New Delhi: A new petition has been submitted to the Supreme Court regarding the ongoing NEET UG Result 2024 controversy. The petition seeks a complete re-evaluation of all OMR answer sheets, a re-ranking of candidates, and a court-monitored investigation.
The petition has been filed by 20 NEET UG 2024 candidates. It has also asked for a reconduct of the exam afresh. According to the plea, there has been irregularities, malpractice in the NEET UG 2024 Result. Keeping that in mind, it urged a investigation by CBI under the supervision of this court so as to do justice to the large number of meritorious students whose claims have been defeated by systemic failure to ensure conduct of fair examination.
A total of 1563 students have scored the perfect score of 720 in the NEET UG 2024 Result. According to the examinees, this is statistically not possible due to the marks division scheme. This raised controversies among students questioning the sanctity of the exam. There have been confirmed cases of leakage of question paper, with respect to which FIRs have been lodged and several persons have been arrested. The petition emphasizes the need for a thorough investigation by an independent agency to maintain the integrity and fairness of the examination process.
Previously, on June 13, the NTA responded to another petition regarding the grace marks, agreeing to withdraw these marks and offering affected students a re-test or scores without the grace marks.
Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta then issued notices on this petition and a related matter seeking a CBI inquiry into alleged paper leaks. All NEET-UG 2024-related petitions will be reviewed on July 14, 2024.
