New Delhi: The SVKM's NMIMS Bengaluru has organised a captivating and enlightening session on 'ISRO's Space Exploration,' featuring Mrs Kalpana Arvind, Associate Director at LEOS-ISRO.
As per NMIMS Bengaluru, the detailed session on ISRO's Space Exploration covered insights into ISRO's notable accomplishments and upcoming initiatives in the field of space exploration.
With a background in Electronics and Communication, Mrs. Kalpana Arvind boasts an impressive career spanning over 37 years at ISRO. Throughout her three-decade tenure, the accomplished scientist has held various roles and made substantial contributions to numerous projects of national significance.
Further, she played a pivotal role in the success of space exploration endeavours such as Chandrayan-1, 2, and 3, as well as the recent Aditya L1 mission. Currently, she holds the position of Associate Director at the Laboratory for Electro-Optics Systems (LEOS), ISRO.
Highlights of NMIMS Bengaluru Session on ISRO's Space Exploration

During the informative session, Mrs Kalpana Arvind shared India's significant achievements in the field of space exploration. She highlighted the pivotal role played by ISRO in advancing India's capabilities in astronomy, extensively discussing recent missions and technological breakthroughs.

Mrs. Kalpana Arvind said that within the expansive domain of space exploration, ISRO has achieved remarkable milestones, such as Chandrayan 3's soft landing on the lunar south pole and the recent Aditya L1 mission exploring the sun.
With ambitious missions like Gaganyaan on the horizon and access to cutting-edge resources, the future of space exploration and research in India appears promising.
Kalpana Arvind's Impactful Achievements at LEOS-ISRO
Mrs Kalpana Arvind's inaugural assignment at ISRO involved the development of Sensor Processing Electronics Packages for the highly acclaimed Indian National Satellite – INSAT-2 series.
So far, 40 packages of INSAT-2 have been successfully launched, contributing to renowned space programs like Chandrayaan-1, 2, and 3, as well as the Mars Orbiter Mission. The scientist has been instrumental in presenting sensor subsystems for various stages, encompassing pre-launch, launch, and post-launch activities.
Among her notable achievements, she has pioneered the design and development of advanced Fiber Optics-based Gyroscope and MEMS-based sensors for the Inertial Reference Unit and Accelerometer, respectively.

With a prolific contribution to the scientific community, Mrs. Kalpana Arvind has authored more than 50 significant papers and journals, and presented at esteemed national and international conferences. She holds one unique patent in her name and has recently filed an application for another.
As a distinguished member of esteemed forums like the Instrument Society of India, the Astronautical Society of India, and the Indian Society of Systems for Science and Engineering, Mrs. Arvind has received numerous awards and accolades in recognition of her outstanding achievements in the field of space exploration.
