KLE Technological University, formerly known as Bhoomaraddi College of Engineering & Technology is a private university recognized by UGC and AICTE. The University is affiliated with the Technical University of Visvesvaraya and is ranked 136 for BTech by NIRF 2020.

Admission:

• For admission into B.E ECE, students must pass 10+2 with PCM as compulsory subjects and must appear for KCET/MH-CET/COMEDK/ JEE entrance exam.

• The recruited cutoff for BE ECE at KLE Tech is around 7640 (KCET) according to the recent year’s statistics.

• 1st-year fees for the B.E ECE program at KLE Tech is 15,000(INR).

Course Curriculum

The B.E in ECE is divided into 4 years or 8 semesters.

• The first year emphasizes basic engineering such as Engineering Mechanics, Engineering Physics, Basic Electronics, and more.

• Second-year inches closer to electronics and electronic lab practicals.

• The third-year includes subjects like Digital Communications, Machine Learning along with one elective subject. Students are required to undergo one Mini & Minor Project in the 5th and 6th semesters respectively.

• In the last year, students are required to do an internship and undergo a project under a given supervisor.

Placement: About 90% of the students were placed as revealed by last year’s placement statistics. The major recruiters were Sap Labs, Toshiba, Cypress, Rober Bosch, KPIT, Continental, etc.

From the 2019 and 2018 batch of ECE, 210 and 123 students were placed respectively.

• TedXKLETech 2019- KLE Tech collaborated with Tedx to hear the ups and downs, the inside and out, to hear the success tales.

• KLE Tech’s aeroKLE’s SAE Team has secured All India 1st Rank in SAEISS Aero Design Challenge for the second time in a row.

• KLE Tech collaborated with Robert Bosch for project work in the field of Automotive & Autonomous vehicles.

The B.E in ECE at KLE Technological University is quite good with a decent placement rate.

IIT Gandhinagar ranks 30th in the engineering department by NIRF 2019. Electrical Engineering is a part of core engineering. To be eligible for admission, a student will require 75% marks in their 10+2 and a valid JEE score. It is a 4-year course with fees of 2,58,500 a year.

BTech in Electrical engineering from IIT Bhubaneswar will cost a student 2,13,568 a year. The JEE cut off rank of Electrical Engineering is 2276-7542. In 2019, the placement percentage of IIT Bhubaneswar Electrical Engineering is 86%. The highest salary package offered is 39 lakhs per annum and the average salary package is 11 lakhs per annum. The top recruiters include L&T, Tata Power, Tata Steel, Tata Motors, Texas Instruments, Hindalco Industries, etc.

So, IIT Bhubaneswar will be better for Electrical Engineering because IIT Bhubaneswar has better facilities, Faculty, Location, Placement Percentage, etc.

GRIET (Gokaraju Rangaraju Institute of Engineering & Technology) and MVSR (Maturi Venkata Subba Rao Engineering College) both these institutes are good for ECE. NIRF 2020 has ranked GRIET and MVSR at 172 and 251 for BTech.

Admissions:

GRIET -

• 70% of the seats in B.Tech are allotted on merit basis.

• Admission is given to ECE branch on the basis of score in the common entrance test (EAMCET).

• In 2019 the closing cutoff for ECE was 2231.

MVSR - In both the colleges, admission to UG programmes are given on the basis of EAMCET ranking.

• 70% of the seats are reserved for EAMCET examination under ‘A’ category while 30% for management candidates under ‘B’ category.

• The closing EAMCET 2019 cutoff for ECE was 3731.

Faculty: The faculties for ECE at both the institute are well-qualified and have years of experience. GRIET ECE has 15 faculties who hold a PhD while the 6 faculties at MVSR ECE department also have doctorate degrees.

Facilities:

GRIET -

• The ECE departmental laboratory of GRIET is equipped with the best instruments and receives AICTE grants.

• GRIET also provides the students with facilities like library, water plant, solar water plant, canteen, classrooms and sports area.

MVSR –

• At MVSR, the ECE department has a laboratory with 4 MODROBS projects sanctioned by AICTE.

• MVSR Campus has various facilities for the students like library, sports, dispensary, canteen, bank, hostel, computing centre, yoga centre and transportation.

Placements:

GRIET -

• In session 2017-18, 253 students of GRIET ECE were placed in companies like Amazon, Capgemini, Deloitte, Infosys, Wipro and TCS.

• The average CTC received by GRIET ECE students is 5.05 lakhs.

MVSR -

• At MVSR, ECE 180 students got placement in companies like Hyundai, Capgemini, Cyient, IBM, Modak Analytics and many more.

• At MVRS ECE, the highest salary package offered to the student was found to be 6 lakh.

Apart from academics, both the institute organizes many events around the academic year. At GRIET, ECE department many events are organised like FDP, webinars, android app development workshops, etc. MVSR ECE has organised events like workshops on water resource systems modelling, FDP on refrigeration & automobile air-conditioning and MIRACLE – 2019.

Both the colleges are good at infrastructure and academics. But GRIET excels in providing one of the best placement opportunities to the students.

Both Shiv Nadar University and PES University have evolved to be renowned universities in terms of the quality of education that they offer. Shiv Nadar University has ranked 3rd among the top 50 private state universities in India by Outlook India. It was also ranked 77th by NIRF in 2019. PES University ranked 6th among the top 50 private State Universities in India in 2019 by Outlook India.

Admission:

Shiv Nadar University- The admission to BTech Electronics and Communication Engineering and Computer Science and Engineering is through JEE Main.

The total course fee is 10.65 lakhs.

