How is the B.Sc biotechnology course at Mount Carmel College, Bangalore? Do I have to give an interview before admission?

SD
Subhamita Dasgupta Posted On : November 9th, 2021
M.Sc Mathematics from Mount Carmel College, Bangalore (2018)

The Biotechnology department at Mount Carmel College, Bangalore is quite good. The faculty at the department is excellent.

Admission is merit-based. They only consider your 10+2 grades. The interview depends on the department and also on the teachers. However, you don’t need to worry about the interview, it is more like a conversation with the admission committee.

What are the placements of integrated M.Sc in math and computing at BIT Mesra?

AB
Arun Biswas Posted On : August 9th, 2023
Studied at Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra

The branch was started in 2011 and still has a long way to go. The placement scenario however seems promising since the first batch itself received the highest offer of INR 10 LPA. Most of the seniors I know who belonged to this branch were dependent on off-campus placements and got placed in SAP Labs.

The reason on-campus placements for Integrated MSc in Math and Computing at BIT Mesra are not very promising is that students for this program aren't selected via JEE Mains. Big companies like Goldman Sachs, Amazon, Walmart Labs, etc don't find these students credible enough to work in their companies. However, recently MnC has become the fastest-growing branch on campus right now with students receiving plentiful internship offers from foreign universities, IIT, and IIM.

Ultimately I would like to comment that go for this branch only if you are genuinely interested in it and not as an escape route to one-year JEE preparation. Don’t go for it just because of placements you will end up being disappointed.

How can I do my BSc from Lucknow University?

SD
Shankar Dev Posted On : February 6th, 2021
Studied B.SC Mathematics at University of Lucknow (2020)

Lucknow University conducts an entrance examination for admission in UG programs. You must have passed with 1st division (60% marks) in your intermediate exam from any board.

You must have the following subjects in your 10+2 - Physics, Chemistry, Astronomy, Computer Science, Statistics, Electronics. It is advisable to choose your subjects carefully and study properly.

The university usually releases application forms at the beginning of March and the counseling session begins after the result of the entrance exam is announced. If you are able to secure under 600 rank, you will get a regular seat in Lucknow university. But cutoff will vary every year, so you should check the cutoff requirements prior to your entrance.

Some facts regarding admission in B. Sc course at Lucknow University are:

Total course fee

INR 25,662

Total seats available

190 seats

Application Fees

INR 800 (General & OBC) and INR 400 (SC & ST)

The main struggle will start after admission because Lucknow university does not provide“spoon-feeding” to students (especially those who are from the science stream) like other colleges. You will not receive any comprehensive notes of all the subjects. The university really focuses on the growth of students on their own. Lucknow University will certainly not provide you full notes on all subjects, but teachers here teach really very well, and you can make notes by yourself if you are sincere enough.

Making notes is an art that every student should know and the university will help you practice it well. The primary part of the B.Sc course is Practicals. You will have the best practical classes here at Lucknow University, much better than any other college.

Last but not the least, professors are very helpful here and are always available for your doubts or queries. You will never feel in this college that you should do coaching or take any other help because professors are always there for any help.

Which one is better for a BSc in microbiology Ram Lal Anand College or Swami Shraddhanand College?

VD
Veena Dutta Posted On : October 4th, 2021
MHA in Masters of Hospital Administration,Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) (2020)

The better choice would definitely be Ram Lal Anand College after what I have learned from my friends studying there.

The campus might not be as extravagant as other colleges, but if you want to study microbes, Ram Lal Anand College is the best choice.

The reasons to choose this college over Swami Shraddhanand College are as follows:

  • The best microbiology course offered by Delhi University.
  • It is a really underrated college. Thus you may not hear about it in discussions.
  • The students from this college have got their research papers printed in international papers.
  • The faculty is highly experienced at the University of Delhi in Microbiology and they guide you at every single step of your course.
Categories B.Sc. Microbiology at Ram Lal Anand College Swami Shraddhanand College
Course Fee 36,465 36,225
Placement Percentage 60-75% -
Highest CTC 16 LPA 12 LPA
Average CTC 5 LPA 3.5 LPA

So I would say Ram Lal Anand College over Swami Shraddhanand College any day. But ultimately it is your choice, make an informed decision and choose the one that satisfies your requirements.

How is the BSc Economics program at NMIMS Bangalore? I’m on the waitlist for the Mumbai campus so I want to know if I should consider Bangalore or wait for the list for Mumbai to come out.

AM
Anita Malhotra Posted On : May 23rd, 2023
Student at NMIMS Bangalore

NMIMS Bangalore BSc Economics program has unique course content and innovative pedagogy. It helps in developing an individual to seamlessly integrate into an organization or to be an entrepreneur. The linkages of different quantitative methods have led NMIMS to set up a School of Economics.

Mumbai is the financial capital of India and taking a shot at the admission waitlist will be worth waiting because if you get into the Mumbai campus, the level of exposure you will get will not be at par with any other city in India. If your waiting list number is beyond the acceptable limit then you should consider the Bangalore campus as well.

Which is better for B.Sc (Hons) Maths: JMC or Venky?

AR
Anirban Roy Posted On : October 29th, 2021
B.A (Hons) Political Science Political Science, Sri Venkateswara College, Delhi University (2021)

I know people from both JMC and Venky. Based on the things I heard from them, I will say Venky is definitely a better option for doing a B.Sc (Hons) in Mathematics. Here is why.

  • Faculty - Venky has one of the best faculty bases in the whole university. The teachers are well-experienced and cooperative.
  • Infrastructure - The infrastructure of the institute is great. There is a foyer, ICT lab, auditorium, and a well-equipped Maths department.
  • Library - The library has a great collection of books.
  • Fest - Exponents is the fest for the Maths department. You will get to meet other Math scholars in this fest. Other than that, there is the annual fest Nexus.

Considering all these factors, it is safe to say that Venky is definitely a better option.
