What are the criteria to get admission into IIM Ahmedabad??
IIM Ahmedabad's admission process is carried out into three stages:
- CAT Score Shortlisting: In the initial stage, candidates are shortlisted based on their CAT (Common Admission Test) scores. To increase your chances, a CAT score of around 99+ is recommended.
- WAT-PI Shortlisting: In the second stage, students who have applied for the Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI) process are shortlisted. This selection is based on a combination of factors, including past academic performance and CAT scores.
- Final Selection Parameters: After the WAT-PI round, a composite score is calculated to determine the final selection. For the final selection, 10% weightage will be given to the AWT, 40% weightage to PI, and 50% weightage to the composite score. Where, Composite Score = Application Rating Score + Normalized CAT score.
And, Application Rating score is based on class 10th, 12th and bachelor exams, and work experience scores. Rather than that several parameters are considered, including:
- CAT Score
- Graduation Score
- 10th Grade Score
- 12th Grade Score
- Performance in WAT/GD-PI
- Academic Diversity
- Gender Diversity
- Work Experience (if applicable)
It's important to note that a consistently good academic record, along with a high CAT score, plays a significant role in securing a spot at IIM Ahmedabad. Additionally, the institution values diversity and considers gender diversity and academic diversity as part of the selection process.
What is the salary for mechanical engineering graduates from IIT Delhi?
IIT Delhi Mechanical Engineering average package is around INR 15-20 LPA. For core mechanical engineering job profiles the CTC offered is less. Usually, most students go for Consulting, Data Analytics, and Coding job profiles. These jobs usually have higher salary packages. Also, for non-core jobs, mast MNCs are open for all branches.
What is the passing criteria in Thapar (complete)?
There are a number of criteria that Thapar University students need to fulfill in order to pass. A few of them have been listed below
- Students have to maintain a minimum of 75% attendance including tutorials, lectures, and labs. Students who don’t fulfill this criterion face detention and have to repeat the course next semester.
- Students have to score 33 marks after combining tutorials, practicals, quizzes, and semester exams. However, they will still pass the subject if they score less than 33% at the End of semester or any other exam.
- Students scoring between 33 and 27 in one subject, and more than 33 in others, get a D grade without repeating the course.
- Students scoring between 33 and 30 in two subjects, and more than 33 in others, get D grades in both subjects
- Students who fail to fulfill the above 2 criteria get an E grade in a subject and can appear for an exam, the marks of which are substituted as END SEM marks. If your marks become more than 33, then you get a D grade in the subject,
- If a student fails to secure more than 33 even after this exam, then they have to repeat the subject in the next semester and they will be getting a D grade on passing the subject.

XLRI or IIM Lucknow?
Comparing XLRI and IIM Lucknow in terms of placements can be difficult unless you have personally gone through the process at either institution. Both institutions have a variety of firms that come to recruit from them. However, it depends on your career aspirations and interests. If your focus is on HR, XLRI is the better option. However, if your interests lie in other areas such as marketing and finance, IIM Lucknow may be a better fit as it has more firms that regularly visit across these domains, particularly in consulting.
In terms of infrastructure, IIM Lucknow has better on-campus facilities for both recreation and academics. However, it is worth noting that the infrastructure at both institutions should not present significant problems.
Finally, when considering the alumni network, the IIM tag opens more doors. XLRI is a well-respected brand, but the sheer number of IIM Lucknow alumni in the job market makes it stand out.
In conclusion, the decision between XLRI and IIM Lucknow largely depends on whether or not you want to study HR. If you do, XLRI is the better option, otherwise, IIM Lucknow is a better choice in terms of placements, infrastructure, and alumni network.
How are the hostels in Manit Bhopal?
I will describe my experience of hostel 10, through which you’ll get an idea of the hostels at MANIT Bhopal-
B.Tech freshers are allotted Hostel 10 at MANIT. The hostel is divided into four blocks- A,B,C and D. Each block has 32 dorm rooms, two washroom complexes, two water coolers, an internal courtyard, a mess hall, two common rooms, a guest house, and a T.T. room.
The freshers stay in blocks C and D, and blocks A and B are given to senior B.Tech students. Block C and D are isolated and fenced from the other two blocks. All the rooms are well maintained and in good condition. Due to a shortage of rooms, three students share a single room, instead of two.
The hostel wifi gives decent connectivity. If lucky, you’ll have access to good wifi speed in your hostel room, otherwise, you’ll have to manage with your own internet connection. There is no LAN connectivity in the hostel at present. You can use electrical appliances as no checking takes place. If you get a back facing room in C block, you’ll have access to a serene balcony view. The common rooms are used for DJ nights, Ganesh Chaturthi, etc. We also play holi on the premises. The night view from the rooftop is mesmerizing.
Overall, the hostels at MANIT Bhopal are spacious and well maintained.
What is it like to study in IIM Lucknow?
IIM Lucknow is one of the most renowned business schools in the country. Studying at IIM Lucknow is a one-of-a-kind experience. You will find the library filled with books on different topics, and make many friends and endless memories on campus.
You will have the opportunity to learn from some of the best professors in the country. You can access numerous databases which only the biggest Indian companies can otherwise provide.
The highest package for placement (2021-2023) was 1 CPA and the average package was INR 32.23 LPA.
