Can I do DU SOL to DU regular?

KS
Keshav Singh Posted On : November 15th, 2022
B.Com in B.Com, School of Open Learning, University of Delhi (Graduated 2018)

You can transfer to DU Regular college from DU SOL, in the same course. However, there are a few key requirements to meet in order to be admitted to DU regular classes. You could get some advice from the following guidance:

  • If you perform exceptionally well in your first semester at DU SOL since DU exclusively accepts students who excel in their academic fields.
  • You must deliver all of the paperwork promptly.
  • For entrance-based examination procedures, you might be required to verify the terms of admission to DU normal institutions to determine whether or not an entrance exam is necessary.
  • Provide all the necessary documentation along with proof.

It is a fact that nothing is exceptionally unique about regular college; hard work is the only way to succeed. You can pour yourself completely into making the most of your SOL year by learning something new and professional that will open doors for you in the future.

How difficult is the JIPMER exam when compared to the NEET & AIIMS?

SS
Suman Sharma Posted On : September 21st, 2023
MBBS from Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research, Pondicherry (2021)

You will be surprised to know that the JIPMER exam is one of the easiest medical exams. The majority of the questions are easier than those asked in NEET. The ratio of the difficulty levels of JIPMER, NEET, and AIIMS is loosely 0.75:1:1.5.

The JIPMER syllabus is based on the Tamil Nadu state board syllabus , so it’s quite easy for CBSE students but the topics that are only a part of the Tamil Nadu state board need to be studied. The exam paper has 10 questions from the English language and 10 from logical reasoning.

However, the acceptance rate is extremely low at JIPMER due to the lesser number of seats. Unlike AIIMS, JIPMER does not have many branches. The main JIPMER is located in Puducherry while a new JIPMER came up in Karaikal. There are a total of 200 seats under JIPMER, 200 Seats in JIPMER Pondicherry & 50 seats in JIPMER Karaikal. Given the fact that around 1 lakh students appear for the exam every year, and only 200 get selected, the acceptance rate is as low as 0.15%.

Overall, the selection rates of the aforementioned institutes have been arranged below

AIIMS Delhi(~0.02%) > JIPMER Puducherry (~0.1%) > New AIIMS(0.5–1%)

Why has BIT Mesra gone down so drastically? Will it ever come back to normal?

AM
Ashish Mishra Posted On : August 9th, 2023
BE from Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra (2017)

There are various reasons combined together that have resulted in deteriorating education opportunities and quality at BIT Mesra. Despite the huge amount of funds ranging into hundreds of crores, the institute has been receiving, there is no improvement in the situation at all.  Here are a few reasons why BIT Mesra has suffered a deteriorating situation over the past few years

  • C.K. Birla Group is financially highly unstable and thus adds to the insecurity of the institute as a whole.
  • The government of Jharkhand has bad ties with BIT because the CM of Jharkhand was kicked out of BIT without a degree.
  • The faculty is worse than VIT, Manipal, RVCE, etc. The poor quality of facilities is the major reason for its drastic downfall. Most of the professors are underqualified or not interested in teaching.
  • The college promotes zero research culture and this has resulted in a gradual downfall.
  • There is a huge communication gap between the administration and students. Students should be given positions in administration and the administration should work on improving the facilities such as the incubation center for the betterment of the institute.
  • The T n P Cell is also responsible for the fall in the placements. They have minimal connections with alumni and fail to attract better companies.
  • The institute lacks International Collaborations for undergraduate internships and research.

The students should work hard to bring about the above changes if they want to save their college from falling into the pit.

Which medical college is better: UCMS or VMMC?

SK
Sanjana Kapoor Posted On : September 25th, 2023
Lives in New Delhi

Here are a few parameters on which one can compare the two colleges-

  • Academics- UCMS has a more rigorous testing schedule, which is why its academics is considered better. On the other hand, VMMC provides you with more freedom to study the topics of your choice. For example, if you wish to apply for USMLE, you will have ample time for standard books, and extracurriculars to boost your CV.
  • Campus- The campus of UCMS is double in size. But VMMC has a safer campus where you can roam 24*7 without safety concerns. This is because of a good number of security guards dispatched throughout the college and hospital.
  • Location- Unlike UCMS, VMMC is surrounded by multiple hangout places. You can visit Hauz Khas, South Ex, Lajpat Nagar, Sarojini Nagar, Green Park, and Saket from VMMC. CP is just 30 minutes away, even by metro.
  • Hostels- UCMS offers single seater hostel rooms for all, and the rooms are more spacious as well. At VMMC, you can customize your room according to your will. I don’t know about UCMS, but VMMC hostels have no curfew timings. NBH (New Boys’ Hostel) has good rooms, surrounded by greenery.
  • Hospital- Safdarjung Hospital is better than GTB. It has the largest OPD in Asia, so you’ll have ample cases to learn. There’s a large number of PG seats at Safdarjung.
  • Societies- VMMC has a dance society (Neocracy), a music society (Kehrawa), a fashion society, a sports society and a dramatic society (Kaivalya). I am not aware of the societies at UCMS.

Based on these parameters, I would recommend you join VMMC for your MBBS. But even UCMS is a good college.

Why is M.S. better than M. Tech at IIT Madras?

TB
Tushar Banerjee Posted On : March 28th, 2023
studied at Indian Institute of Technology, Madras

There are many reasons why MS is a much more preferred program than MTech these days.

Fees: The MTech fees at IIT Madras are more than that of MS thus making MS a much cheaper option.

