Is it advisable to go for a new IIM like IIM Jammu and do MBA? It is being mentored by IIM Lucknow so will placement be also mentored by them?

SS
Shivam Singh Posted On : February 13th, 2024
Studied at IIM Jammu

IIM Lucknow mentors IIM Jammu with respect to faculty, curriculum and pedagogy. IIM Jammu and IIM Lucknow have almost the same teachers, barring a few. Moreover, the pedagogy and curriculum of both these colleges is the same. But IIM Lucknow does not extend its mentorship in case of IIM Jammu placements.

The crowd of new IIMs is really good. The students from IIM Jammu are tough opponents for IIM A B C students in various competitions. IIM Jammu has a student exchange program that offers meritorious students to complete a trimester at a European university. The placements of IIM Jammu are equal to other baby IIMs.

IIM Jammu carries the prestigious ‘IIM’ tag which has a high value in the industry. I would recommend you join IIM Jammu for your MBA.

National Institute of Construction Management and Research, Pune

Post Graduate Program in Advanced Construction Management is a course specifically designed for civil engineers and architects. Both technical studies and management studies are combined to create this course. This is the finest course to take if you want to study construction management. The course's scope is wider, which means you can pursue numerous career profiles such as site execution and control, planning, health, safety, and the environment, valuation and estimating, and so on.

The course is multi-disciplinary combining aspects of civil engineering, general management, and construction project management.

The duration of the course is 21 months, having 7 trimesters of 3 months each. The 4th trimester is kept for summer internship and exams are held every 3 months.

The eligibility for the course is having a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Architecture with a minimum of 50% degree.

The admission consists of 4 steps:

  • NICMAR Common Admission Test: 150 marks
  • GD: 20 marks
  • Personal Interview: 30 marks
  • Rating of Application: 50 marks

There is an admission for sponsored category too. First, you need to go through the admission test and pay 50% fees higher than the tuition fees. However, sponsored students are not provided with any placement assistance.

The institute assures 100% placement assistance but the compensation depends on your performance.

Overall the course is good but still, I would suggest you first go for 2 years experience in the field and then go for the course.

Should I join IIT Delhi chemical or top NIT CSE?

SG
Sushmita Gupta Posted On : April 1st, 2023
studied at Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi

Yes, irrespective of the branch, choosing IIT Delhi will always prove to be beneficial for you. IIT Delhi has ties with many big firms that visit the campus for placements and offer great packages irrespective of your branch. One needs to be proficient in DSA and other computer science core subjects such as OOPS, OS, DBMS, and Computer Networks. A good grasp of these will fetch you a high-paying job no matter which branch you belong to in IIT Delhi.

Although most companies that visit IIT Delhi also visit NIT, your IIT tag will always fetch you extra benefits and no one can deny that. For instance, the same role offered to an IITiand will have more salary than that offered to a non-IITian.You can easily switch roles and fields given the brand name of the institute you are associated with. IITians even have more opportunities for higher studies in Foreign countries than non-IITians.

IITians especially from Mumbai or Delhi are always given preference over non-IITians hence it is advisable to go for IIT Delhi in any branch.

How is the life of medicine PG in AIIMS Delhi? Is this the best for MD medicine?

SN
Shivam Negi Posted On : May 30th, 2023
MD Medicine at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi

The exact word to describe the life of a PG student in AIIMS Delhi is ‘hectic’. The MD Medicine program is quite challenging and tiring. A typical day in the life of a first-semester resident doing Medicine at AIIMS can be described as follows-

  • You will have to wake up as early as 6:30 am and reach for work by 7. Managing to have your breakfast is a great achievement.
  • You will have to reach your war and start sampling assigned by your seniors before 10 AM as no samples are accepted after 10.
  • Next, you will start preparing for the clinical rounds and go through files and reports and be ready to present them to the consultant during rounds. These rounds are very tiring and sometimes extend till the afternoon. However, it's from these rounds that you will be gaining hands-on experience and learning new things every day
  • Once the rounds end, you'll have to do tasks related to what you learned from the rounds. This may involve doing a bone marrow/ lumbar puncture/ pleural tap etc or fetching some reports.
  • In the evening you will be going through the morning reports and discussing and planning the future plan for your patient. During this, you have to write notes in the clinical files.
  • After this, it will be dinner time that marks the end of your work routine.

Additionally, there will be OPDs every third day, and Radio-conferences, clinical case discussion classes, Journal clubs, etc. Once you become a senior, things will be easier and you will have more time to study and involve yourself in academic activities.

Coming to your second question, well AIIMS Medicine is considered the best in the whole of India. What makes it the best is its extremely qualified faculty, genius seniors, and excellent infrastructure. The institute mostly deals with diagnostic dilemmas referred from everywhere and this offers a fun and fulfilling experience to students in taking their case to a diagnosis.

