Is it worth it to do engineering physics from NIT Calicut?
You would first decide whether it is a good option to do Engineering Physics, then no matter whichever college you choose. It is important that you know a few details before making a final decision about college.
About the course:
- Engineering Physics is a 4-year programme whose course commences in the first year and for three years you will study the same structure as of BSc-Physics.
- It includes Quantum Mechanics, Nuclear Physics, etc. But in Engineering Physics practical knowledge is given more importance which will help you gaining extermination knowledge.
Placements:
- A career after Engineering Physics is not promising. You cannot expect to get a place on campus with an Engineering Physics degree.
- There are not many companies that have the Engineering Physics job requirement.
- Most of the companies have different recruitment processes which cannot be done on-campus, except government firms like DRDO, BARC, etc.
You should not lose hope as college faculties and alumni help students in getting placed by identifying your interest.
Scope:
- Some students after completing Engineering Physics go for an MSc course and get into research and join IITs or institutes such as BARC.

Is Amity University Kolkata good for BTech CSE ?
Amity University Kolkata is a private institution situated in Kodampukur and was established in 2015. The university provides a wide variety of courses in different streams such as Science, Business and Management Studies, Engineering, Law, IT and Software, Arts, etc. BTech in CSE is one of the courses provided by the institute. The following are the factors that one should consider before joining CSE in Amity University Kolkata:
- Fee Structure
Since the institute is private the fee structure is not quite affordable for the middle class family. The institute comprises students from the upper-middle class and high-class families. The course fee for BTech CSE is Rs 1, 05, 500 per annum.
- Admission and Scholarship
The students are supposed to attend Amity Joint Entrance Examination and their scores in the 12th standard are also a deciding factor to grab the seats in CSE or in any branch the students are interested in. The scholarship facilities are offered to the students on the Merit list. Those students who scored above 90 percent in the 12th board examination could avail a 50 percent reduction from total fees and those students score 80 percent could avail a 25 percent reduction from total fees. This is available only in the first year. The students should maintain good CGPA to get the fee reduction throughout the course period.
- Faculties
Faculties are quite well experienced and supportive. Most of them either hold a Ph.D. or pursuing it presently. The faculties create an interactive atmosphere and employ different teaching methods which enhances the clarity of concepts taught.
- Infrastructure and laboratories
The institute was established in 2015. So, the infrastructure has a freshly built exterior. The CSE laboratories are fully furnished with brand new computers. But the labs are small.
- Placement
All the placement activities are channeled from Amity University’s Noida campus. The highest salary package offered was Rs 28 lakhs and the average salary package was Rs 4 lakhs. Major companies in which the students placed were Amazon, Byju’s, L & T Infotech, ITC, Wipro, TCS, Infosys, etc.
What is the cutoff for CSE at NIT Trichy?

Which should I choose, MNNIT Allahabad CSE or DTU SE?
MNNIT Allahabad offers good CSE. In terms of opportunities, MNNIT CSE is at par with top NITs (and even some IITs). As for course curriculum and faculty, these are almost equally good at all top engineering colleges. During 2023 placements, the highest package for CSE at MNNIT was 1.35 CPA, and the average package was 27.57 LPA. SE is comparatively easier than CSE or IT, but it offers similar placement opportunities to its students. SE students are eligible for companies seeking CSE/IT students.
Both the colleges are highly reputed, and you can choose either of them for your B.Tech studies.
How is the placement in CSE at IIT Guwahati?
Around 90% of students at IIT Guwahati are successfully placed and the placements are considered to be the best. It's important to note that the remaining students who weren't placed actually opted for higher education in other reputed universities. Top recruiters like Uber, Samsung, Microsoft, Google, and JP Morgan visit the university with the highest package offered by Uber being INR 2.2 Crore and the lowest package being INR 15 LPA. The average salary package for Computer Science Engineering (CSE) is INR 29 LPA. In terms of internships, students were offered INR 2 lacs per month by companies such as Uber and Microsoft. We have witnessed a shift from the EE department to the CSE department due to advancements in computer science. Today, CS is indispensable in every field. AI field is similarly gaining momentum and is expected to reach heights in the future. To make the most out of AI, some universities have started including this course in their current curriculum while the more passionate ones have chosen to create a separate department dedicated to it. For instance, MIT and CMU have recognized the hidden potential of AI and are already establishing a separate department for it.
Many are concerned if IIT Hyderabad will be able to tap the potential of AI rightly or not. However, the MTech in Machine Learning Program offered by IIT Hyderabad is a living example of how well they will be able to establish the AI branch as well.
IIT Hyderabad has some great faculty both in the CSE and EE Department who have great experiences in the field of machine learning, computer vision, speech and image processing, NLP, text processing, statistics and probability, etc.
However, it’s recommended that people go through the curriculum and talk to seniors before taking up this course. Genuine passion and interest in this field is required to take up this course else you will end up regretting your decision.
