PGIMER Chandigarh will be conducting its 36th Convocation to celebrate the achievements of graduates from a range of medical and healthcare programs. Read below to know the courses and other details.

New Delhi: The PostGraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh (PGI Chandigarh), has officially announced its 36th Convocation, scheduled for November 2, 2023. This prestigious event for PhD, MD, MS, DM, MCh, MDS, and MPH course students will take place in the Bhargava Auditorium of PGIMER, Chandigarh.
To prepare for PGIMER Chandigarh 36th convocation, the first rehearsal is set for October 31, 2023, starting at 10 AM, followed by the full dress rehearsal on November 1, 2023, also commencing at 10 AM, both taking place in the Bhargava Auditorium. It's important to note that attendance at the rehearsals is mandatory for admission to the convocation ceremony.
The entire convocation ceremony for the graduates of PhD, MD, MS, DM, MCh, MDS, and MPH courses will be broadcast live, and a YouTube link for the live telecast will be accessible on the PGI website.
PGIMER Chandigarh Convocation Ceremony: Instructions To Recipients Of Degrees And Medals
Candidates can go through the following table to know the instructions provided to the recipients of degrees and medals.

Candidates receiving the degrees during the Convocation will have to wear the academic costumes as tabulated below:-

The institute has made it clear that attendance at the rehearsal is mandatory. Only candidates who attend the rehearsal will be eligible to receive their degrees during the Convocation.
Candidates who do not plan to attend the Convocation in person can receive their degrees in absentia by paying a fee of INR 300/- through a Demand Draft in favor of the Director of PGIMER, Chandigarh.
PGI Chandigarh Convocation Ceremony Guidelines
PGI has issued guidelines for candidates attending the convocation, which include the following:
- Ensure punctuality for both the rehearsal and the convocation.
- Enter the Auditorium on Convocation Day through Gate No-1 wearing your Gown and Hood.
- Take the seat 60 minutes prior to the arrival of the Chief Guest.
- Refrain from leaving your seat during the rehearsal and Convocation proceedings.
- Sit in the assigned seat, noted during the rehearsal, and remember the neighbors to the left and right.
- Sign the Roll Call sheet on the rehearsal day to ensure the inclusion among the candidates receiving degrees at the Convocation.
- Avoid bringing personal items such as cameras, mobiles, and handbags into the auditorium.
- After receiving the degree, kindly bow to the Chief Guest and Director before returning to the seat.
- If there is any discrepancy in the candidate's degree, they must address it immediately after the convocation; no objections will be entertained later.
- Stand with decorum:
- When the National Song or National Anthem is sung or played.
- When the academic procession enters or exits the Convocation Hall.
- Stand when the academic procession enters the Auditorium and remain standing until procession members take their seats. The same procedure applies when the procession leaves the Auditorium.
- Only one guest per degree recipient is allowed. The guest can watch the convocation through a televised screen in a separate hall or lecture theatre.
The institute has notified the students to inform them about the accompanying person when confirming their participation in the convocation ceremony.
