Which is better, IIT (BHU) Electronics, IIT Guwahati ECE, IIT Hyderabad Maths and Computing, or IIITH CSE?

AB

Rather than giving you a direct answer, I am going to evaluate all The aforementioned institutes individually on the basis of some common parameters like placements, brand name, campus life, opportunities, and alumni.

IIT BHU ECE

  • Core placements are rare and students mostly build their profile for software development companies by becoming proficient in various programming languages, doing competitive coding, doing projects, and trying to build a computer science-inclined profile. A handful of students target core engineering roles.
  • The brand value is similar to other colleges mentioned
  • The campus is rather old and might disappoint freshers expecting a good college life.

IIT Guwahati ECE

  • Unfortunately, I have no knowledge about this Institute. However, I recommend you contact the seniors of IIT Guwahati for the same.

IIT Hyderabad Maths and Computing

  • Usually, MNCs attract top-tier software and financial services firms. If you are a hardworking student, it wouldn’t be difficult to secure amazing offers at top firms.

IIIT Hyderabad CSE

  • IIIT H has possibly one of the best computer science departments in the country.
  • You have to do core computer science courses right from the first year.
  • Many students get selected for Google Summer of Code and IIIT Hyderabad has its alumni in top-notch firms.
  • Being highly academically oriented, IIIT Hyderabad has minimal campus life and extracurricular activities.

Ultimately, it’s a matter of preferences and what you are looking for in your degree.

I would suggest you choose Electrical Engineering at IIT BHU. Here are a few reasons why IIT BHU is a better choice for Electrical Engineering than IIT Hyderabad:

  • The electrical engineering department of IIT BHU was established in 1949, and it is one of the oldest in India. On the other hand, IIT Hyderabad was established in 2008. This gives the electrical engineering department of IIT BHU a much better industry reputation and a stronger alumni network.

What is the present internet speed in IIT BHU hostels?

NK
Nilesh Kumar Posted On : August 14th, 2020
B.Tech from Indian Institute of Technology Varanasi (2020)

The recent downloading speed is around 6 Mbps during the day as the traffic is very high. During the night the speed definitely increases but the increase is not that significant since people are awake at night too. When you are allotted your hostel rooms you will get an Ethernet cable. The speed might improve if you use the Ethernet instead of the wifi. In recent years a network with 1 Gbps bandwidth has been set up which resulted in good internet speed.

This might look very high speed to some people reading this answer, but actually this is a pretty normal speed considering its an IIT. IIT Roorkee has far better speed than this.

Who is the Mathurawasi of IIT BHU ?

SK
Sunil Kumar Posted On : August 13th, 2020
Studied at Indian Institute of Technology Varanasi

Actually this is not a permanent name, this can be given to anyone who belongs to Mathura. In the hostels of IIT Bhubaneswar, there is a culture of giving people nicknames and very few people may know the real name of their acquaintances. There may be many reasons for a nickname to get fame. Commonly it’s because the person with that nickname may have indulged in many activities and everyone got to know him by his nickname. Shubham Gupta is one of the students who was named Mathurawasi by his friends in Hostel on the very first day. The reason he got that nickname was that he came from a place near Mathura (Uttar Pradesh), although his hometown was Rajasthan. He used to be one of the most active members of DC++. And due to that reason, the nickname got famous. Mathurawasi is a very common nickname among the students of IIT BHU. Almost every other student from Mathura gets the nickname Mathurawasi.

If you are looking for placement in the non-core sector then it is very good, it is one of the branches with most placement in IIT BHU. Otherwise, if you want to work in core companies you have to take the GATE exam as there are not many core companies offering placement to Chemical Engineering students in IIT BHU. This year 104 students got placed in chemical engineering, mainly in software companies. You can also bag PPO if you do well in your internships.

Some of the companies that came for placements are CSRL, Nucleus Software, PDPU, Fidelity, Nineleaps, Sokrati (business analyst profile), FIITJEE, ET MEDIALABS, TechnipFMC, Onix Capital, CGI, EMERGY Enviro Pvt. Ltd, Tavant Technologies, Info Objects, Mirum, Praktice.ai, Biorasi LLC, Ambuja Cement, HPCL, GAIL, Air Liquide (only for chemical as trainee engineer), Prism Johnson Limited (only chemical and mining were allowed). What are the views of IIT-BHU students about Kashi Utkarsh?

NT
Nivedita Trivedi Posted On : July 17th, 2023
Lives in Varanasi

My friend is an alumnus of IIT-BHU and he was a member of the Kashi Utkarsh too. He claims the organization is doing really well in eradicating the prevalent social constraints through the collective efforts of the group. The body convinces the financially weak families living in Varanasi slums to send their children to schools with the help of KU funding.

As easy as this may sound, the actual process is very tiring. The families are hell-bent against education and persuading them is a big task. The relentless efforts of the team members of KU and their compassion to serve the weak have brought massive changes in society.

However, some students of the institute don’t give KU the respect they deserve and are not ready to spend a single penny claiming that KU pockets the funds themselves.

If you visit the social media handles of the KU members, you will find a list of children who get into the formal education system along with their school fees being paid by KU. Dictionary the constant assistance from professors like Prof. Ashim Mukherjee with KU helps KU stay strong.

What is the future after B.Tech in Pharmaceutical Engineering at IIT BHU?

TO
Tamalika Ojha Posted On : August 14th, 2020
M.Tech Biomedical Engineering Indian Institute of Technology Varanasi (2013)

Bachelor’s in pharmaceutical engineering at IIT-BHU is one of the most sought out degrees. There is a number of reasons to substantiate the above statement.
Firstly, IIT-BHU has been ranked 11 among top engineering colleges in India by NIRF 2020 ranking. This gives an upper-hand to the students passing out from here. The syllabus of Pharmaceutical Engineering incorporates the recent industry trends which keep the students updated with the industry requirement.
The placement cell is excellent and provides lucrative packages to the students. Top recruiters in the core sector include Dr. Reddy’s, Zydus, Matrix laboratories, Mylan, Sun-Pharma, etc. As pharmaceutical engineering is more research-oriented the starting packages in core placements are low as compared to the other sectors but it increases with experience.
Students can opt for non-core placements too, top non-core recruiters are Sony, IBM, Cognizant, TCS, Accenture, Wipro, Musigma, Evaluserve, and many more. Adding on to there is a wide scope of higher studies at foreign universities too.
