Maharashtra's engineering and pharmacy admissions face significant delays due to the NEET-UG re-examination scheduled for June 21, 2026. The state's Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell relies on NEET scores for nine specialized engineering branches and 15 percent pharmacy seats under the all-India quota. The NEET paper leak on May 3, 2026, forced the National Testing Agency (NTA) to cancel the original exam and schedule a retest. Maharashtra Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil confirmed that engineering admissions cannot proceed independently because many students decide between medicine and engineering only after NEET results are declared.