The real-time experience you will be getting just in the first year is undoubtedly the best one could ask for. Another major highlight of AIIMS is its diagnostics. You can get almost any investigation/ radiological procedure to back up your diagnosis.

Overall, as an MD student at AIIMS, you will surely experience a hectic life but the gratitude of your patients will leave you with a feeling of satisfaction.

Which one is the best AIIMS or CMC Vellore for an MBBS?

AB
Akriti Banerjee Posted On : September 21st, 2023
lives in New Delhi

One of my friends was in a similar dilemma. He considered the following points while making his decision

  1. Most AIIMS undergraduates settle in the US or pursue higher education in top colleges in India while CMC graduates prefer CMC for their higher education only.
  2. Students of CMC are required to do bonds in mission hospitals so their higher education gets delayed. But this instills in them a strong sense of community-oriented healthcare. They tend to work in remote places of India without any personal glory. An AIIMS student can hardly be seen doing community service.
  3. AIIMS graduates publish more when compared to CMC graduates.
  4. CMC students get better hands-on experience and hence fare better in terms of clinical and Surgical skills. Right from the second year, they start assisting postgraduates in clinical work.
  5. If you are a non-Christian, it will be difficult to go through the entire training without a mission hospital

Ultimately, make a choice based on your demographics, preferences, and goals in life.

Should I do an online BSc data science and programming course from IIT Madras? Will I get placement after it?

AB
Akriti Banerjee Posted On : July 12th, 2023

My friend has enrolled himself for B.Sc. Data Science and Programming course from IIT M. He carefully accessed the course curriculum.

According to him, the course requires at least 4 to 6 hours of study each day.

One can not simply study it on the weekends and cope up. My friend has a tight working schedule, and therefore, he is considering leaving this course.

But if you can devote time for the course each day, then this course will definitely benefit you. The placement statistics are not very clear but the curriculum is rigorous and so you will learn new skills that will come handy during job search.

Is CSE at IIT Bombay overrated?

PG
Pratik Gandhi Posted On : March 23rd, 2023
B.Tech. CSE, IIT Bombay

IIT Bombay’s rankings are a testament to its credibility and worth in the technology industry. Most JEE toppers consider IIT Bombay as their first preference. This is because IIT Bombay excels in almost all X aspects of B8 placements, faculty, or exposure.

During the placement season companies from a wide range of sectors visit the campus. However, there are some dark facts behind these placement drives. I came to know of these realities through true friends and pass outs of the institute.

One cannot deny the fact that IIT Bombay has witnessed an increase in demand due to the strong influence it has. It is sad to say but many coaching centers run by alumni of IIT Bombay promote the institute. When engineering aspirants contact the alumni for counseling and advice, most of them portray IIT Bombay as the best choice leading to a more influential decision.

What I ultimately mean is that IIT Bombay is definitely the best choice when it comes to engineering. But the fact that no other college is as good as IIT Bombay is also not true.

Has anyone regretted after joining XLRI HRM?

GS
Gaurav Sharma Posted On : May 20th, 2023
studied at Xavier School of Management

I talked to a cousin who was planning his higher studies and he told me that when he started planning his career, he prioritized 2 things. He will pursue what he is good at and will do what he actually likes doing.

After considerable anticipation, he decided to pursue HR and shared his experience so far. To date, he is glad he decided to take up HR and has no regrets whatsoever. In fact, he had temporarily joined a software job which confirmed his lack of interest in that field.

He chose HR over BM despite knowing job opportunities for BM are better than HR. What kept him going was his initial decision of sticking to what he loved.

As his journey commenced, he started creating memories in Jamshedpur, making new friends, having wonderful experiences, and taking part in both co-curricular and extra-curricular stuff. After some nervousness in placements, today he has successfully completed a year in an HR role.

HRM is always going to be more niche than most, and that’s exactly why XLRI, a premier b-school is the best option for HR. The plethora of competitions and scope provided is the envy of the B-school world.

He loved HR in general and XLRI specifically because it taught him that pursuing what you love will make you happy even if the monetary return is not huge.

Is Lucknow University good for B Tech?

VR
Vishal Rajput Posted On : September 30th, 2021
Studies Electrical Engineering at Lucknow University,2021

Lucknow University is renowned to offer a bunch of different courses, within which B.Tech is a freshly inaugurated branch that started anew in the year 2017.

  • Since it is extremely new in cases alike, the placements are not highly fruitful at present. In light of this fact, there is currently no alumni network as well.
  • Unlike many other universities, you are expected to work harder than anticipated, so as to grab a position in the job sector.
  • Your career essentially depends upon how ready you are to prepare in the best way possible.
  • No amount of external guidance can assist you in gaining a fruitful career prospect, let alone the university. Prepare thoroughly while pursuing any course you are inclined towards.
  • You can also choose to prepare for either of the major competitive exams, GATE, CAT, IES among others.

Moreover, only choose Lucknow University if you are devoid of any options. Other than that, there is absolutely no issue in joining Lucknow University.
