Where are you placed after getting an M.Tech degree from IIT Bombay?
You may find inspiration in the story of a student who completed his MTech from IIT Bombay and landed a job in one of the biggest companies, NVIDIA. During his graduation, he was often found at the back of the class and only attended for the sake of attendance. No one considered him as a competition when it came to technical discussions and programming.

He secured AIR 172 in GATE 2017, earning himself direct admission into IIT Bombay without any quota or reservation.

What should I prepare for: IAS or IES?
You should prepare for IES. This will be a shock to you since most people will suggest the same. Here’s why –
- It is easier to qualify for IES when compared to IAS. There’s more chance of qualifying it even in the first attempt. Whereas, there are many students who are brilliant and hardworking that aren’t able to qualify for IAS. It requires more patience.
- IES syllabus is very close to the engineering syllabus, making it easier to grasp and understand.
- You don’t need to have excellent writing skills or sharp memory to have an edge over other competitors.
- Even if you fail in IES, there still will be an option to give GATE and get into PSUs. With IAS, there is no backup plan if you fail to qualify.
- When you are preparing for IES you are basically preparing an optional subject for IAS as well. So in future, if you want to prepare for IAS you will have an optional subject ready along with a job.
You have a choice between good with a high probability of selection and better with a low probability of selection. So going for the option that has the maximum probability of selection along with a backup plan in case of a failure is a better choice.
Which is better, NIT Silchar, NIT Agartala, or NIT Mizoram?
NIT Silchar is a far better option than both NIT Agartala and NIT Mizoram. There are a number of strong reasons that support my claim I have listed the most important ones
- Nit Silchar has an excellent placement scenario for all branches. NIT Silchar average package stood at INR 13.58 LPA, NIT Agartala median package stood at INR 7 LPA, and NIT Mizoram median package 2021 stood at INR 6.80 LPA. So NIT Silchar definitely has much better placements than the other two colleges.
- NIT Mizoram BTech was ranked 88 out of 170 in India 2023, NIT Agartala BTech ranking is 91 out of 200 in India 2023 while NIT Silchar BTech ranking is 40 out of 200 in India. The drastic difference in rankings proves that NIT Silchar is way ahead of than other two NITs.
- The rate of development is very high in NIT Silchar in every sector.
- The campus of NIT Silchar is beautiful and huge, spreading across 600+ acres. It has a better campus and infrastructure than the other two NITs.
So, it’s advisable to give preference to NIT Silchar over NIT Agartala and NIT Mizoram due to the above reasons.
How is the hostel life of IIT Delhi?
The hostel life of IIT Delhi is one filled with freedom and fun. The hostel never sleeps with the midnight canteen running till 3 in the morning. People spend their time in hostels differently depending on their nature
- Some are holed up in their rooms for entire days
- Some form a group of studious people always discussing nothing but studies
- Some can be seen playing football, partying, and enjoying their time to the fullest
- Some are addicted to games and spend their nights' gaming
The quality of hostel life depends on who you are and varies dramatically from person to person.
Is SRCC GBO worth joining?
One of my friends studied GBO at SRCC. The course started with an inclination towards international management.
- SRCC GBO is one of the finest courses in India. Considering ROI, learning curve, brand image, and opportunities available it is top notch.
- If you are willing to study business and get a corporate job or start a business of your own then it is the perfect course.
- SRCC GBO provides you the best faculty when it comes to academics.
- SRCC GBO gives you the proper corporate exposure. These are done through webinars, corporate guest lectures, workshops, alumni sessions, industrial visits, and internship opportunities.
- Students with an overall good academic performance get a job offer from a reputed company with an average salary package of INR 10-12 LPA.
Therefore, it is recommended that GBO at SRCC is worth joining and has good future prospects.
Which is better, new IITs or BITS Hyderabad and Goa?
There are several parameters on which one can compare BITS Hyderabad/Goa with the new IITs. Some of them are-
- Infrastructure- BITS have a much better infrastructure as compared to the new IITs. Moreover, at BITS, one gets single occupancy hostel rooms from the first year itself.
- Education- In terms of education, all the IITs, NITs and BITs are mostly at par with one another. But BITS doesn’t have an attendance criteria, unlike the IITs. This comes as a relief, especially if one is preparing for some entrance exams on the side.
- Brand Name- BITS Pilani is as big a brand as the old IITs, and BITS Hyderabad/Goa are comparable in that sense to the new IITs.
- Placements- BITS Hyderabad/Goa are slightly better at overall placements, but the scenario is better for core jobs at new IITs.
- Campus life- The campus life and senior-junior interaction is again better at BITS campuses.
The decision is yours, but you won’t regret choosing any of these colleges.
How's the business analytics program at NMIMS Mumbai?
If you are interested in pursuing an Executive Education program in MBA with a specialty in Business Analytics, there are multiple options to consider. The business analytics program from NMIMS is one such option, which is provided in collaboration with UpGrad.

