Is IES better than IAS ?

DB
Dishari Banerjee Posted On : February 25th, 2021
Studied at Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology, Allahabad (2018)

This depends mainly on the candidate’s personal choice and what he or she is aiming for. IES stands for Indian Engineering Services and IAS stands for Indian Administrative Services. The examination and recruitment of both these officers are managed by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission). Both of these are high-profile jobs and receive much respect and honor from the government and the people.

Job Role

  • An IES officer handles the technical duties and is responsible for managing the technical tasks of various services of the Indian government.
  • An IAS officer deals more in public and handles the administrative department of the public sector, state and union government.

An IAS officer is more powerful compared to an IES officer as it has more respect in society and commands more power. The pay scales of both are the same but an IAS officer is probably more famous and likely in society. Both of them receive awards and recognition from the government for their work and contributions to society.

Branches

  • In IES there are branches like telecom, road, railways, and other infrastructure where you can work by choosing any one of them and show your capabilities and skills.
  • In IAS there are IFS( Indian Foreign Service), IPS (Indian Police Service) and IRS (Indian Revenue Service). A candidate can choose from any of these branches and join them and excel in their future.

Academics

  • To join IES, a candidate must be an engineering graduate from any of the recognized universities. A candidate can apply for IES as much as one wants as there are no limitations on the number of attempts.
  • To join IAS, a candidate must have a bachelor's degree from any of the recognized universities in any course. In the IAS exam, a candidate can apply only 6 times.

Categories

IAS

IES

Application Fee

100 (Free for Female and Reserved Candidates)

200 (Free for Female and Reserved Candidates)

Number of Seats

1000

Around 500

In IAS, there is a wide variety of subjects and a candidate can choose from one of them according to their choice and preference for the exams.

In IES, there are no choices as it consists of subjects specific to engineering courses like civil, mechanical, electrical, etc.

What is the course fee of air hostess training in Frankfinn Institute? What is the duration of the course?

BBA from Osmania University

The total course fee for air-hostess training at Frankfinn Institute is 91,000. The duration of the course is 1 year.

However, before joining the course, you should research it. If you want to become a cabin crew, first research the prerequisites. It’s possible that you are already eligible for the role. In that case, you don’t need to join a training academy. You can appear for walk-in interviews if you meet all the basic eligibility criteria.

Is 6.7 CGPA good for 1st semester at IIT Kharagpur?

AB
Aditi Banerjee Posted On : March 21st, 2023

I suggest you not to score below 6.5 as CGPA 7 is a must to get admission in a good foreign university. However with a CGPA of 6.5 you can go for Government jobs. I know a friend who did not focus on CGPA and played football and today is struggling to get a good job.

It is all the more difficult to get a good CGPA after low marks in the first semester because the professors evaluate you on the basis of previous grades sometimes. However, you will get placement into a decent private company so you don’t have to worry much.

Basically, even after getting admission at a good institute like IIT KGP, you have to keep struggling to score high marks.

Is it worth it to join BITS Pilani, Goa, Hyderabad by paying a fee of around 4,69,000 per year?

DS
Divya Saraf Posted On : June 26th, 2023
Lives in Hyderabad

In my opinion, if you aren’t certain of your career prospects and don’t have the luxury to spend a hefty amount, go for a government-funded institute over BITS.

Additionally, India as a whole has fewer job profiles in the core sector so it’s illogical to pay such hefty fees for a degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Chemical at BITS.

But if you are inclined towards CS then taking a loan might be a good option considering the high packages offered in this branch. BITS dual degree programs are also in high demand these days. BITS has many merit-cum-need scholarships for students from weak financial backgrounds that are provided on the basis of grades and family income.

Ultimately, you should consider BITS if you can afford it and for CS or dual degree programs only.
