For B.Tech courses VIT has been ranked #15-300 in India for the year 2020 by NIRF rankings. In Tamil Nadu, the university was ranked #4th for courses in B.Tech. On the other hand, Manipal University was ranked #8-200 for top universities in India by NIRF rankings in the year 2020.

Admissions

• Manipal University, Manipal:

  • Completed his/ her 10+2 grade or equivalent from a recognized board With Physics, Mathematics, and English as the compulsory subjects with 50% marks.

  • The candidate taking admission should also qualify the Manipal Entrance Test (MET)- 2020.

  • 3.35 Lakhs is the total fee for the CSE course in the 1st year.

• VIT Vellore:

  • The candidate must have completed 10+2 with PCM or PCB as the subjects.

  • Minimum 60% marks should be obtained by the aspirant in 10+2.

  • The selections are done on the basis of counseling and marks obtained in the entrance texts i.e., VITEEE.

• Manipal University, Manipal:

• VIT Vellore:

  • 713+ companies visited the campus with a total of 705 dream offers.

  • The highest package offered was 41.60 LPA and 6.05 LPA was the average salary offered.

  • Microsoft, Philips, HP, TCS, Wipro, Intel, Bank of America, Infosys, Deloitte, and Bosch among many others are top recruiters of the University.

Campus

• Manipal University, Manipal:

  • The campus is about 313 acres in the area.

  • Hospital facilities, sports facilities, and innovative centers are available for students, Wi-Fi facility is available everywhere across the campus, restaurants, libraries, hostel, labs, etc. are some of the facilities available on-campus.

• VIT Vellore:

  • The campus size is about 250 acres.

  • Clubs, library, sports facilities, hostel, health services, transport facilities, pollution friendly management projects such as liquid waste management, solid waste management, solar power, wind power, etc. are some of the facilities and activities going on in the campus.

If the subject is not the priority then VIT is a lot ahead of Manipal as it provides excellent placements and living environment to the students. But it all depends on the choice and interests of the aspirant seeking admissions.

NIT Manipur ranks 158th for BTech by NIRF 2020. It is recognized by UGC and AICTE. It has a 300+ acres campus area. It has a faculty strength of 70 members most of them being highly qualified and PhD holders.

NIT Agartala is ranked 75 for BTech by NIRF 2020. The institute has a strength of 3101 students and a highly qualified faculty of 2450 members. 

NIT Meghalaya ranks 61st for BTech by NIRF 2020. 104 students were placed in the 2018-2019 placement program conducted by the institute. It is accredited by AICTE.

Admission Requirements - 

• Applicants should have at least 75% in their 10+2 qualifying exams with PCM with a valid score in JEE Main.
• For MTech applicants 60% in BTech or BE is required with a GATE score.
• Selection will be based on the rank obtained in the entrance exams.

NIT Agartala

• 22 companies participated in the placement program.
• 188 students were placed.

NIT Meghalaya

• 80 companies participated in the placement program.
• 103 offers were made.
• Top Companies like Accenture, Wipro, Infosys, Bosch, Vedanta, Cortex, Sapient, Polaris and many more participated in the placement program of NIT Meghalaya.

Facilities 

NIT Manipur 

• They have 2 boys and 1 girls hostel with sports grounds, courts and healthcare facilities.
• The campus has a central library.
• It also consists of an ATM.

NIT Agartala

• The institute has a faculty of 239 members, 160 of them being PhD holders.
• There are 6 boys hostels and 2 girls hostels.
• The campus also includes a canteen, an ATM and a Bank. They also have necessary medical facilities.

NIT Meghalaya

• It has a 300 acres of campus area.
• They have a faculty of 93 members 85 of them being PhD holders.
• They have a central library, computer centres, state of art classrooms, healthcare and sports facilities.

Students pursuing ECE can work as Electronics Engineer, Field Test Engineer, Network Planning Engineer, Electronics and Communications Consultant, Research and Development Software Engineer. CSE will provide more scope due to the rapid development and growth of the corporate world and IT sectors. There is a constant demand for CSE graduates by many top companies.

NIT Kurukshetra is one of the best engineering colleges in India and is known for its course structure and placements. ECE course at NIT, Kurukshetra is not very popular however, it has its advantages of being a research and theory-driven course with passionate students showing incredible results.

• Most B.Tech students choose their specialization after the first year depending upon their merit as well as interests. In this sense, the ECE course is mostly taken by students interested in that subject and driven to excel in it.
• The selection for B.Tech in ECE depends on the JEE scorecard of the student and a personal interview. Students who graduate from NIT usually have an edge over students from other colleges because of their reputation.
• NIT Kurukshetra does provide ample research and development opportunities for students taking ECE and are encouraged to take higher education abroad due to inefficient infrastructure in India.
• Apart from this, ECE is the most available course at NIT and any student wishing to pursue it on the matters of interest will get the subjects easily.

CSE at IIITM Gwalior is also a famous course with many benefits over peers. One of the most beneficial factors is placements as most of their CSE students get placed in their final year.

