What are my chances of getting into any of the old IIMs or XLRI with this profile: class 10 - 69.7%, class 12 - 83.8%, B.Com - 49.6%? I am a CA.
Your mentioned scores are very low and being a CA will only give you an advantage. IIMs give special preference to those who are CA or pursuing it. The main question is if you are eligible to write the CAT exam.
The criteria for writing CAT is to be a Graduate from a recognized University or a final year candidate in any discipline having a minimum of 50% marks. There are relaxations for those with a quota like SC/ST and they can have a minimum of 45% marks in graduation to write the CAT exam.
Not much weightage is given to academics at XLRI but they still need a minimum of 50% marks in UG. So, try to score well in XAT- anywhere from 95 to 96 percentile. This is because the higher you score the better chances you have. XLRI has no reservation policy and admission there is purely based on merit.

It is comparatively difficult to secure a seat at the Great Lakes Institute of Management. They usually give preference to candidates among the top 500 ranks in the CMAT. So, it is better to strive hard and come up with a good score or try another entrance examination like GMAT, CAT or SAT
Can a student with an 8/7/8 academic record be selected at IIM Ahmedabad? Is getting into IIM Ahmadabad that difficult?
Depends on which category you belong to, with the above-mentioned grades if you are from the general/open category then you will need a really good CAT score and percentile to get a call from IIM-A, which is anything above 99 percentiles, even with that it is not certain though (because it depends on some other factors as well). And all this only to get a call from there, the story does not end there, you have to do really well in the GD and PI sections. So, yes, getting into IIM-A is difficult but that does not mean it is impossible.
The best advice for you right now is to focus on scoring well in CAT and please do not fixate yourself on only IIM-A because IIM-B and FMS (except the tag) are at par with IIM-A.
Which is better BS Economics at IISER Bhopal, BTech Chemical Engineering at IIPE Vizag or BTECH Mechanical at IIITDM Jabalpur. I would prefer an interdisciplinary course.

I am having 95% in DME. What are all the chances for me to enter to psg in mechanical and Robotics and automation. i am bc category.
The requirements to get into PSG in Mechanical and Robotics and Automation are as follows
- Passed 10+2 examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one from Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, Technical Vocational subject, Computer Science, Information Technology, Informatics Practices, Agriculture, Engineering Graphics, and Business Studies.
- Obtained at leaAst 45% marks (40% marks in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) in the above subjects taken together.
- Passed Diploma (in Engineering and Technology) examination with at least 45% marks (40% marks in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) subject to vacancies in the First Year, in case the vacancies at lateral entry are exhausted.
Coming back to your question, with 95% in DME, you can easily enter PSG in Mechanical and Robotics and Automation.
What academic profile do I need for the NITIE?
There is no such restriction or any specific academic profile needed for getting admission at NITIE Mumbai. However while doing the management diploma or degree, you must maintain a good academic track record as most of the big firms look for candidates with good academic backgrounds.
In NITIE, you will be surrounded by an amazing diversity of people. People with work experience of 4-5 years from different domains get together with new fresher’s students. There is no barrier of any specific domain in engineering. There are students from varied engineering domains such as Civil, Mechanical, Agriculture. Chemical and many more.
For getting admissions to NITIE, you have to be an Engineer.

I have scored 88% in 10th, 87% in 12th and 74.1 in graduation. Can I get into IIM Ahmedabad or any other top B-Schools with this score?
If you want to ask whether your profile is good enough to get admission into IIM Ahmedabad, the answer is always yes. You’re eligible to sit for the CAT and are equally probable to get admission. Now I want to show you two kinds of profiles that you would have most likely encountered yourself; first is that of an A-grade student who has many awards and achievements under their belt and has scored exceptionally well in CAT. The second category has students with average past academic records and no substantial work experience. Although the commonplace category is that of an A-grade student it certainly gives you hope when you come across students who don’t have the conventional candidature and still made it into one of the best B-Schools in the country. In order to get into the institute you gotta understand its admission criteria. IIM Ahmedabad is usually very generous in terms of the cutoff threshold. This year the overall cutoff is 80 percentile for the open category but you need to have an exceptional profile in order to get a PI call on 80-99 percentile. If you dream of getting into IIM A, you cannot compromise on your CAT score as it accounts for 65% of the total weightage.
Does IIM Trichy have students with an 89 percentile?
Students can get into IIM Trichy with a percentile as low as 89 only under the following conditions
- He/she either belongs to the NC-OBC or EWS category (still they need to have a good academic background, work experience, or diversity factor)
- If the candidates' profile is spectacular is other aspects
- For any other category since their cutoff is even lower than 89, such a percentile will surely guarantee them a seat.
The criteria is almost the same for the other IIMs with a slight difference based on their rankings and reputation.
Is a Maharashtra state candidate eligible for admission to Vasavi College of Engineering, Hyderabad? If yes, what is the procedure?
There are 3 ways through which you can enter Vasavi College of Engineering (VCE). These are EAMCET, JEE Mains, or NRI / NRI Sponsored.
- If you opt to apply through EAMCET, you will need an excellent EAMCET score in order to be admitted to VCE.
- If you are non-local, you are only eligible to fill 15% of the total seats under the convenor category. 85% seats are reserved for locals.
- CSE, IT, and ECE disciplines may require a triple-digit rank.
- As one of my friends scored 55, 153 AIR in Mains 18 and applied under B-CAT, he was offered Mechanical and he accepted it.
- The best thing about B-CAT admissions is that there are no reservations and the cost structure is the same as for EAMCET applicants, which is now 1.6 LPA.
- In the month of June, the college issues notification for B-CAT applicants, which you'll check on the official website.
- You must pay the application cost, and register as an applicant, providing all of your information (JEE Rank, XII Marks, etc.).
- The fourth option is to apply through the NRI category, which follows the same method as the Mains application.
- However, you would be admitted based on a merit list of XII marks obtained. It is extremely difficult to get a seat in the CSE branch.
- Last year's NRI cutoff for CSE was around 97% and there are similar trends for ECE and IT as well.
- Mechanical and Civil have comparatively low cutoffs around 75 percent.
So, a Maharashtrian candidate is eligible to enroll at Vasavi College of Engineering if you go through any of the ways mentioned above.
Can I get a call from IIM Lucknow as well as FMS Delhi after getting a 99+ percentile in CAT? My academics marks are 74%, 73% and 65% in X, XII and graduate degree in engineering respectively.
Honestly speaking, your chances of getting into IIM Lucknow Calcutta and Kozhikode are scarce unless you score 100 percentile considering your profile. IIM Ahmedabad, Indore and Shillong won’t give you a call even after 100 as their eligibility criteria focuses majorly on past academics which are below average in your case.
IIM Bangalore is unpredictable in its eligibility criteria. It might take students with poor academic backgrounds but good work experience. So if you have none you can forget this chance also.
FMS does not almost consider past academics at all but for that, you need a CAT percentile of more than 99.5. For the safer side a 99.75 might grant you a conversion.
Don’t get demotivated just because of your past academic performance and ruin your future. Rather make the most out of your present life and opportunities.
