New Delhi: The University of Hyderabad, through its School of Medical Sciences, has entered into a three-year agreement with EMRI Green Health Services in Hyderabad. This collaboration aims to cover various aspects, such as capacity building, training, research collaboration, and student-faculty exchange, within the field of emergency healthcare services.

In the initial stages, the University of Hyderabad has jointly created a unique three-credit educational module with EMRI. This module combines different elements to enhance participants' knowledge and equip them with life support skills.

A "Trainer of Trainers - (ToT)" hub and spoke model is in the pipeline for university stakeholders, alongside an interdisciplinary course at the College of Integrated Studies, University of Hyderabad (UoH), the university statement said.

Upon successful completion of the program, participants will be awarded a "Trained Basic Emergency Care Volunteer" certificate jointly issued by UoH-EMRI. This certificate can also be integrated into the academic credit bank as per the National Education Policy (NEP) guidelines.

The proposed activities within this agreement includes training in accident and first responder tasks, fundamental emergency care skills (BECS) which serve as the foundation program for UoH, as well as advanced emergency care skills (AECS) training in the form of a one-year diploma program aligned with NEP 2020.

This training will be conducted through the university's virtual platforms with hands-on experience at EMRI premises. Furthermore, there are plans to develop state-of-the-art simulation labs and engage in diverse research areas, as indicated by the team.

Addressing the event, B J Rao, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Hyderabad, praised the initiative and the formal establishment of this partnership.

He commended the involved parties for crafting this unique and independent initiative that encompasses every university stakeholder in developing essential life skills.

Further, he was excited by the prospect that this initiative might stand as one-of-its-kind among higher education institutions in the country and within a university setting.