• CSE course at IIITM Gwalior has immense value as it employs goal-driven students to participate in research activities through modern technology provided by the institution.
• Faculty: The faculty at IIITM Gwalior has been vouched for by countless alumni and their course structure also looks for further research initiatives.
• Admissions: Admission to CSE course at IIITM is done through JEE scores and appointment of specialization is done by students after their first year depending on their marks.

All-in-all looking at the two universities, it is clear that it depends on the student’s choice what they wish to pursue depending on their JEE rank and scores While placements at IIITM Gwalior are better than the ECE course of NIT Kurukshetra, NIT does provide them with an industry name which can be useful while looking for employment later. The fee for CSE course at IIITM Gwalior is 1.49 L Per annum, whereas the fee for the ECE course at NIT, Kurukshetra is 70k per annum. Thus, it completely depends on the student’s preferences, financial capacity and JEE score to get into one of these institutes.

NIRF ranked GITAM institute for B.Tech as 101 out of 200 in India for the year 2020. On the other hand, according to The Week, Malla Reddy was ranked 151 for B.Tech in India 2020.

Faculty:

The faculty of ECE and ME department of GITAM and Malla Reddy is quite good as per the reviews of the students. They are well-qualified and have years of experience.

The course details for ECE and ME at both these institutions are given below.

Admissions:

GITAM Vizag:

• The candidate must have completed 10+2 from a recognized board.

• 60% is the minimum marks required for the admissions in the institute.

• You should also achieve a 1st class or equivalent grade, which is the qualifying criteria.

Malla Reddy:

• The prerequisite for admission is 10+2 with PCM.

• The spirant seeking admissions must have got a minimum of 45% marks.

• The institute accepts JEE scores or EAMCET for the qualifying round.

Placements:

Both the institutes have a separate training cell, which specifically pays attention to the placements.

GITAM Vizag:

• Recently 300 companies visited the campus for selections.

• Out of 2900, 1921 students got placed on-campus and 212 got placed off-campus.

Malla Reddy:

• Some top recruits of 2020 were: Amazon, Microsoft, TCS, INFOSYS, Samsung, Tech Mahindra, NCR, EA Sports, etc.

• The highest package offered was INR 14 LPA and the average salary package offered was INR 4 LPA.

The institute organizes training programs for their students to develop interview and soft skills. The placement cell has collaborated with various industries for industrial training, on-campus and off-campus placements.

Facilities:

Malla Reddy Engineering College:

• Well developed modern library on the campus has all the facilities required for a student.

• Laboratories and computer systems are well connected with Wi-Fi facilities and updated with the latest versions.

• Other facilities like hostels, Sports facilities, canteens, auditoriums, hospitals, and transport facilities are also provided for the students.

GITAM:

• Campus facilities like housing, student clubs, auditorium, student’s chapters, bus service, and sports facilities are available.

• Health and Wellness programs are also there on the campus.

In most of the institutes, ECE has more placements scopes as compared to ME. On comparing the above data the aspirant can decide which is better for them.

I have friends from both KJ Somiya and DJ Sanghavi. Based on the conversations I had with them, here is a brief comparison of the institutes. 

• Teaching: Both institutes have good faculty bases and good academic infrastructure with well-established laboratories. 
• Student crowd: The crowd at both institutes is similar. Both have a Gujrathi minority. 
• Campus: KJ Somiya has a bigger campus. It has a full-size football ground, basketball ground, volleyball ground, tennis court, etc. DJ Sanghavi has a small campus but it offers better infrastructure. 
• Placements: Placement wise KJ Somiya is better than DJ Sanghavi. The former offers better packages. Most of the companies that recruit from KJ Somiya are from the IT industry. Also, a few telecom companies visit the campus placements. 

Here are the placement highlights of both the institutes in brief.

Both Electronics and EXTC students can appear for Telecommunications companies. However, EXTC has better scopes in this field.

Nirma University, DDIT, Nadiad, and SRM, AP are private institutions of the country. While all are approved by UGC, DDIT is also recognized by AICTE. Nirma University and DDIT are graded ‘A’ and ‘B++’ by NAAC, respectively.

The only differences between general and NRI seats are the fee and application process, for both DDIT and SRM AP.

Infrastructure and Facilities

• Nirma University: The institute offers facilities such as outdoor sports, courts, transport, library, etc. The campus also hosts a number of events, seminars, and activities.
• DDIT: The institute offers an environment of all-round development, excellent faculty, library, hostel, sports, labs, etc.
• SRM AP: The institute offers its students learning in various forms, both formal and informal, sports grounds, courts and tracks, yoga rooms, transport, etc.

Scholarships

• Nirma University: Students are offered Merit and Merit-cum-Means scholarships by the institute. The value of aid varies according to institutes.
• DDIT: 4 students are awarded merit and merit cum means scholarships each year. DDU Alumni Scholarship Association Fund has also been set up.
• SRM AP: The institute offers scholarships based on merit, need, disability, and arts and culture, and armed forces scholarships as well.

