Which is better, IIT BHU electronic or IIT Guwahati mechanical?

For most students, the end goal of getting admission to a college is to secure a job in a good company. So most of the time placements become the basis for evaluating the worth and credibility of an institute. Here are some points pertaining to the placements in IIT BHU and IIT Guwahati

  • Very few core jobs are offered with only 20–25% of people from a branch securing a job in their core companies. This is because very few core companies visit and the package offered by them is less than non-core companies. Thus students flock to non-core companies. IITG is much better than IIT BHU in core placements as at IIT BHU, some faculties and labs are not up to the mark.
  • There are multiple non-core companies that offer jobs to the IITians in various profiles such as software development, business analysis, operations executive, and Finance management. IT-BHU offers the best non-core opportunities as the workload is less and placements are great.
  • You can easily change your branch at IIT BHU with very less effort. All you need to do is maintain a good SPI and then change your branch after the first semester.
  • Located in the prime area, IIT BHU will give you a feel of Varanasi, BHU Vishwanath temple.

However, for students whose priority is not to get a job but to pursue higher studies and pursue a career in research, IIT Guwahati is the best option. A few aspects and the preferred colleges are

  • Placements - IIT-BHU>IITG
  • Academics- IIT-BHU<IITG
  • Faculties- IITG>IIT-BHU
  • Branch change- IIT-BHU>IITG
  • Campus infrastructure- IIT-BHU<IITG
  • Campus life, culture- IIT-BHU>>IITG

The choice of the institute is a matter of preferences and your career prospects so make sure you set your priorities right.

Should I take NIT Suratkal IT or IIT BHU metallurgy?

PG
Prajukta Ghose Posted On : April 6th, 2023
Studied at the Indian Institute of Technology Varanasi

If you're trying to decide between NIT Suratkal and IIT(BHU) Varanasi, here are some points to consider:

  • First, think about your interests. If you're interested in coding and tech, NIT Suratkal may be the better option for you.
  • However, if the branch isn't a major factor in your decision, you may want to consider IIT(BHU) Varanasi. The IIT brand and alumni network are both very strong, and the Metallurgy Department at IIT(BHU) is one of the best and oldest in India.
  • That being said, if job placements are a top priority for you, it's worth noting that Metallurgy may not be the best choice in terms of placement opportunities. Only a few core companies come to IIT(BHU) Varanasi to recruit metallurgy students, and the packages they offer are often below average. Other students end up being placed in non-core sectors, like consulting and analytics.
  • On the other hand, while NIT Suratkal IT may not offer the best placement packages either, you'll likely have more opportunities in the field of IT, which you'll have studied in college.
  • Another advantage of IIT(BHU) Varanasi is the potential for higher studies opportunities. You'll have plenty of time to prepare for exams like CAT, GRE, GMAT, and even IAS if you're interested.
  • Finally, if you're willing to put in the work during your first semester at IIT(BHU) Varanasi, you can start off in Metallurgy and then switch to a different branch with better opportunities later on.

Consider your interests and priorities when making your decision. If coding and tech excite you, go for NIT Suratkal. But if you're looking for a strong alumni network and potential for higher studies opportunities, IIT(BHU) Varanasi may be the better choice.

Which is better for cs iit Patna or iit bhu?

SC
Suparana Chatterjee Posted On : August 13th, 2020
B.Tech+M.Tech. from Indian Institute of Technology Varanasi

IIT BHU CSE is better than IIT Patna CSE due to many reasons. First of all, the coding culture at IIT BHU is unparalleled. Although the coding culture at IIT Patna is quite revered, it still does not match IIT BHU. The institute(IIT BHU) also conducts Tech fests(Codefest being a prominent fest). Codefest has been successful in creating a competitive milieu for coding by inviting students from all over the world. The seniors at IIT BHU are very helpful and provides guidance.
An underpinning feature of IIT BHU is the Internship opportunities that it provides for students. The overall infrastructure of IIT BHU is also better than IIT Patna. While NIRF rankings(2019) rank IIT Patna at an overall rank of 22, IIT BHU is ranked at 11. The overall placement performance and scenario of IIT BHU also better when compared to IIT Patna. In 2019 a total of 66 students were placed with average packages ranging from 10 LPA to 58.21 LPA from CSE in IIT BHU. However, the 2019 placement highlights of IIT Patna revels 50 students from CSE got a placement with an average package of 13.5 LPA.
IIT BHU also has a vast number of alumni as compared to IIT Patna. Many alumni from IIT BHU CS have secured high echelons in eminent MNCs and PSUs. While some have placed themselves in reputed companies or opted for startups, others pursued further studies in reputed universities of the world. However, considering all the factors, CS at IIT BHU is definitely a better choice as compared to CS at IIT Patna.

Which branch should I choose, MNC in IIT BHU, IIT KGP, IIT Guwahati, or IIT Kanpur?

TA
Tithi Aggrawal Posted On : May 6th, 2023
Lives in New Delhi

If you have an interest in Computer Science, then MNC in IIT BHU is an excellent choice as the program has more CS courses than Math. There are various other reasons that make this course an excellent choice

  • IIT BHU has an environment conducive to coding and research.
  • The curriculum is flexible with a wide variety of electives to choose from and explore all fields
  • The programming clubs help hone your programming skills to the fullest
  • The placement scenario is excellent and recently a student was offered a package of 1.29 crore by Microsoft with the average package being 30 lakhs.
  • The usual average package is always above 20 LPA
  • Most CS companies offer similar job profiles to MNC students as well. Some of these are Microsoft, Oracle, Samsung, Uber, Intel, Flipkart, Goldman Sachs, etc.
  • Being an old IIT, it has an extensive alumni network
  • There are great clubs and committees to promote extracurricular activities.
  • TECHNEX, one of the oldest techno-management fest of India is organized by IIT BHU and its sports fest Spardha is the largest sports fest of India.

Basically, if you are inclined towards CS, then MNC at IIT BHU is better than both MNC at IIT Kanpur and CSE at newer IITs. MNC at IIT Kanpur is more inclined towards Math whereas the newer IITs lack the necessary infrastructure and opportunities.

Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science and Engineering: What cgpa is required to get the dream companies from iit BHU?

PG
Prajukta Ghose Posted On : July 7th, 2023
Studied at the Indian Institute of Technology Varanasi

Here is some strong advice for those who are conscious about their CGPA to get placed in a top firm. The kind of job and package you are offered depends on your skills and talents and not your CGPA or the institute you belong to. Many intelligent students secure good packages from average institutes while average students get low packages even from top colleges.

Also, if you are investing your entire energy and efforts in job hunting, you won’t be able to enjoy the process of studying for your favorite branch. If you aren’t planning to become an entrepreneur or go for higher studies, then you will have to focus on your CGPA to get placed with a decent package. That being said, a CGPA >=8 is considered decent by many companies at least for shortlisting in the written round. Your CGPA is not much of value if you have excellent coding skills. So look at the bigger picture and stop focusing on CGPA only!
