The Biotechnology department at Mount Carmel College, Bangalore is quite good. The faculty at the department is excellent.
Admission is merit-based. They only consider your 10+2 grades. The interview depends on the department and also on the teachers. However, you don’t need to worry about the interview, it is more like a conversation with the admission committee.

The branch was started in 2011 and still has a long way to go. The placement scenario however seems promising since the first batch itself received the highest offer of INR 10 LPA. Most of the seniors I know who belonged to this branch were dependent on off-campus placements and got placed in SAP Labs.
The reason on-campus placements for Integrated MSc in Math and Computing at BIT Mesra are not very promising is that students for this program aren't selected via JEE Mains. Big companies like Goldman Sachs, Amazon, Walmart Labs, etc don't find these students credible enough to work in their companies. However, recently MnC has become the fastest-growing branch on campus right now with students receiving plentiful internship offers from foreign universities, IIT, and IIM.
Ultimately I would like to comment that go for this branch only if you are genuinely interested in it and not as an escape route to one-year JEE preparation. Don’t go for it just because of placements you will end up being disappointed.
Lucknow University conducts an entrance examination for admission in UG programs. You must have passed with 1st division (60% marks) in your intermediate exam from any board.
You must have the following subjects in your 10+2 - Physics, Chemistry, Astronomy, Computer Science, Statistics, Electronics. It is advisable to choose your subjects carefully and study properly.
The university usually releases application forms at the beginning of March and the counseling session begins after the result of the entrance exam is announced. If you are able to secure under 600 rank, you will get a regular seat in Lucknow university. But cutoff will vary every year, so you should check the cutoff requirements prior to your entrance.
Some facts regarding admission in B. Sc course at Lucknow University are:
|
Total course fee |
INR 25,662 |
|
Total seats available |
190 seats |
|
Application Fees |
INR 800 (General & OBC) and INR 400 (SC & ST) |
The main struggle will start after admission because Lucknow university does not provide“spoon-feeding” to students (especially those who are from the science stream) like other colleges. You will not receive any comprehensive notes of all the subjects. The university really focuses on the growth of students on their own. Lucknow University will certainly not provide you full notes on all subjects, but teachers here teach really very well, and you can make notes by yourself if you are sincere enough.
Making notes is an art that every student should know and the university will help you practice it well. The primary part of the B.Sc course is Practicals. You will have the best practical classes here at Lucknow University, much better than any other college.
Last but not the least, professors are very helpful here and are always available for your doubts or queries. You will never feel in this college that you should do coaching or take any other help because professors are always there for any help.
The better choice would definitely be Ram Lal Anand College after what I have learned from my friends studying there.
The campus might not be as extravagant as other colleges, but if you want to study microbes, Ram Lal Anand College is the best choice.
The reasons to choose this college over Swami Shraddhanand College are as follows:
| Categories | B.Sc. Microbiology at Ram Lal Anand College | Swami Shraddhanand College |
| Course Fee | 36,465 | 36,225 |
| Placement Percentage | 60-75% | - |
| Highest CTC | 16 LPA | 12 LPA |
| Average CTC | 5 LPA | 3.5 LPA |
So I would say Ram Lal Anand College over Swami Shraddhanand College any day. But ultimately it is your choice, make an informed decision and choose the one that satisfies your requirements.
