Which is better, ISB Hyderabad or IIM Ahmedabad for 1 year executive MBA??

AB
Akriti Banerjee Posted On : September 15th, 2023
lives in New Delhi

ISB Hyderabad is certainly a better choice than IIM Ahmedabad for a 1 year MBA executive. It has better faculty, an international student profile, an amazing campus, and more than 800 students in a single batch. The admission process is also simpler than IIM Ahmedabad. ISB Hyderabad has a much more diverse crowd than IIM Ahmedabad which usually comprises CS-related people.

PGP-X at IIMA is its flagship program whereas the one-year program in ISB is their main program so it carries more value and more focus is given to that program.

IIM Ahmedabad too has its own perks one of them being its rich legacy of 50+ years and an excellent alumni enterprise spread across the globe. Also, since the batch is smaller the competition is less so the placement opportunities are more. Recruiters coming to hire PGP students also roll out lateral offers for PGP-X students.

Ultimately, choose the one that aligns with your personal preferences and future goals.

How good is Indraprastha College of DU in reality?

SS

Seeing hundreds of girls daily can be overwhelming if you attend a co-ed school. But you'll get used to it. Despite its proximity to North Campus, it is no less than an off-campus college. The typical North campus atmosphere is missing. However, Kamla Nagar and GTB Nagar are only a few minutes away by autorickshaw.

The college canteen is not that good. It's vegetarian, and the menu isn't particularly appealing. The chole kulche and chaats available outside the college are tasty. Rolls Club, located near the metro station, serves delicious Chilli chicken rolls.

The professors, like all other DU colleges, are uninvolved concerning what you do outside of class. However, keep your attendance above 40%, at all costs. There are no language restrictions. If you don't understand something in English, teachers are willing to teach you again in Hindi. Most professors, at least.

In a semester, each paper has only two exams. There are no class tests otherwise.

There is no AC, only fans. You can go to the library for AC during your free period. The library is phenomenal for a government college. It has three floors with a lift and an online system to determine where books are kept. There is an ICT lab with internet access.

You must make your own college life enjoyable. You will meet many incredible women who will inspire you with their grace, intelligence, courage, speaking abilities, and pure hearts.

Priyanka Roy Posted On : October 21st, 2021
S-MS from Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Kolkata (2020)

I have a few friends from IISER, and according to theM, life at IISER is quite interesting.

  • The academics at IISER is great. You can pursue anything that you are interested in.
  • The environment at the campus is great. It’s useful for research and other activities.
  • You will find many like-minded people on campus. You should not pick one but be a part of many and work together as a team player. At some point in your life, these skills would be required.
  • There are also a plethora of extracurricular activities that you can take part in.

You may face problems at the beginning that are quite common and will be a part of your learning curve.

Allahabad University offers many different subject combinations for BA. You will be allotted a preplanned subject combination based on your marks. You can’t choose the subjects one by one on your own. You will need to choose a combination of subjects clubbed together and prepared by the university.

Try to score more than 250 in the entrance test to get the desired combination and seat.

What should be the range of rank in the KVPY to secure admission in IISER?

AG
Aditya Guha Posted On : October 22nd, 2021
BS-MS from Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Bhopal (2020)

It’s not possible to answer this definitively as IISERs don’t make information regarding cut-off public. But entry to IISER through KVPY is easier compared to other gateways like the IISER Aptitude Test.

One of my friends was selected for KVPY SX in 2017. At the time of college choices, his options were Pune, Kolkata, TVM, Tirupati. He finally got IISER Kolkata.

According to him, if you get a KVPY fellowship, there is a good chance that you will get into an IISER. But going by the trends of the last few years, you will need a rank below 600, in order to get IISER Pune.

How do I prepare for the NIMHANS MCh neurosurgery entrance exam?

MG
Moinak Guha Posted On : October 6th, 2021
MBBS Medicine and Healthcare, Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences (2020)

According to the new updated pattern from 2018, there are separate papers for DM neurology, Mch Neurosurgery, and MD psychiatry courses.

The 70 marks paper continues. The questions are asked from all 19 subjects. The questions are asked randomly. The weightage of any subject is increased at any time. No fixed weightage from the subjects can be expected. Don’t leave out any topics from the 19 subjects. Each mark counts and can be the reason for selection and non-selection. Only 4 seats for DM and 4 for MCh.

For 30 marks separate papers-

Neurology: Neuro medicine is asked mainly. So it's important to read Harrison's neurology portion. You should have good concepts of Neurophysiology, neuropathology, CNS pharmacology, Neuro-ophthalmology, and a few neuroanatomia. Ketzung for CNS pharma part and CNS pathology from Robbins is recommended.

Neurosurgery: Mostly basic questions are asked. Good concepts of Neuroanatomy is a must. Snell and Neuro medicine from Harrison is equally important for neurosurgery. A head injury from Bailey/ Sabiston is recommended.

Psychiatry: Kaplan and Saddok is a standard book. Cover Schizophrenia and depression topics from it with the psychological examination. Praveen Tripathi's psychiatry reference book as a whole is helpful. Understand concepts well. Watch Caplan videos on behavioral science for a good understanding.

Follow crash courses from DAMS, DBMCI, and Positive classes. You can also join the Telegram channel for NIMHANS preparation.

Does DTU provide Lateral  Entry?

AR
Anurag Rao Posted On : August 14th, 2020
B.Tech. in Environmental Engineering & Civil Services of India, Delhi Technological University (Graduated 2020)

Yes, DTU provides lateral entry. DTU LEET (Delhi Technological University Lateral Entry Engineering Test) is conducted by the college through which students can get direct admission in the third semester of BTech programs. DTU provides 14 courses for BTech admission. Only those candidates who have completed a Diploma in Engineering can apply for it.

Admission is given on the basis of a 2-hour written exam conducted by the college and a merit list is prepared on the basis of the examination scores. The advantage that the late entrants have over others is that they don’t have to qualify through appearing in JEE Main or any other competitive exam.

The courses available under the program are Polymer Science and Chemical Technology, Mathematics and Computing, Engineering Physics, Biotechnology, Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, and many more.

The syllabus for DTU LEET is released by the college every year on their website. One of the things to be concerned about here is that it’s not guaranteed that you would be able to get the same branch which you had in your diploma as it depends on the number of seats available for a specific course. So, there are students who get admission through lateral entry but end up opting for a branch totally different from what they studied in their diploma, so it’s for you to decide whether you want to choose this option or not.

Should I join the new IIITs like IIIT Guwahati?

SA
Saksham Agrawal Posted On : March 24th, 2021
Lives in Gurugram, Haryana, India

IIIT Guwahati seems to be a good option but one must have heard that “All that glitter is not gold”. There are many colleges having people who completed their PhD from IIT. Doing a PhD from an IIT doesn’t make that person a competitive teacher.

Many of them may have acumen but lack teaching abilities. Very few of them are capable. The course structure is a plus point but still one should not join IIIT Guwahati. It is still not well established plus the factor that makes a college good or bad is the quality of students entering them, and its doubt that the student finds a quality bunch of students there.

The table shows a brief overview of the institution:

Particulars

IIIT Guwahati

Median Salary

Rs. 5.5 lakhs

Highest Salary

Rs. 17 lakhs

Entrance Criteria

JEE Main

Fees

Rs. 9.05 lakhs

If you have a good rank in JEE Main then you can get IT at some of the good NITs. Otherwise, the you have a good chance of getting CSE in the new IITs, and both the options are far better than joining IIIT Guwahati.