One of my close friends attended NIET and here is his take on the institute.
- The main recruiter on campus is TCS. You will be able to apply for the company no matter which branch you belong to. Apart from TCS, MNCs that visit the campus are UHG, Capgemini, etc. for CS/IT students. There will also be a few other companies based on your branch.
- Maximum recruiting companies hire students in sales, marketing, business analyst job roles.
- There are no placements for the Civil branch. The faculties are not that experienced either.
- NIET advertises about their good placement records, but if you go through the placement list you will find that most of the placements at the institute are in sales profile.
- The institute claims that the Indian Army and Indian Navy visit the placement drive every year. But in his 4-year duration of the course, my friend didn’t witness anyone getting recruited by them.
- The infrastructure of the college is also not that good. WiFi is not that useful, you have to use VPN to open common sites like youtube.
- There is no fest, and little to no exposure.
According to my friends, it will be better if you don’t consider NIET as an option, rather go for other alternatives if you have them.
How are the placements at IIIT Vadodara?
If you are a BTech student at IIIT Vadodara, you may be interested to know about the placement statistics of the institute. Here is what you need to know:
- The placement drive for the academic year 2022-23 is currently ongoing for BTech students.
- According to the official website of IIIT Vadodara, the highest package offered to BTech students so far is INR 41 LPA, while the median package stands at INR 13.5 LPA.
- The average package for BTech students at IIIT Vadodara is INR 15.73 LPA, and the lowest package offered is INR 6 LPA.
- 72 companies participated in the placement process for BTech students at IIIT Vadodara, which is a significant number.
- More than 90% of the BTech students at IIIT Vadodara have been placed in recruiting companies, which is a good placement rate.
- In the past three years, the placement rate for BTech courses at IIIT Vadodara has been fluctuating, with some ups and downs.
- However, there has been consistent growth in the participation of companies in the placement process over the years. The number of companies doubled from 2019 to 2020, and there was a 41% increase in the number of participating companies from 2021 to 2022.
Overall, IIIT Vadodara seems to have a good placement record for its BTech students, with a high placement rate and some notable offers from companies. However, it is always important to keep in mind that placement statistics can vary from year to year and may not be a guarantee of individual success in the job market.
How is life at JNU for MA students? Is it only hectic or do students have fun too?
My friend pursued his M.A. from JNU and according to him, he spent the best years of his life at JNU. He went to many well-renowned colleges and universities in the USA, however, JNU is unparalleled. At JNU, you will learn even when you are having fun.
Female students feel safe on campus. Male students are respectful towards their female counterparts. There are no whistles or cat-calling incidents on campus. Females can walk fearlessly from one end of the campus to the other, even at midnight.
Life for M.A. students is very hectic at JNU. It is more challenging than one can expect. If you do not maintain a healthy work-life balance, you will end up spending all your time sitting in a corner with your laptop and books. Even your group discussions will end up being solely about studies.
If you feel that it will be difficult for you to create a healthy balance between studies and enjoyment, you can join JNU as a Ph.D. student rather than as an M.A. student, you will then get more time to enjoy and experience life at JNU.