PES University- Admission to BTech Electronics and Communication Engineering is through KCET, PESSAT.

The BTech program costs around 13.21 lakhs.

Placement:

Shiv Nadar University- According to the latest reports, around 93% of Shiv Nadar University students get placed every year by several companies.

• The top recruiters are Google, Amex, L & T, Goldman Sachs, IBM, HCL, Coca-cola, and more.

• The highest salary package remains somewhere around 31.5 Lakh. The average and lowest packages that are usually offered remain to be around 7.5 Lakh and 4.5 Lakh.

PES university-

• Students receive several internships and job opportunities from companies like Robert Bosch Eng. & Business Sols, Sapient, Mu Sigma, L & T Tech Services LTD, Genpact, Tata Elxsi, Deloitte, Cisco, Capgemini, Wipro, Atos and more.

• The highest and the medium salary package for the students remain to be around 48 LPA and 6.8 LPA.

• More than 90% of students get placed every year from different departments.

Faculty: As far as the quality of faculty is concerned, both the universities offer the best. All the faculty members are well qualified and some of them have previously taught in prestigious institutions like IITs and NITs.

The ranking for JUET and Manipal, Jaipur by NIRF is 86 and 151. However, choosing the best course in a specific college depends upon your level of interest, eligibility, cut-off rank, placement cell, etc.

Admissions and Fee: Both colleges offer BTech courses for CSE and ECE.

• The eligibility for the courses is the same, i.e, 10+2 with 75% and JEE Mains.

• The cut-off for the ECE course in Manipal, Jaipur college is 6843. But there is no specific cut-off for JUET CSE.

• The fee is a bit higher for Manipal college than the JUET, Guna. The annual course fee at Manipal is 3.19 lakhs, while the same at JUET is 2.04 lakhs.

Placements:

JUET-

• The highest salary of JUET is 41 LPA while the average salary received by the students is 3.5 LPA.

• Several companies are visiting the JUET campus. Out of which, few of them are Amazon, Google, TCS, HCL, One Direct, Trident, Tata Consultancy, Infosys, Geeks for Geeks, Interview Bit, Central Research Laboratory, and many more.

Manipal Jaipur-

• The top companies visiting the Manipal, Jaipur college are Dell, Amazon, Accenture, Cult Fit, HDFC Bank, Wipro, Philips, ABB, Shell Technologies, and many more.

• The ECE placement rate of this college is 90%.

• And the highest and lowest salaries of the college are 42 LPA and 5.4 LPA.

• The scope for both the scores at these colleges is too high.

It is difficult to compare two different institutes for two different courses. As a course, CSE has better opportunities than ECE. However, you should choose the course you are more interested in and the institute according to that.

The Electronic and Telecommunication (ETC) department of IIEST, Shibpur is held in high regard in India. Having my friend study there, I got to know the good and bad of the ETC department at IIEST Shibpur. These are some of the things I got to know from her - 

• The faculty of the Electronic and Telecommunication (ETC) department is occupied entirely by the highly qualified professors who hold Doctorates from supremely reputed universities.
• Besides students being under great educational expertise, the placement rates of this department is seen to cross 90%, which certainly appears to be pretty commendable in terms of industrial independence. 
• IIEST is widely known to be a Pioneer in Engineering education for the last few decades and has been the first to establish an IIT in India at Kharagpur. 
• Besides being one of the best institutes for engineering, IIEST has gifted many World Leaders in Electronics, such as Dr. Bimal Kr. Bose who also is "World Leader in Power Electronics" in the USA. 
• IIEST Shibpur has gifted Four Directors of the oldest leading IITs, Director of SPA /DTU / VCs of JU / SRMU/ WBUT among others. Not to forget, the current Directors of IIT Kanpur and IIT Guwahati are its alumni. Recently Dr. Ajay Roy alumnus from ETC Department was conferred "Padma Shri" by the Govt. of India for his contribution to Engineering Education.

From the facts mentioned above and many more, it is absolutely clear that the ETC department of the IIEST Shibpur is definitely one of those departments which stands out from the crowd and hence is one of the most unique in the country.

In addition to this, there are various students who have got many opportunities in numerous internship programs from leading companies and institutions from in and out of INDIA.

Besides, as a matter of judgement, IIEST can be based on the Higher cut offs that can range anything from between 4,000 to 17,000 as is concerned of the home state.

PES University is a private university and has been recognized by AIU, AICTE, and UGC. The college is ranked 93rd by NIRF for its B.Tech courses.

Admission Procedure: The college offers B.Tech in Electronics and Computer Engineering as a 4-year course and the fees for the same is 13.21 lakhs for the full period.

• Students seeking admission to ECE at PES must have scored 60% in their 10+2 examinations in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

• Eligible candidates are then selected on the basis of their scores in KCET (only for domicile students of Karnataka) or PESSAT, the common entrance examination of the college.

• The college offers 360 seats for ECE.

Facilities:

The college is built over a large 25-acre campus. It is home to a handy library with a collection of e-journals, coursebooks, and e-books. The college has in-campus hostels for both boys and girls. The campus also has various sporting facilities such as cricket, football, and basketball. The college has a number of laboratories including ones dedicated to ECE. A number of other facilities such as cafeterias, a gym, medical facilities, and auditoriums are also available.

Placements:

CSE has an extremely high placement rate of 85%.

• Top recruiters for the course include Microsoft, Cisco, TCS, Deloitte, and Accenture.

• The average package offered for ECE students is 6 LPA while the highest package goes up to 48 LPA.

PES is well-known for its Bachelors in Technology courses which clearly reflects in its NIRF ranking.
