What should I take, IT in IIIT Allahabad (5 years), ECE in IIIT Allahabad (5 years) or ECE in NIT Allahabad?

MT
Meghna Tiwari Posted On : June 1st, 2021
Studied Bachelor of Technology in Electronics and Communication Engineering at IIIT Allahabad (2019)

Among all the options you have mentioned, the one which you should actually consider is ECE in IIIT Allahabad for a duration of 5 years.

The closing rank of IIIT Allahabad is better than ECE at NIT Allahabad and IT at IIIT Allahabad. ECE is best pursued at MNNIT Allahabad rather than IIIT Allahabad. But then I should also mention that IT is better for IIIT Allahabad than anywhere else. That's a fact.

If you have a knack for coding and it holds your concern, the environment that is accurate for a coding culture can be provided by IIIT Allahabad.

Therefore, if coding and IT are your forte, a 5-year IT course at IIIT Allahabad is the one for you. The faculty there are experienced and carry specializations that guide you through your way.

Look at the bigger picture which holds your future and then go for an aim. Choose such a specialization that ensures security to your future as well.

But then, if you eventually want to settle on ECE, MNNIT is the right place.

Which is better for engineering: Electronics at VIT, Pune or EnTC at VIIT, Pune?

PS
Pulkit Singhal Posted On : January 11th, 2021
BE E&TC from Vishwakarma Institute of Information Technology, Pune (2017)

VIT Pune is a more reputed college irrespective of its courses. Placements are good with an average package of 4-7 LPA and the highest package is around 26.4LPA. VIIT Pune is also an autonomous college where it has collaborated with VIT to conduct its placements. Hence students in both the colleges will get equal opportunity to go through the recruitment process.

Placement statistics for VIT, Pune

Academic year

Number of companies visited

Highest pay package offered (LPA)

Average pay package per student (LPA)

2017-18

153

37.40

5.94

2018-19

223

27.00

5.53

2019-20

26.04

6.68

Hence, I would recommend that you can go to any college since both the colleges work in a collaborative manner. The placement rate is almost the same then you can go to any of the colleges for admission. The only thing you need to focus on is finding your interest and giving your best in the same field.

Which college should I chose for ECE/ENI, Manipal, Thapar SRM, NIT (Sikkim, Megalaya, Srinagar, Mizoram) or IIIT Kancheepuram?

AC
Anwesha Chatterjee Posted On : July 28th, 2021
Studied at Asian School of Journalism (2019)

Many of my friends opted for IIITDM Kancheepuram. It has been established for over 11 years. According to them, it is quite stable. The infrastructure of the college is great and it is equipped with the best hostel.

  • The course curriculum is accordingly designed as per the requirements of the industry.
  • Although you may find some of the courses missing which are quite common, you need not worry about that as the curriculum focuses on design and manufacturing.
  • The institute conducts exams at regular intervals and does not create much anxiety amongst the students.
  • The faculty consists of very well-experienced and cooperative members.
  • The college also has an 85% attendance policy so getting a tough faculty is an obvious reason.
  • There are a lot of clubs that are headed by students which have also been mentioned on the institute‘s website.
  • The student community in the college is extremely active.
  • Every semester, various technical and cultural events are conducted and an annual techno-cultural fest – Samgatha is also conducted.
Categories IIITDM Kancheepuram
Course Fee 5.25 lakh
Highest CTC 14-18 LPA
Average CTC 8-10 LPA
Recruiting Companies Adobe, Reliance, Cognizant, Saint Gobain, etc.

The cultural and technical events get a lot more attraction in the even semesters. However, there is not much to talk about the food. Therefore, it can be concluded that this college is a good choice.

Which is a better option: mechanical at PEC Chandigarh or electronics and comm. at NIT Delhi?

SS
Sulagna Saha Posted On : January 12th, 2021
Studied Bachelor of Engineering in Industrial and Production Engineering at National Institute of Technology, Delhi (2019)

Among the two, Mechanical at PEC Chandigarh would be a better choice. PEC being an old and highly recognized institute whereas NIT Delhi is comparatively a newer establishment.

Placement (Winning Institute- PEC Chandigarh)

  • PEC has a progressive atmosphere for core branches like mechanical. The faculties help in placement training and creative experimental works.
  • The top recruiting companies include Alstom, Volvo, Fiat, L&T, Indian Oil, etc.
  • Although ECE is a stream of greater demand as both core Electronics and IT companies recruit ECE graduates. NIT Delhi, being a recently established institute has a lower average CTC offered to its students than Mechanical at PEC Chandigarh.

The table below states the basic overview of the required departments from the two institutes.

Particulars

Mechanical at PEC Chandigarh

Electronics and Communication at NIT Delhi

NIRF ’20 Rank

68

251-300

Total Fees

?4.16 Lakh

?6.05 Lakh

Median Salary

?7 Lakh per annum

?6.05 Lakh per annum

JEE Main Cut off

33005

14795

Total Seats

110

60

Opportunities

  • After completing Mechanical at PEC, students can opt for a Masters in Design which serves a purpose of Architectural discipline and great demand.

Campus

  • PEC Chandigarh has a better campus and infrastructure than NIT Delhi.
  • Co-curricular activities like fests, sports, events, etc. take place on a larger scale in PEC Chandigarh, being a more popular institute.

The comparison between Electronics and Communication at NIT Delhi and Mechanical at PEC Chandigarh is entirely dependent on what the candidate wants, both being completely different streams. But PEC still stands a step ahead, being a more reputed institution.

Should I choose ECE at IIITH or go for CSE at NIT Surathkal?

SM
Suratha Mishra Posted On : July 9th, 2021
Dual Degree from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani (2023)

My sister studied CSE from NIT Surathkal which is an excellently ranked Institute. It has excellent opportunities available for anyone in the CSE department. It is the best option in terms of placements because core ECE jobs do not pay well. The number of jobs available to CSE graduates is way more than those to ECE.

If you notice the trend, you will see that a huge number of new companies have surfaced in the last decade, a few of them who recruit CSE students are Flipkart, Swiggy, Zomato, and Paytm.

You won't find a single MNC for ECE students and if any does, it's the core companies whose number is less than 15 here in India. These days ECE companies are not investing in B.Tech students, they are more interested in Masters candidates.

Some startups have come up in core engineering but there's a high chance that it will merge with other prosperous companies. They don't even provide good pay.

If you look at the reputation and academic excellence of both the Institutes, then you will realize that they are good. It's always advisable to choose CSE because data is king, currently.
