How was your first day at IIM Indore IPM?

VP
Vedika Pandey Posted On : January 12th, 2023
Studied Integrated Programme in Management, IIM Indore (Graduated 2022)

Here is the experience of one of the IPM students of IIM Indore.

She completed some paperwork and a brief registration process as soon as she arrived at the campus and Hostel Reception Center, after which she was given her temporary identity card, room key, etc. She also completed the course registration and other paperwork later that day.

The following two days of Induction were when the real action began.

On the second day, she and her friends hurried to the auditorium after hearing an introduction to the faculty, information about IGNOU, and the format of the IPM course. The remaining three days of the induction passed slowly. Despite the fact that students were involved and there were actual activities.

You are prepared for life at IIM, which is tedious and enjoyable but irregularly busy, during the 7-hour continuous induction.

What will be the future prospects after an IPM in IIM Jammu?

CV
Chanchal Verma Posted On : January 2nd, 2023
Studied at Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad

The future prospects for an IIM Jammu pass-out who has pursued IPM or the Integrated Program in Management are similar to the prospects of any IIM pass-out. This is because IIM is a brand image and the age of the institute does not matter much. What matters is your willingness to pursue a management career.

IIM Jammu launched its 5-year Integrated Programme in Management (IPM) in 2021 and this will be the third batch that will get admission in 2023. As of now, no batch has passed out yet so it’s difficult to ascertain its worth. But for reference, I have tabulated the stats for PGP students

Particulars

Statistics

Number of participants

217

Number of offers

222

Highest Package

INR 32 LPA

Average Package

INR 13.53 LPA

Median Package

INR 11.4 LPA

Number of Companies visited

119

As you can see a decent placement record is witnessed here and many major companies like Accenture and Amazon visit the campus.

Some facts about the IPM course here are

  • There is a mandatory credit course on “Happiness” during the 1st year of the program.
  • certificates of qualification are provided after every year of completion.
  • They will also provide physical books unlike IIM Rohtak.
  • There is a boot camp at the end of 1st year in Ladakh.

So we can say that the IPM course is not yet properly established but will definitely be in a few years.

Is it better to study B.Com from an average DU college like Shyam Lal, or Sri Aurobindo (Evening), or study for a BBA in IB from Amity University?

AM
Amit Mitra Posted On : November 3rd, 2021
UG Bachelor of Commerce Degrees, University of Delhi

It’s better to prefer DU regular colleges given the choice. Course-wise, choosing B.Com over BBA is better, unless you are particularly interested in doing BBA. Here are some of the reasons why you should choose DU for your degree.

  • Other colleges charge reasonably higher tuition fees compared to DU, especially for courses like BBA.
  • If you are taking admission to a regular DU college try to engage in different activities. Join societies, clubs, etc. It will help you in the long run.
  • In DU colleges, you will get enough time to do internships for work experiences. This will definitely look better on your CV.
  • If you are a graduate from DU, then you will get certain advantages over Non-DU candidates, in job interviews.
  • If you want to study CA, CS, etc. along with your degree, then it is better to do a B.Com. Since the B.Com syllabus will have more subjects related to CA, CS, CWA, etc. You can also easily prepare for other competitive exams, without your college timing being an issue.

Considering all these factors, doing B.Com from a regular DU college will be better than doing BBA from Amity University.

PS
Pinki Singh Posted On : August 24th, 2021
Studied at IIM Indore (2019)

This is a question which is difficult to answer. But let me share my friend’s experience which might give you a clear idea.

I can say only about his coaching center which was TIME CP center. According to the placement report of the IIM Indore for the year 2021, there were 107 IPM students in the latest pass-out batch of 2016-21. His center had around 30-40 students preparing for IPM at IIM Indore and of those only 1 got selected.

He was an IPM at IIM Indore aspirant. But the composite score cut-off in the year 2018 was 50.75 and he was way below it.

What has more value, an IPM from IIM Indore or a BBA from some reputed college and then an MBA from some top IIM?

FS
Farah Shah Posted On : January 12th, 2023
Studies Integrated Programme in Management, IIM Indore (Expected 2024)

First, keep in mind that you're looking for a program that will help you develop your entire personality while also giving you access to cutting-edge amenities and facilities and an assured MBA from one of the best B schools in the nation. The IPM course offered by IIM Indore is ideal for you if this is what you're looking for.

If, however, you are solely interested in a BBA program and are confident that you can enter IIM ABC after BBA despite the competition from roughly 2 lakh engineers, then go for it.

However, if you choose to do so, you also have the choice to leave the IPM after receiving your undergraduate degree and enroll in a better business school to complete your MBA. Therefore, if you must choose between the two, it is advised that you go with the first because it will give you better exposure, a more competitive environment, better amenities, and a rare opportunity to graduate from an IIM that is among the top 5 in the nation.

IPM is a 5 years integrated program launched by IIM Indore. It is the first of its kind in India. It is especially for students with potential in management and leadership. The eligibility criteria for the program is class 12th in CBSE or equivalent boards.

  • In the first 3 years, a foundation is laid properly and the last 2 years are left for management only. A lot of students opt for the institute’s 2-year post-graduate program in Management.
  • The syllabus and the wide exposure help the students at IPM for different leadership roles. Apart from the rigorous academics, IPM students participate in various extracurricular activities.
  • As an IPM student, you will have to complete a social internship by the 3rd year. Apart from the social internship IPM students also do a business internship in their 4th and 5th years to increase their practical knowledge.

Hope this clears your doubts about the IPM program.

Which course is the closest alternative to IPM IIM Indore?

SS
Shreya Seth Posted On : August 20th, 2021
Studies Post Graduate Programme (PGP) at IIM Indore (2021)

The IPM program at IIM Indore primarily focuses on students who complete their higher secondary. The program is similar to pursuing a 3 year BBA course, or graduating in Economics and moving on to MBA.

Here are some points you might want to take into account before deciding on IPM.

  • Following the completion of your BBA degree from one of the top 10 institutes, you might want to choose to go for an MBA via CAT, XAT, XAT, GMAT, or others. In graduation, you will definitely have an edge over the students of IPM. But having the IIM tag definitely offers some advantages.
  • However, if you become eligible to enroll at one of the major top 10 B-schools in India following the completion of BBA, then you will have an upper hand nonetheless. In this case, you will not regret the decision of not pursuing IPM.
  • One of the most essential topics to discuss is the fee structure. IPM, by far, costs students over 30 Lakhs.

However, if you still go on to choose IIM, then the brand value it offers, can undeniably be beneficial over several other engineering students because of the diversity rule of IIMs. So, for the IPM program, if you are getting it. Otherwise, you can choose to do an MBA after your graduation too.
