Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan to Receive Honorary Doctorate in India; Check Details Here

New Delhi: Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan is currently on a four-day visit to India and will receive an honorary doctorate from the Jawaharlal Nehru University, as announced by the Education Ministry. 

President Hassan, the first woman to hold the position in Tanzania, will be conferred with an honorary doctorate (Honoris Causa) for her significant contributions to strengthening India-Tanzania relations, advancing economic diplomacy, and her accomplishments in regional integration and multilateral efforts. She arrived in India on Sunday for her four-day visit. 

The Education Ministry shared on social media platform X that President Hassan expressed her gratitude for her education, referring to herself as a "product of Indian education" and crediting her ITEC training at NIRD, Hyderabad.

Before the discussions, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi emphasized that the Tanzanian President's visit presented an opportunity to elevate the enduring relationship between the two nations to higher standards. 

During the talks, Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged in comprehensive discussions with Tanzanian President Hassan, focusing on strengthening bilateral relations.

Earlier in the day, the visiting leader was accorded a ceremonial welcome at the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan. President Hassan will also participate in a business and investment forum in Delhi on October 10.
