How are the girls' hostels in IIIT Allahabad? How are the facilities within it (bathrooms, dorms, etc.)?
You will find various opinions about the condition of the girl’s hostel in IIIT Allahabad. Following are some highlights of conditions faced by one of my friends who stayed there:
- The condition of the girl’s hostel is quite good, as compared to other institutes. There are instances of encounters with lizards in the washroom, which makes some students get very scared instantly.
- For fresher, there are double occupancy rooms in a separate hostel. On average, 3 washrooms and 3 bathrooms are provided for 12 girls in the hostel.
- There is a terrace on the first floor of the girl’s hostel. A common room for table tennis and gym equipment is provided too in the hostel.
- The washrooms are washed daily and corridors are mopped once in a while. So, it can be concluded that good cleanliness is maintained, though it depends a lot on the residents.
- Not just lizards, but also rats and insects are often seen in the hostel sometimes.
These are some of the facts known about the girl’s hostel in IIIT Allahabad. Overall, it is considered to be decent, with the problem of lizards and insects sometimes.
Which is better for ECE, NIT Surat, NIT Bhopal, or IIIT Allahabad?

- Do not depend on the caretaker if you need or to buy something, try to arrange it yourself.
Students are taught C language in the first semester so, you can proceed with and further learn C++ as well and master the languages. These are some things, knowing which might help you take the first step.
When are the vacations in iiit Allahabad?
I have some friends at IIIT Allahabad, so I can give you an idea about the vacations. During the four-month-long semester, IIIT Allahabad offers two vacations.
- One of these two vacations is a mid-semester break, which usually commences one and a half months after the starting of the semester. The mid-semester break is usually about 6-7 days long.
- At the end of semesters, there’s also an end semester break. End semester break is usually one month long for odd semesters and two and a half months for even semesters.

How good is business informatics in IIIT Allahabad (in terms of placement and curriculum), and what is its cutoff?
Business Informatics was chosen by one of my friends at IIIT Allahabad. So, I will be able to share some of his experiences. The course mainly focuses on business and technology domains. The faculty is very helpful and supportive and you feel like home here.
Placements:
- The branch was established in 2019 which is why there are currently no placement statistics.
- However, you can assume that they are almost the same as IT, because after all, it's an IT branch, and then BI as a specialisation.
- You don't need to worry about placements, because it's really a worthy discipline.
Cutoffs: If you are in the general category, the cut-off was approximately 7100 according to the last year. Perhaps this year also the cut-off will be similar due to low deviation. The Cut-off stats of 2020 of JEE Mains by NTA are as follows:

The institute’s course curriculum covers all subjects of the IT branch, plus one additional subject for BI. It will be quite difficult for you to cope up with all the subjects but if you work hard then it will be easier for you.
I am planning to join IIIT-Allahabad for an MS in cyber laws and security. What are the pros and cons of that decision?
There are several factors both supporting and opposing while joining IIIT Allahabad for MS in Cyberlaw and Security. There is no provision of admission in the Cyber Law and Security course, but you will be admitted as a master’s student. You will be given a chance to choose among several courses, for example, Robotics, Human-Computer Interaction, Software, etc.
The points below discuss some of the important factors regarding the course and its outcomes.
- Priority is given to students with higher CGPA in the 1st semester.
- It is advised that you should choose IIIT if placements are your only preference. Research facilities and faculty are lacking for this course at IIIT-A.
- There are famous professors like S.Venkat who are one of the most involved faculty but without a Ph.D. Another faculty, Dr. Maity is capable enough of guidance in research but there are rumors that he might leave the institute.
- If you are dedicated enough then you can publish your own research paper in journals, even before completion of the degree.
- Most of the students are just up for placements and you will find a less number of interested students in research.
- The placement is excellent for MS students in these subjects, even better than expected. There are students with very little programming knowledge but having a 15+ LPA job in hand. Even 20+ LPA offers are in good numbers.
Therefore, the main aspect that matters is the effort the candidate can devote. Overall, placements are amazing for MS students, but genuine research-interested candidates have a little scope in IIIT-A.