Placement: MS has better placements than MTech at IIT Madras.

Particulars

MS

MTech

Highest CTC

INR 58.80 LPA

INR 46.08 LPA

Median CTC

INR 15 LPA

INR 13.02 LPA

Stipend: M.S. students receive an average of 1 lakh rupees as stipend whereas MTech students may not get stipend anymore.

International exposure: MS students get enough international exposure through international conferences which is not possible for MTech students.

Selection Procedure: The selection procedure for the MTech program just requires a good GATE score and thus the quality of students is not as good as MS. The selection process of the MS program requires a GATE score, written test heat, and even an interview. The selection criteria being difficult, filters only the best for the course.

Considering the fees, placements, and selection procedure we can safely conclude that MS is a much-preferred option over MTech today.

How is life at CMC, Vellore as an undergraduate?

PR
Prashant Ranjan Posted On : September 21st, 2023
Christian Medical College and Hospital, Vellore

CMC Vellore is among the top 5 medical colleges in India. The unique aspect that sets it apart from other medical colleges is that it just doesn't make you a good doctor but also a good person. It focuses on the holistic development of the students such that earning money is not their end goal.

The second most appealing aspect is the faculty pool who are extremely eager to impart education and share their knowledge and experience with their students. The learning facilities are top-notch, the labs are well-equipped and the patient flow is also good.

Another good thing about the institute is that the patients are kind enough to let students interact with them and examine them, which is not the case in most big colleges. This is also why CMC Vellore students have better clinical exposure.

The hospital receives many complicated and rare cases because it’s a tertiary care center, so there are ample opportunities for research. You can approach any faculty member if you are interested in starting a project and they will guide you.

CMC Vellore has many exchange and elective programs with prestigious institutes like Karolinska Institute and Uppsala (both Sweden), NUS (Singapore), Kyoto University (Japan), places in Australia, as well as IISc Bangalore. This strengthens its alumni base that now spread across the globe in various positions in hospitals, governments, the WHO, etc.

CMC Vellore's unique trait is its focus on community health and development. Students are made aware of the problems that rural and urban India is facing right from the beginning.

The college gives equal importance to extracurriculars and students can be seen involved in many activities like music, dance, drama, and various sports.

CMC Vellore is an amazing choice in terms of academics, opportunities, exposure, and experiences.

Is NSIT a good college?

TA
Tithi Aggrawal Posted On : August 21st, 2023
Lives in New Delhi

If I ever had the chance to choose between NSUT and DTU, I would always NSUT Delhi. Here are a few reasons supporting my opinion

  • Placements : NSUT has some of the best placements in the country but the institute does not release the official data. From what I have heard, people get placed in top companies like Microsoft, Google, Adobe, Goldman Sachs, Royal Bank of Scotland, Samsung, Flipkart, Amazon, McKinsey & JPMC every year.
  • DU degree: The tag of DU cannot be underestimated at all. It certainly gives you a certain edge over other colleges and makes higher studies abroad a lot easier.
  • Crowd : NSIT (NSUT) has a very talented and diverse group of peers and you won’t find such a crowd in other engineering colleges. You will see a great bond between the juniors and seniors. The girl-to-boy ratio is much better compared to other engineering colleges too.
  • Location : NSIT is located in Dwarka so you have easy access to places via Metro/Car. The closest station is Dwarka Mor.

Overall, NSUT Delhi will offer a unique college life experience and force you to come out of your comfort zone and explore new things. You will be busy organizing fests and exploring your non-academic passions here. The institute will teach you to manage your time and inculcate problem-solving skills. When you will leave college after 4 years, you will be a new leaf!

In Savitribai Phule University Pune University how many times can a student give their backlog papers?

AK
Amit Kapoor Posted On : April 30th, 2026

at Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) for engineering, backlog papers (KT/ATKT) rules:

  • No fixed maximum limit on attempts for backlog papers under the CBCGS system — you can keep appearing until you clear
  • however there is a maximum duration rule: you typically have twice the normal program duration to complete all subjects. for a 4-year BTech, you have up to 8 years from enrollment to clear all papers
  • backlog papers are conducted along with regular semester exams. you don't need to re-enroll in the semester — just appear in the specific backlog subjects
  • after the official program duration ends, an extension may be granted on application, but this varies

practical note: the longer you carry backlogs, the harder it gets to prepare alongside current studies. clear backlogs as quickly as possible — most students who clear all KTs within 1-2 attempts avoid major career delays. check your college's exam section for the specific rules applicable to your admission year and exam scheme.

What does it take to get into XLRI, Jamshedpur?

AS
Aanand Sharma Posted On : March 16th, 2023
MBA in Marketing & Operations, Xavier School of Management

During an interview, the interviewer will typically evaluate you based on two factors. The first factor is your score, which is based on various parameters such as your confidence and knowledge. The second factor is the interviewer's judgement call, which is based on their overall impression of you.

If the interviewer gives you three ayes, then you're in, period. If you receive two ayes, your score will be considered. However, if there's only one aye or fewer, you won't be considered.

Although there is no set pattern for interviews, the interviewer will usually try to make you comfortable at the beginning before finding a way to put you under pressure. For example, they may present you with a puzzle that you have a limited amount of time to solve. The key here is to stay calm and not let the pressure rattle your confidence.

Once the interviewer has put you under pressure, they'll want to see how you perform. It's essential to remain the same person you were in the first half of the interview to demonstrate your abilities effectively. With these tips in mind, you'll be well-equipped to navigate any interview with confidence and ease.