But the academic pressure might take a toll on you. There will be endless assignments, quizzes, and case competitions. The extensive preparation for the placement drive will cause a lot of stress.
Coming back to the positive side, IIM Lucknow makes sure that its students come from diverse academic backgrounds. The gender diversity on campus is good. You will thus get the chance to interact with India’s brightest minds from diverse academic backgrounds.
IIM Lucknow also has a beautiful campus (one of the best in India as a Business School). The sports block and various committees will help relieve all the stress from studies and the placement drive.
How are hostel facilities at NIT Warangal (boys)?
NIT Warangal has a separate hostel for students of every year that are well-maintained and well-furnished with modern facilities.
1.8k Ultramega Hostel
This is the largest hostel in India.
- Both BTech, as well as MTech students of NIT Rourkela, are allotted this hostel in the first year. It houses around 1800 students.
- Usually, MTech students are allotted single occupancy rooms while BTech students are allotted double occupancy rooms.
- The hostel has amazing facilities like a gym, table tennis room, coffee shop, and snacks corner. Additionally, it has 8 lifts and two badminton courts on the lawn.
Old Blocks
These are the oldest hostels of NIT Rourkela.
- These hostels have been renovated recently to improve the living conditions here.
- This hostel is home to second year students of NIT Rourkela.
- Usually the rooms allotted are triple occupancy rooms.
- This hostel is in close proximity to the college stadium and basketball, volleyball, tennis courts.
- Every block has 3 floors.
Mega Hostel(1k)
This hostel is also very huge.
- The hostel has the capacity to house 1000 students.
- The rooms allotted are usually simple occupancy rooms.
- The hostel is allotted to 3rd and final-year B.Tech students.
- It has 7 floors and lifts with a football ground beside it.
International Students Hostel(DASA Hostel)
- This hostel is especially for foreign students studying at NIT Rourkela.
- The first-year foreign students stay at 1.8k while the test stays here.
- The hostel has 3 floors with single occupancy rooms
Every hostel has a mess or a good neighborhood.
How is IIT Indore CS in terms of campus, placement, and college life?
My cousin is a student at IIT Indore and is in the CS branch top. Let me share the little information I have regarding the institute.
- Campus: Spread across 550 acres, the campus is beautiful and lush green. The campus has a modern design and facilities with excellent accommodation facilities too.
- Placements: IIT Indore has an excellent placement scenario and its statistics are comparable to the old IITs. The packages offered and visiting companies are more and better than top NITs. CS is the only branch that secured 100% placement with the highest CTC at INR 48.5 LPA and the average at INR 30.32 LPA.
- Cutoff: IIT Indore has been witnessing an increasing cutoff proving the improvement in the quality of students it attracts. This year the opening rank for CSE is 1144.
- College life: IIT Indore has a vibrant and fulfilling college life with various clubs and extracurriculars for the holistic development of its students.
The campus is forever lively with something or the other happening like fests, joint fests with IIM, coding events, musical nights, DJ nights, festivals, food fiestas, etc
IIT Indore has managed to establish itself well in the IIT race and its excellent work culture in collaborations with big international institutions like CERN signifies its worth and credibility.
How are the placements at Christ University for MBA?
I am an MBA student at Christ University. I decided to pursue my management degree from Christ on the suggestion of my teachers, as this university is known nationally for its management and other courses.
Christ University has a strong industry reputation. This is the reason why well-known brands from across various sectors participate in the placement process of Christ each year.
Here’s a list of such brands- Deloitte, Goldman Sachs, Ernst & Young, Morgan Stanley, Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL), Procter & Gamble (P&G), McKinsey & Company, Boston Consulting Group (BCG), Amazon, Microsoft, Infosys, Wipro, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Aditya Birla Group, among others.
The highest packages during Christ placements reach up to 21-22 LPA, and a good number of student secure packages worth 7 LPA and above. As evident from the list of recruiters above, graduates from Christ get the opportunity to work in various sectors like finance, marketing, consulting, technology, etc. This provides them the opportunity to work in a field that particularly interests them. Christ has a strong alumni network as well, which offers support and guidance to students.
Overall, Christ offers good MBA placements.
Do northern Indian people find it difficult to adjust to the top NIT’s in the south?
North Indians may face slight issues while adjusting to the culture and language at South Indian NITs like NIT Warangal.
- Language: There isn't much of a language problem here because most academic conversations are conducted in the English language. However, outside the college, you may find it very difficult to deal with the public, especially the drivers and shopkeepers. If you have some good South Indian friends, they will help you.
- Food : Usually there is a separate mess for South and North Indian food. But if your college does not have this provision, you will have to adapt yourself to the south indian taste. Students are usually given basic dishes like rice, dal, vegetables, chapati, bread butter etc. with a hint of south Indian flavor in each. For a change, you can sometimes visit canteens or restaurants.
- Culture : Here you won't be able to celebrate Diwali, Holi and Dussehra the way you do in your home state. South Indian festivals like pongal , ugadi, ganesh chaturthi, diwali, holi, saraswati pooja will be celebrated by all.
- Crowd: South Indians are very friendly, hospitable, and honest. They respect you and your culture and expect the same from you. You will end up with many South Indian friends by the end of your college life.
It's true, North Indians have to come out of their comfort zones to adapt to the culture at NITs. but once you have adjusted yourself, you will love how diverse your friend group is and the amazing experiences they gave you.
