 30 LPA
Average CTC 7-9 LPA
Lowest CTC 3-5 LPA

Most of the DCRUST alumni received placement offers from TCS, Tech Mahindra, and HCL. About 80 students were placed in TCS. Other notable companies that recruit students from DCRUST include Fidelity, Jindal Iron and Steel, MediaTek, Finserv, Sapient, BEL, and many more.

What is your review of Osmania Medical College?

DS
Divya Saraf Posted On : October 5th, 2023
Lives in Hyderabad

Here are a few pros and cons of the Osmania Medical College that will give you a detailed review of the college

Pros

  • The college has produced highly successful doctors who are currently working in top positions in reputed hospitals like the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio and AIIMS New Delhi.
  • Osmania has around 10 attached hospitals. So, the patient flow is huge and diverse. There is a hospital for every subject you study in the Final year.
  • OSMECON and College Fest are the 2 major events of this college that help students explore their interests apart from medicine.
  • Osmania has some very amazing professors. One such Physiology professor established the Electrophysiology lab, the first such lab in the entire state.
  • Internships in Osmania General Hospital are a very rare experience because if you can take care of patients in the most resource-scarce hospitals such as Osmania, you can help patients anywhere on the globe.

Cons

  • Osmania lacks funding to a great extent so is behind research work in comparison to other medical colleges.
  • The old building of Osmania General Hospital is in ruins.
  • No national and international conferences, seminars, or meetings are held to improve its global image.
  • The hostel facilities are pathetic and the mess food is not edible.
  • The campus area has been reduced due to Metro rail expansion.

Hope this helps you!

What is your review of Sikkim Manipal University?

KS
Krishna Srivastav Posted On : September 29th, 2021
B.Tech in CSE from Sikkim Manipal University (2019)

I have a few friends from Sikkim Manipal University and according to them, it is not a great place for innovative ideas and opportunities. It is a good option if you just want a degree. Here are some of the perks of joining the institute.

  • There are over 15 clubs at SMIT. The club culture is quite good at the institute. If you want you can start your own club too.
  • It has a great geographic landscape. There are awesome places that you can visit.
  • It helps in the all-round development of students.

Overall SMIT is not a bad option for distance learning.
