New Delhi: The Centre of Excellence in Teacher Education (CETE) at Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) is preparing to organise an event as a part of its Connected Learning for STEM (CL4STEM) Initiative on June 17, 2023 at the TISS Campus in Chembur.
The Connected Learning for STEM (CL4STEM) Initiative of TISS Mumbai is supported and funded by the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) with an attempt to scale CLIx to Bhutan, Nigeria and Tanzania. The institute will host researchers from Bhutan, Tanzania and Nigeria.
The Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai (IBBUL), Nigeria will lead the consortium and Samtse College of Education, Bhutan (SCE) and Open University, Tanzania (OUT) will join as partners followed by TISS as Lead Technical Consultant.
The initiative's objective is to increase the ability of science and math teachers in middle and secondary schools to promote higher-order learning that is inclusive and equitable in their classrooms and to conduct research on the program's efficacy and possible scaling.
The meeting will be attended by Prof. Nuhu Obaje Project Lead & Country lead in Nigeria; Prof. Edphonce Nfuka Country Lead, Tanzania; Dr Rinchen Dorji Country Lead, Bhutan; Mr Abdullahi Kawu Project Coordinator- CL4STEM; Prof. Steve Chidi Nwokeocha Advisor along with Prof. Padma Sarangapani Chairperson, CETE.
During the meeting, research on the previous two years will be presented and country reports for each partner nation are expected to be completed. In addition to this, it will include sharing the research findings from the pilot project and expanding the project to additional partner nations.
Informing about this initiative, the official notice reads, "Expected outcomes of this project are Train teachers and teacher educators through online professional development modules based on curated OERs and via participation in online communities of practice”.
“It also aims to influence the teaching practices of the participating NQTs to foster inclusive higher-order learning in their classrooms. The project comprises Knowledge Transfer, Impact Study, and Innovation Diffusion Study”, it added. For more information, visit the official website at tiss.edu.
