Your chances to get into FMS Delhi and any other older IIMs depend upon three criteria.
- First is how your CAT exam went. If you are in a general category, then you have to score at least 98 percentile in the CAT exam to get a call from these institutes.
- Second is how well you gave the interview. An interview is a make-or-break thing to enter into these institutes. If you give a good interview, then the interviewer will consider you even if you are lagging behind in a few aspects.
- Third, is the student profile, like your 10th, 12th, undergraduate percentage, and work experience.
The major contributor to your admission would be the first two factors. Your profile does not make such a difference when you excel in the first two. You could get into one of these prestigious institutes if you work hard enough.
How difficult is it to get a cgpa of 9+ in IIT GANDHINAGAR in the first year?
Getting a 9+ CGPA anywhere is not an easy job. You need to be constant in terms of study and securing 9+ CGPA overall requires a high CGPA in all the subjects.

For IIT Gandhinagar, there is a credit system where the first semester consists of 22 credits with 4 courses of 4 credits and 2 are of 3 credits. Coming to the second semester, it has a total of 24 credits where 5 subjects have 4 credits and 2 subjects have 2 credits in all.

- Unfortunately, I have no knowledge about this Institute. However, I recommend you contact the seniors of IIT Guwahati for the same.
IIT Hyderabad Maths and Computing
- Usually, MNCs attract top-tier software and financial services firms. If you are a hardworking student, it wouldn’t be difficult to secure amazing offers at top firms.
IIIT Hyderabad CSE
- IIIT H has possibly one of the best computer science departments in the country.
- You have to do core computer science courses right from the first year.
- Many students get selected for Google Summer of Code and IIIT Hyderabad has its alumni in top-notch firms.
- Being highly academically oriented, IIIT Hyderabad has minimal campus life and extracurricular activities.
Ultimately, it’s a matter of preferences and what you are looking for in your degree.

IIM Shillong does not have an OBC reservation due to some state laws. I have 63% in 10th and 47% in 12th. Also, I got 59% in graduation. Is there any chance to get admission in IIM and FMS Delhi?
IIMs and FMS Delhi are the top management institutes in India, and they have very competitive admission processes. A high academic score can be an advantage but it is not the only criterion for admission. Admissions committees also consider other factors such as work experience, extracurricular activities, performance in entrance exams like CAT, XAT, or GMAT, and performance in GD and PI rounds.
Now based on the information you provided; your academic scores are below the average scores of the admitted candidates in these institutes. However, there are several factors that could improve your chances of admission. For example, if you have relevant work experience, achievements in extracurricular activities, a very high score in the CAT exam, a good GD score, and a really good and impressive personal interview, you could still be considered for admission.
So, the best thing for you right now is to focus on other aspects of your application such as your work experience, extracurricular activities, and performance in the entrance exams. Also, research the admission criteria and requirements for the specific programs you are interested in and try to meet them to the best of your ability. There is no specific profile that is able to make it into MDI Gurgaon. Some are able to make it into MDI even with the 94 percentile and some are not able to get even with the 98 percentile. It’s the personal interview and GD round that comes into play here. The ones with lower percentiles usually have exceptionally good communication skills. The ones that make it into MDI with high percentile usually have decent work experience and profile.
But for MBA-IM there are many with mid-94–95 percentiles and decent profiles.
The conclusion is that you either need
- High CAT score
Or
- Excellent profile
Or
- A very good GDPI score
A rich blend of the three increases your chances of getting into MDI Gurgaon drastically.
I want to study in ISB, Hyderabad. What are the things I need to work on, apart from GMAT, to be eligible for admission?

Both IIIT Allahabad and MNNIT are highly regarded engineering colleges in North India offering premium quality education. Placements-wide, MNNIT CSE is slightly better compared to both NSUT and IIITA. In my opinion, the preference order should be
MNNIT CSE >= IIITA IT > NSUT CS/AI
MNNIT is the first choice because it’s on Eid the top 5 NITs with the most sought-after branch CSE. IIIT Allahabad is also a great choice for CSE because it has a CS-tailored curriculum and ambiance.
Overall I feel if you are certain of joining an IT company, and have an interest in coding and computers go for IIIT Allahabad IT or MNNIT Allahabad. If you are unsure of your branch preference go for NSUT.
