New Delhi: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has released a list of fake universities across India to help students decide on the best colleges during the admission season. Students must check the UGC's official website for more information and updates.

Students and parents are advised to carefully verify the authenticity of any university or college before applying for admission. This measure protects students from falling victim to these deceptive organisations.

As per UGC, a fake university's online website can look similar to a genuine university’s website. To help students identify such fraudulent institutions, the UGC has published a list of fake universities across various states in India.

The UGC has identified several fake universities in different states:

Maharashtra, Puducherry, and Karnataka: Each state has one fake university.
Kerala and West Bengal: Each state has two fake universities.
Uttar Pradesh: Four fake universities.
Andhra Pradesh: Two Fake Universities
Delhi: Eight fake universities, the highest number identified by UGC.