Placement Statistics

• Nirma University: 95% of students were placed and the highest CTC offered was 16 LPA and the average CTC was 8.2 LPA. Top recruiters include Amul, Ashok Leyland, L&T, ICICI Bank, RBI, etc.
• DDIT: The highest and average packages offered were 18 LPA and 4.5 LPA, respectively. Top recruiters include Amazon, Infosys, RBI, Amul, etc.
• SRM AP: Since the first badge of this institute will graduate in 2021, no placement data is available for the same. 190 B.Tech. students got internships in 75 companies including ONGC, Coca Cola, Flextronics, etc. Some also spent a semester abroad.

Students must compare all the programs and institutes properly before selecting one. Whether one of these institutes is the best is difficult to say since it is one’s personal discretion.

NIT Manipur offers a tremendous and technical environment for the ECE department. The institute ranks 148th in the engineering category by NIRF 2019 ranking and produces quality engineers in the industrial area. The placements for the ECE department is almost 70% every year. 

On the other hand, Jamia Millia Islamia stands proud for its NIRF rankings of 26th among the top 100 universities of India and providing 100% placement record for all its degree programs. 

Admission process:

NIT Manipur:

• The minimum eligibility is 10+2 with a minimum aggregate of 75% marks. 
• The candidates have to pass the JEE Main exam followed by a JoSAA counselling to get admission.
• The seats allotted for this course is 30.
• The total fees required is INR 1.48 LPA.
• The cutoff required is 12980 - 21991.

Jamia Millia Islamia:

• The minimum eligibility criteria is 55% marks in 10+2.
• The fees required is INR 16,150.
• The cutoff required is 0-5349.
• The seats alloted is 40.

Placements:

Jamia Millia Islamia witnessed the participation of 52 companies and extended 257 job offers in 2019.

NIT Manipur provides 100% placement records. The highest salary offered is INR 43 LPA by Microsoft.

The top recruiters are Amdocs, HCL, Mphasis, Microsoft, IBM, TV9, Wipro, TCS, Cognizant, Accenture, etc.

Faculty:-

The teachers in both these institutes are well-qualified and always inspire the students in every aspect. They help the students by conducting mock interviews and training sessions so that the students can crack the interview smoothly. 

Jamia Millia Islamia ranks 27th as compared to NIT Manipur, which is 148th. Jamia Millia Islamia is located in Delhi that provides a lot more options for higher education, internship opportunities, etc.

The fees at Jamia Millia Islamia is also less compared to NIT Manipur. Therefore, Jamia Millia Islamia should be the 1st choice for pursuing ECE than NIT Manipur.

MSRIT and Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Technology both are reputed institutes. However, as the courses mentioned are different for the institutes it is difficult to choose which option would be better. Given below are a few factors that you should consider while comparing these two institutes.

Ramaiah Institute of Technology:

Formerly known as M.S Ramaiah Institute of Technology, is ranked 7th for private engineering by the week 2020.

Academics:
For B.E. in chemical engineering, the college offers a total of 60 seats. The total fees for the course are Rs 3.47 Lakhs. Specifically, for this course, the college was ranked as 59th.

Faculty:

The professors who are present in the college are well versed in their area of specialization and have Ph.D. degrees. The course curriculum is designed in a way that incorporates the latest industry trends.

Placements:

• Some of the top companies that visit the college include Accenture, Wipro, Infotech, Infosys, 99acres.com, Healthmantra, ABB, Hindustan Unilever Ltd, Qualcomm, Adobe, HP (Core), Radio Mirchi, HP (IT) among various others.

• The highest salary offered was Rs 25 LPA and the average salary recorded was Rs 7.2 LPA.

Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Technology:

Dr. B.R. Ambedkar institute of technology, Bangalore, the college is AICTE recognized and it is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU).

Academics:
It offers a BE for ECE.

• The candidate should have passed class 12th with at least 45% of marks with any recognized board.

• The candidate should also appear for the KCET Examination or COMEDK UGET in order to seek admission for BE ECE.

Faculty:

Teachers who are in college are highly qualified. They have immense knowledge about the course. The college classes are interactive and there are frequent seminars held so that the students and students can learn effectively.

Placements:

• In the academic year 2020, 34 companies visited the campus, and the students received around 503 job offers.

• Some of the top companies that visited the college included; ACCENTURE, Alcatel, CMC, Cognizant, Cummins, HCL, Hewlett Packard, HONEYWELL, IBM, Infosys, L T, LEAP, Mind Tree, Mphasis, Siemens, SYNTEL, Tech Mahindra, and Tesco HSC.

• The highest salary which was offered was Rs 8 LPA which was given by BYju’s and the lowest which was recorded was Rs 2.8 LPA which was given by Emphasis.

These are some of the major factors that you need to consider while comparing these two institutes. However, you should choose the course you are most interested in and the institute according to that.
